► Smok RPM 85 & RPM 100 Kit; First Impressions:
The RPM family has steadily expanded from the original RPM 40, then to RPM 80, RPM 80 Pro, RPM Lite, RPM 160, RPM 2, RPM 2S, RPM 4, RPM 5, RPM 5 Pro.
Smok RPM 85 & RPM 100 Kit are two new pod kits that are similar to each other, but have a couple of differences ... The main difference between RPM 85 & RPM 100 relates to the type of battery. RPM 85 has a 3000mAh internal battery, while RPM 100 uses a single 18650 battery (with adapter included) or a 20700/21700 battery. For RPM 100 external 18650/20700/21700 batteries are not included.
Both devices have a USB Type-C port that charges up to a rate of 1.5A. They take advantage of 5-80W and 5-100W different power output. The cartridge fills comfortably from the top and has a maximum capacity of 6.5 ml, supplied with two new Mesh Coil RPM 3 to satisfy fans of the DL vape. Smok was nice and kind enough to send me 3 of the 5 colors available for RPM 85 & RPM 100. I like them all equally.

Smok RPM 85 & RPM 100 Kit, are captivating at first glance. Both Mods appear gracefully designed to be portable and durable over time and contemplate with a good degree of finish. The edges are rounded and offer an elegant appearance with an ergonomic handle. In the side view there is a very valuable metal decoration in relief "RPM 85" or "RPM 100" depending on the model you have chosen. Between the metal trusses of the frame there are the plastic panels that are processed with the IML (In Mold Labeling) technique and depict a sober honeycomb texture. At the top is the control system of the AFC, it is a large and well-braked rotating ring that allows you to open the two side ways of the air flow.

► Smok RPM 85 & RPM 100 Kit; Control Panel:
On the top front there is a beautiful chrome and metallic "SMOK" embossed writing, under it the two mods share the same screen with color display, the 0.96 "display has a nice brightness and the basic information fonts are well visible. The fire button is square in shape and concave in the center to convey a perfect tactile feeling to the fingertips. The "+ and -" adjustment buttons are located at the bottom and are arranged above a rocker. 5V / 1.5A USB C charging port.

► Smok RPM 85 & RPM 100 Kit; Operation Guide:
The screen shows all the information useful for vaping as follows:

•• To turn the mod on / off, click five consecutive clicks on the Fire button

Below you can see the image with all the safety functions of RPM 85 & RPM 100 represented.

► Smok RPM 85 & RPM 100 Kit; Lower base:
Both devices use a rather large base to stand up well. RPM 85 also has a rubberized profile around the base which makes it very silent when resting on the table. RPM 100, on the other hand, has a metal door controlled by a sliding type opening button to insert the external cell.

► Smok RPM 85 & RPM 100 Kit; External battery or internal battery? :
As we have seen, RPM 85 comes with a large 3,000mAh non-removable cell that can be recharged directly from the USB port. While with RPM 100 once the flap is open it is possible to insert an external 18650 battery with the included adapter, or a 20700/21700 cell without the adapter.
► Smok RPM 85 & RPM 100 Kit; All In One:
Both devices exploit a powerful magnetic connection thanks to the two magnets on the bottom of the Pod.
► Smok RPM 85 & RPM 100 Kit; Dual Compatible Pods:
Smok RPM 85 & RPM 100 Kit share the same cartridge for RPM 3 Coils which is made of transparent PCTG with an e-liquid capacity up to 6.5ml. The full compatibility with the cartridges for RPM 2 Coils (sold separately) is interesting.
The top cap is of the sliding type with an arrow indicating the opening direction. The filling hole is large enough and is protected by a silicone membrane. The fixed type drip-tip hinders the filling phases a little with larger dispensers with short tips. The coils are inserted from the bottom into the cartridge and are blocked by a red mobile lever (Child Proof). Before extracting the coil to replace the coil you must first move this lever to the side.
► Smok RPM 85 & RPM 100 Kit; Final conclusions:
The test of Vaping was particularly pleasant and profitable for me, thanks to a good regulation of the air flow. The swivel wheel is large, and with the double knurled profile for an excellent finger grip it is very comfortable. The rotation of the infinite type is precise and well braked and allows the two large opposing slots that measure 9.5x3.5mm each to be partialised perfectly and without drafts of air.
• RPM 3 Meshed Coil from 0.15Ω Range From 40 to 80W:
This resistance already from 40W works very well, however by switching to 50W it fully satisfies me both with AFC completely open and with AFC slightly closed to obtain warmer vapor. By increasing the power it becomes mandatory to keep the airflow wide open otherwise the heat could become excessive, so I would say that 50W (for me) is more than enough also because I like to vary the airflow and I don't want to overheat my tongue. Aroma and clouds are present in abundance, and with little condensation. The puff is not very noisy, and I did not notice any spitting phenomena, there is little condensation and can be easily removed with a cloth.
• 0.23Ω RPM 3 Meshed Coil Range From 20 to 45W:
With this resistance I got good performances already starting from 25W and with AFC almost all closed. Is 25W really enough to get big clouds? The answer is absolutely yes! Just open the airflow a little and the Smok coil disproves all the theories that state that it takes a lot of watts to get big clouds. An excellent resistance indeed, because it absorbs relatively little energy and will guarantee you a great autonomy before recharging. The Drip Tip of the cartridge is very wide and is of the fixed type and this is perhaps the only limitation. If with the 0.15Ω resistance the wide Drip Tip is perfect, it is not fully so with this 0.23Ω Meshed Coil that could get great performance even in RDL at low wattages. So to use this coil well even at 20W, it would have been better to have been able to change the Drip Tip with a narrower one.
• Double platform of RPM3 & RPM2 coils:
If you are among the lucky owners of a previous RPM 2 cartridge, you can have fun getting different combinations of Vaping, if you do not have an RPM2 cartridge you can always buy it separately together with the RPM2 coils. The new RPM 3 coils live up to the best of the competition and I believe they are also quite long-lasting. The cartridge contains a lot of e-liquid and apart from the non-replaceable Drip Tip (pity) it offers some interesting tweaks such as; the refill from the top and the child proof system of the coil.
I really appreciate the work of Smoktech and in particular their great Mods equipped with replaceable cells, or with large integrated batteries, so I really feel like congratulating Smok because they managed to present two more new "All In One" Kits with a truly excellent degree of finishes, impeccable aesthetics and great ergonomics. The basic chipset handles the batteries of both Mods well, but in particular it handles the integrated cell of RPM 85 very well. The large number of Puffs I got with RPM85 is a remarkable 488 Puffs !. The full charge time of RPM 85 is approximately 90 minutes. With external cells that can be used with RPM 100, I only use my trusty XTAR VC8 charger for recharging.
The chipset of both Mods works only in power mode, TC, Smart detection and other functions are missing. However we are talking about cheap "All In One" devices and this can be forgiven. Everything else is really good for the RPM 85 & RPM 100 Kit because they are attractive devices, easy to use, and for the demanding "cloud chasers" they provide great RDL / DL performance.
I would like to thank Smoktech for providing me with these kits. I hope this review was useful for anyone looking to buy Smok RPM 85 & RPM 100 Kit.
Thanks for reading.
