Ok, so I've built a few coils recently on my rsst with ss mesh 325 and every time I rebuild it it tastes funky, not burned but almost like I can taste the mesh. Is there a break in period for ss mesh wicks, or am I doing something wrong?
There is a break in period. Some folks say it takes a tank or so. Personally, I find it takes about 1/2 tank. I suppose it depends on your prep method, and how sensitive your taste buds are .
You probably have a short and/or a hotspot. Empty out the juice and fire the coil. Are the middle coils the brightest? In a solid coil, the heat should come from the middle and follow out to the bottom and top. Check out this video:
The one that's on it now does have hot spots between the coil and the two poles but the others I've done have been perfect and they still taste weird. I will watch that video tho because I still don't quite understand how to work out hot spots and other defects.
Not sure if you pre oxidize your wick or not. Why dont you try a wrap on an unoxidized mesh wick and pulse toll it all glows nice... Works evertime for me
