Sub ohm 24 gauge super nano coil?!

I was thinking 28 g 8 wraps on a 1/16 drillbit , is this a safe build ? With sony vtc5 s

8 wraps of 28 ga on a 1/16" should come in right at 1.0 ohm.
And yeah, the issue is battery safety. It is super important to have a good grasp of Ohm's Law anytime you start building coils, really at any ohm.
Sub-ohm just gets a vaper closer to the point where a mistake or misjudgment can result in a battery short and runaway thermal event. Real low sub-ohm can get a vaper right up to the edge.

As someone who likes buying fairly new, crashed sportbikes and turning them into track bikes, I can see an upside.

5 months later I bought an SV650. Not a true sportbike but still hella quick and pretty nimble. V-Twin baby!
If I'da jumped straight on an R6 or GSXR600 I'da probably killed myself.

Just to give you an example or two.
I occasionally use a Trident in Dual coil mode. 2 Nano coils mounted /\ and wrapped in cotton. The build is 28ga. Kanthal and a total resistance of .8-.86ohms. Not overly low and not Hot to vape on. Produces Very good vapor and excellent flavor.

I also now have an Omega with Quad coils. Same style build and the resistance is still on the upper side at .67ohms total. I did the build with 4 N-R-N 2.6 ohm ready wire coils.
This one really chucks out Vapor but is still able to deliver very good flavor.

The thing is I'm not even running 100% VG like most. I vape to enjoy and these are my daily juices at 50/50 6mg.

No problem crxess i like the idea of the first build you mentioned what sized air holes are you running and what drill bit did you wrap the 28 g around , is the vapor production good? Rip makes his own juice and as you'll soon find out a dripper gives flavor leaps and bounds better than clearos. If he states in a video that he's using 50/50 then I would trust that. I have seen him mention that he's using 100 VG before a couple of times, I figured that's what he uses in all his videos.

In the videos I've seen (he has so many, I think close to 300 ? so I haven't seen them all) he's vaping 50-50 or 60-40. He always says how he's after flavor more than clouds, but always has both.

I have reached the point I build all my coils at 2mm and pay close attention to positioning them well in the air path. I use a 14ga Syringe needle 2.11mm. 5/64 would put you at 1.98mm, close enough.

I run the Trident with Dual 2mm holes full open. My Omega has dual or single 3mm openings. I use the Dual but offset to partially close them to about 2mm. Seems to be my comfort zone.

The responses and queries are so similar I have to chuckle every time I see one of these threads.

That is EXACTLY what I said when I started. I have a Busa and on the Busa forum every day you get a post, "Is it okay to start on a Hayabusa as a first bike ?" answer given online......."NO get a GSXR 600 or a R6" LOL




As for the OP, once I started I couldn't stop with the builds. I started with 32gauge and was doing 2-3 builds a day. I bet I've seen pretty close to all the videos and read tons and still have a LOOOOOOOOOONG way to go.

my first bike was an r1. go big or go home haha. although i did start on a liter bike, i had respect for the bike and the power. and i had riden dirt bikes all my life so i was familar with motorcycles.

but anyway back on topic...OP get an ohm meter. build your coils. if it meters too low or you dont feel safe vaping it, DONT VAPE IT. rebuild it and try again. for many of us it was all trial and error..finding what works for you. but ALWAYS test the ohms on your builds. and battery safety is a must. dont over discharge them and keep them safe. i recommend getting a case for them for when you are out n about. costs a couple bucks. when i ventured into rebuildables i was very overwhelmed. with ohms law and batteries and shorts and such...you have come to the right place for help.

When in fact the Busa is preferable IMHO due to the linear power curve. My "little" Yamaha 600 likes to paw for the sky when it finally hits the powerband, somewhat reminiscent of old two-stroke dirt bikes.

All that being said...

It's vital to have a handle on what to do when things go wrong in either arena. The prudent approach is to keep the number of things that can potentially go wrong to a minimum at first and develop the proper responses while keeping the potential for disaster due to poor responses as low as possible.

Safe chemistry is what is important. There are amp voltage calculators that will help you get an idea of the exponential increase in voltage that is needed to heat thick low amp coils. In real basic terms the "friction" of electricity makes the heat. The more resistance the less volts and amps needed to make it glow red. The low amp builds still don't have appeal to me when I can get a nautilus with a rebuilt coil and wick at 1.8 ohms to "blow clouds". The purpose for the sub ohm builds seems to be getting really sense vape from a short pull. Personally I want to feel like I am smoking to avoid cigarettes. Keep in mind at the upper limits if any device small variables have big results. When you operate in the mid range of a devices potential, things are more forgiving. Be safe and enjoy vaping!
