SMOK Guardian 2

So far it's been a good little investment! But you may want to shop around for some 1200mah 18350 flat top not button top batteries if you decide to order one! Here I grabbed some Demonfire 1200mah high drain batteries I spotted at Amazon on Black Friday during the long wait as well as wiaitng for an 8 pack of Panasonics I find were being shipped in from China! of all places when ordering them there! If I had known that I would simply ordered more of the first Demonfire since those have been working out well on both Guardian models so far!

The IClear tanks are out of the picture entirely here. So far the Nautilus has been the ideal tank to match the wattage range as well as how it fits just right. I went a bit further and had swapped off the original glass tanks on a few and put on the SS tanks which surprisingly lack any view slot where you check the level unlike the two found on the Mini SS replacements.

I've been running it about the 13w mark for those few hours at the most nightly since the 1200mah high drain batteries still need to be recharged rather quickly when running it at that wattage. But it works out nicely for those immediate after dinner vapes! :)

One thing about ordering anything at this time of year is to expect the mayhem of holiday delays! I ordered a mod from FT on the 6th and they shipped on the 8th or 9th and after two full weeks later I made an inquiry and then right after the support ticket was placed the tracking update finally showed up indicating it finally cleared customs and will be in tomorrow since nothing is delivered on holidays.

The Guardian II of course took much longer being on pre-order status but at least is already here but won't be carried around while out visiting. I have other mods for that I ended up ordering recently. You could say "A Mod for Every Occasion"?! :D

I got mine as Cristmas gift. So have got it for nearly a week.

I am very disapointed. It looks fine; but it eats batteries like h...l. With the newest of my batteries i can use the Guardian II for at most half an hour.

I use AW and Efest batteries. My ato is 1.6Ohm, and I am only using the Guardian with 6W. Higher than 6W with a 1.6Ohm ato will only last for a couple of minuts.

I have tried with 2.4 ohm and I just got the 15 blink from the led within seconds. I have never been able to use it with more than 7w.

So I must say, I am very very disapointed.

I am lucky to have a Kir Fanis Epipe. I know... it's four time the price of Guardian II. But it don't matters... it's at least 10 times better. So perhaps I shall ask my wife for a better Cristmas gift, and buy me a Kir Fanis more.

I have a Naultilus on mine with the 1.8ohm running at 11-13w and using 1200mah high drain 18350s and get a few nights since I am not on constantly since this is used for those kick back and catch a flick times lasting a few hours each time. The suspect there would be the batteries unless you got in one with a defect of some type since the one here is lasting hours on a charge while 18350s notably will never last a full day.

So I recived mine in the mail the day after Christmas, I bought a couple of purple efest 18350s from Sweet Vapes to use with for 2 reasons, 1 - my other 18350s are about a year old & 2 - the purple are 10.5 amp drain, where my others do not have this high of a drain. I have been seeing 3 to 4 hours at 10w, with a 1.6 coil in my Nautilus. I did try my others (they are the read efest 18350s) and I only get 45 minutes to an hour with those.

Night Hawk found some high capacity 18350s and from his post he is seeing the same.

I will be picking up a couple more purple 18350s this week so I feel good out that I will have enoght for a day on this.

While already having had a pair of UltraFire 1200s plus one other loose 18350 laying from the old DSE601 automatic(stinks big time) epipe Smok had out the new ones of another brand have been doing the job so far while I just got in another 8 pack of UltraFire HD 1200mah batteries that I will be checking as well while those see use on the first Guardian mech mod there.

Speaking of the first Guardian what a size difference on the two! That thing is about 1/3 the size of the Guardian E=Pipe II model and the button is threaded downward to lock the button since there isn't any 3 or 5 clicks on/off being an unregulated mech mod. In contrast style wise the others mentioned look sharp but the price tags are a bit out there for most! I've been seeing 50w mods priced about $50 lately compared to one $354- seen for the other VV/VW hand made epipes!

Another thing I suspect that may have been a problem is noticing the mention of changing the resistances on what tank? when trying different ones out on both mods I end up with either a Smok Tumbler or Smok T-Dux 4.0 on the Guardian I mech version and the Nautilus being run qat 11w or 13w while I knew I would recharging batteries more frequently since no one has any 3000mah 18350s out there. With the Nautilus needing 11-13w to get going that draws on the batteries heaveir as well as running the Guardian right up close to the max output explaining why the batteries would get pulled faster to begin with. But that makes for good vape! :D

Okay I have had this now for just under a week and here are my thoughts on this e-pipe.

