Sigelei sobra batteries saying check batteries when I try to charge

My sigelei sobra is saying check batteries when I try to charge it.I was given it by a friend and I'm using a Samsung wall charger and not a usb with adapter.can anyone give me any tips to solve it or do I need to replace the batteries.tia

Old devices and old batteries are often dirty and may have issues.

Have you, in fact, "checked the batteries"?

Tell us about them. Brand and model please, we know they are 18650s.

Are they also 5 years old?
