Been using a nautilus mini for a long while. I was thinking of moving on to a cleito or nautilus X. I've never tried sub-ohm before and fancied trying it. Someone told me they couldn't go back to there mini nautilus after sub-ohm as they just can't get the same hit.

Really want to try some new flavours. All the best seem to be fairly high in VG and I don't get on with high VG in my mini

Looked at some reviews and the cleito seems to be really good but can I use it for MTL ? Or any sub tank ?

Any advise appreciated.

Can anyone explain why you can't mtl with say the cleito.
Can you not just draw it into your mouth then inhale?
Do not know about cleito, but some sub ohm tanks are too airy, you cannot MTL because mouth draw time is too short for them, less than 1 second.

I can understand why you could not direct lung hit on say a mini nautilus that well as the draw is quite tight.

Never trying sub-ohm before I don't quite understand.

Many/most subohmers are ex-smokers. When I smoked it was a series of short intense drags. Cigarette was never to my lips more then 1-2 seconds. Pull smoke/vaper in, blow out. Rinse and repeat.

If you didn't hotbox your cigarettes you prolly won't like subohm.

MTL, commonly called tootle puffing, is something else altogether. Long gentle puffs in the 10-15 second range. I have no idea how this habit is formed but some people do it.

There seems to be little cross over.

MTL, to me, is the looong, relaxed draw. A lot of flavor time on the intake, flavor time in the mouth, and smell time exhaling through the nose. I don't really take it into my lungs. I am not sure what I did when I smoked, but that is just how I have always done it when vaping.

I vape in the 0.8 to 1.1 range. I have found that some flavors do better when a little warmer. I think Tootle Puffers just do long "relaxed" draws, regardless of resistance. My STM toppers are in the .8 area, so creamy juices go to them. I know it isn't the warmest, but I noticed it as better for me somewhere along the line.

Smokers were generally divided between straight pulls or full mouth and inhale. My wife and I were both the latter. I actually didn't realize people did direct pulls until after I switched to vaping. I guess I never paid any attention for the nearly 30 years I smoked.

I have transitioned to a hybrid vape at times. Full mouth followed by a restricted lung hit. I bought a subtank to test low ohm+airy draw. Didn't work for me but I get why some like it.

I also didn't know there were different ways of inhaling cigarettes. I thought everyone did MTL. It was only when I started vaping I became aware of DL. I tried to do a DL, but can't seem to do it for some reason and it's just awkward to me. I smoked for over 30 years and guess my body is just used to MTL and that works for me so I'm ok being a "tootle puffer". :)

When I smoked, I took long mouth draws, then inhaled them deeply and held the smoke for a bit before exhaling it. I vape the same way, MTL, long draws...

I never thought of "mouth to lung" inhaling before coming to vaping and hearing about it.

I liken it to puffing on a cigar or tobacco pipe. Suction comes from the mouth only and after a mouth suck, the chest is used to pull the puff into the lungs. (M2L)

I always smoked like I breath. Open mouth and inhale with the chest. Granted on a 'tight draw' your cheeks will naturally deform inward on the suction. (D2L)

While different tanks have wildly different amounts of air flow I find the process the same. Many of my RTA's have very little restriction and with the right build, will fill up my lungs with 1-3 second draws. Most clearo's have much lower vapor output and usually tighter draws so drawing on them might start bumping up against the 10sec "hit timer" that some mods have.

Personally I open my Nautilus tanks up on the largest air hole and still D2L - it just takes longer to fill my lungs. Granted, I usually run 18mg in these tanks as I don't have all day to get a nicotine fix. ;)

I MTL on .25 drippers all day long. Its the same way I smoked cigars. Keeping it cool is really as much in the wicking as the airflow. My Fav RDA is the kennedy 24, with two of the air-holes blocked off with cotton, for a denser vape, at .2 to .3 or so.

This K24 ohms in right at .20

    BOL. :?)

I sub ohm MTL from time to time with my toptank (usually in the mornings after waking up where I dont want to take a huge lung hit) and crown down to 1.5 ohms. Not sure if it's an unconscience habit or if my draws are actually a hybrid MTL and LH. Sure it is better just to use a 1.0 ohm and above coil or to close any airflow control down to one of the tightest settings but I honestly have no problem MTL'ing anything with my Crown V.1 and Toptanks.

I understand why it's not ideal but I never had a problem mouth to lunging a sub ohm coil.
