Hello Guys,

So I've recently switched to UD 26 guage SS316L. I'm using lavabox dna 200 with Griffin tank on TC mode (dual coil, 8 spaced wraps @ around 0.27ohm). I've got the wire config from steam-engine website, which I uploaded to my device. Now everything seems to be working great, amazing flavor and vape. The issue I'm facing is with the amount of gunk being built up on the coils after 1-2 usage. I've tried using different liquids, yet same issue.

Am I doing something wrong?

I do notice that my SS-316L coils get caked-up a bit faster than Kanthal*. And it seems like the effects of dry-burning don't last as long either (i.e. coils cake up even faster after each subsequent cleaning). However, I'm not noticing near as drastic a difference as you describe. The difference I'm seeing still leaves me preferring the characteristics of SS wire (on a mech). I probably rebuild from scratch every ≈3 weeks instead of every ≈month.

I figure Kanthal was designed to be resistance wire, and to perform well with such use (forming that Aluminum Oxide layer that sort of seals and protects the wire from micro-pitting n' stuff n' whatnot).

I'm using high quality, surgical grade wire tho. No idea what UD deems to be SS wire. And I don't add sweeteners to my DIY juices. So, . .. mileage . . . varying.

*don't know what wire you're comparing to, with the regulated vape (Nickel?, Ti? Different SS?)