I the one I am using currently is the one I received from Sweet Vapes. In the box you find the e-pipe, the beauty ring, and an instruction manual. The packaging was nothing special, but was on par with what I have received other devices in.

It would have been nice if they included a stem of some type. But most pipes I have looked at do not come with a stem with the exception of Karmy. I ended up ordering a stem from E-pipe Mods to use with it.

The device itself is very nice, the finish is awesome and the real wood feels good in the hand. Mine had none of the white spots in the finish that others have noted. The 2 things that stand out on this device are the size and the weight. This is heavy solid e-pipe. I have giant hands and this device fits will in them. The weight feels great as well.

Size compare first next to a 18350 then next to a Karmy and a 18500 Mod from E-pipe Mods

I do agree that the tank that best matches up with this is a Nautilus. I have also tried a Protank, and a 30s, I found that even at the lowest setting the Smok has too much power for the protank, I was getting a burnt taste. The 30s handled the power, but the vape was not as good as the Nautilus.

The one negative thing I can say about this E-pipe is that it is a battery hog.As I said above, I am using purple efest 18350s from Sweet Vapes. Here is the link for those interested.. I have been seeing between 3 to 4 hours of battery life under normal use. As a comparison, using the Karmy I would see 6 to 8 hours. I will be picking up a couple more batteries.

Over All I really like this device, great vape and flavor, large and fits good in my hand.

You didn't think it would be otherwise now did you? Why do you think I was looking for the highest mah on a 18350 size battery for? I knew the wattage would chew battery time in no time having run into this before. Once you get acustomed to 18650 mod with 3400mah or something like and try this out you'll know why.

As for the Nautilus that did prove to be the ideal tank I've tried on it so far out of the bunch here. I have the stainless steel replacement tank on however that seems to blend better between the stainless top and thread cover as well as the SMOK extra long epipe 510 drip tip!

Both SMOK Guardian E-Pipes.jpg

When trying that SMOK drip tip out on the Nautilus it seemed too loose and yet fit snug on the T-Dux 4.0 being a SMOK tank and I figured I would just have to use the regular tip that comes with the Nautilus and no big issue. Once I had the Nautilus on I went to put it on anyways to grab it for appearance and found it fit better while still not being as snug and secure as you would want it but useable. When ordering the first Guardian it was at that time the search for a longer drip tip came to mind and I plcked that out of the 8 that SMOK has out. Sometimes however I wish it was just a little shorter while it doesn't spin around loose when on the tank.

Oh dont get me wrong, I knew it would chew through batteries like a kid on Halloween, I guess I would have liked to see them build this to take an 18500 to get a little more life out of one battery.

I still think this is a great mod, I just want anyone thinking of picking this up, they should plan on picking up at least 4 batteries if they plan on this being there all day vape

At first I thought the Guardian I was going to be an 18650 like some of the other SMOK mech models are. But that also take 18350s. They a bit longer there since you can run with a tank that generally runs on the eGo type batteries or other low wattage devices. What I found instead was an epipe type battery extension. Smoktech Pipe Mod Battery Extension

Another problem with epipe mods most are unaware of is the need for flat top not button top batteries. Vape Squad's review on the Smok epipe mod out during the summer of 2013 gets into that as well as what I ran into with the Smok DSE601 automatic. http://www.vapesquad.com/review-the-smok-e-pipe-mod/

That gets into the drawbacks of 18350s there as well. And before even going with the Guardian I while looking around for 18650 type epipes I ran into one that sees a fold up arm that runs on both 350s and 650s. That would be the R80 seen at https://www.pbdragon.com/lair/mods/894-r80-sidewinder-e-pipe-folded-mech-mod.html

I took one look and saw the Guardian I and said no way! The Guardian I is however only half the size of the G2 but does well with a Smok Tumbler tank on it. https://www.pbdragon.com/lair/mods/945-smok-guardian-wood-e-pipe.html

But those were mechs not any VV/VW type epipe and like that other one others that looked primo went for way over budget type prices or were custom made without any prices being list with the photo gallery.

And by the way in 5 minutes HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :toast:

Got mine the other day and I've tried an iclear 30s and a naultilus on it. The iclear performs well but can't handle the higher wattages too well as expected, little bit of burnt flavour. The nautilus however is absolutely superb a perfect fit in my opinion, looks great on it as well as it sits flush with the 510 beauty ring. Burning though batteries but I guess that's to be expected with 18350s
