My answers in red:

Well, just to get the common sense stuff out of the way:

1. With my first genuine Spinner from DV, it shorted out immediately on two Protank heads and 5 Blu cartomizers (which fit perfectly.)

Did you reuse those Blu cartos? Read below why I think they are defective.

3. You don't put liquid in Blu cartomizers; they come pre-filled. I did put a drop of water in 2 of them as an experiment to see if it loosened up the juice, and it actually worked, I could again taste juice... for 10 seconds.

You can re-fill a carto w/e-juice if you can put drops of water in them . :) Sounds like they were old and dried out. Defective.

5. My coils are indeed making loud pop noises (not sizzling) if I hold the battery button longer than 3 seconds, which is required for good vapor. Does it on any setting even a notch higher than 3.3.

that isn't necessarily abnormal. When I said pop coils I meant render them blown up. They would not work at all after that, and if your battery is indeed over voltage, it would have blown the coils on the delivery devices eventually, and maybe also heated up, and probably started to swell, as I said.

6. With my Blu batteries, the full story is that one was faulty out of the box, and the whole set died after six days. I only ever used Blu cartos with it, and they tasted burned just like they're doing on my genuine Spinner.

then that is PROOF that these cartos are no good. They didn't work on the Blu batts, and now they do not work on the Spinner. Throw them out! You are shorting out your batts with dried up, defective cartos! If cartos do not work on two different batteries, then logically, it's the cartos, not the batteries

7. My "clone" from Fasttech came in with a popped off center column, never did use it, never did test it, it's garbage and probably dangerous.

okay, got it. the head disconnected from the tube part. You should have filed a ticket with Fasttech and they would have sent another one. It's a shame to let them keep your money

My question is: what's even the purpose of wicks? Why not invent a device where a coil just sits in a tub of juice and the vapor rises in bubbles through the juice like a boiling pot of water? All wicks do is burn and make juice taste bad with the slightest atom of singed material

I don't think vaping straight off metal would taste very good anyway.

Is there a B&M store or any vape meets near you? I would bring what you have and get someone to help you. That you would have all these defective batteries AND defective cartos is almost statistically impossible, IMHO, or maybe you are just that unlucky.

Something seems very amiss here and without looking and testing on multimeter I could not tell you. HOwever, all vapers should own a multimeter so they can test batteries and test delivery devices.

Meanwhile, and I am not fanboi-ing, but as a newbie, I got fed up with batts and wicks and immediately bought a bottom feeder, vaped straight off an atty, and never looked back. Might be an option for you, really simple simple system. :)

edit: can you tell us a bit about your chargers? Wall adapter, etc. how are you charging and what are you using?

Here's the rundown with the Blu cartos:

On the first Genuine Spinner, I tested it using 10 old Blu cartos I had. I had 5 Java and 5 Menthol. All of them shorted immediately, along with the two Protank heads. It was the battery that was defective. Sometimes it'd short out immediately, sometimes it'd work a few times. Some of the menthols tasted fine.

For the second batttery, I threw all those away and went out and bought fresh Blu cartos. Made all them taste burnt, and I tried puffing them as slowly as possible for the first few puffs to get the liquid heated up.

And what sucks is there's absolutely no vape shop within a two hour distance from me :/.

Still no luck with the Protank. I have emailed MOV to see if it's possible that my juice was made wrong; I did find it odd that my supposed-to-be robust coffee NET smelled like watered down maple syrup with no tones of tobbacco.

Also, when I say that my battery could be over volting, could it be possible that the twist part was put on wrong, not causing a major overblowing output but where like 3.3 was really 4.2 or something?
