Does anyone know the best way to ship a couple vape things to Mexico? It would be a couple little mods and some ejuice. This is going to a VERY rural area. Any input and insight would be greatly appreciated. One of the people who I got off cigarettes went down there and started smoking again because he doesn't have access to stuff.

As a logistics expert for a living, it should all be very standard stuff however, ensure that you complete customs invoices completely and accurately. Also, if the mod you are sending has an internal battery or you are sending batteries along, it cannot go by air. It must go by ground.
If I were you, I would use UPS instead of USPS or FedEx.

Just curious can the person in Mexico make the purchase direct from the company on the Internet? Basically leaving the Logistics to the seller? Or does the very rural area not have Internet access? Just a thought here............. :thumb:
He does not have internet access where he is at. It is THAT rural.

Sorry, I've been extra busy lately. DO NOT SHIP E-liquid TO Mexico! You have a 90% chance of your friend not getting it. Gear has a better chance of making it if the package is under 1kg and there are no batteries involved. If you wish to sponsor this person your best bet is to buy from a website that already has the merchandise here to begin with.
If I remember the rules of the forum right I can't link to them but PM me and I can give you some pages.
If he buys from any vendor in the US they never guarantee delivery when doing international shipping. You can even pay for him with PayPal on this sites and he will get it in 2 business days.
If he has access to the Internet one day out of the week he himself can order from Mexico and pay without the need of a CC. They all offer the option to pay at an OXXO (Mexican 7Eleven). An he will get it within 2 business days.
I actually had to send my Velocity V2 to Texas so a friend could bring it out of fear it would get taken by customs.

The law is as follows.- You cannot import it, you cannot sell it. If you have it you can use it, love it and enjoy it. We are at a legal gray area. There is actually no real Import code here for this yet so you place a generic for "manufactured metal" under the electronics subdivision. If it comes through USPS as soon as it gets into the country it becomes MexPost (Correos de Mexico). If under a kilo it has a 10% chance of being checked, if checked it has a 50% chance of being held and since you have no tracking (you loose your tracking capabilities ones it's here) it is lost forever.
Ship it with DHL or something with tracking you might think. But 100% of private shipments get checked. He might get it out if he personally travels to the customs office that has it and pays up to 100% of it's price in "taxes".
How do we get stuff here then? Small risk full packages, import broakers and people flighing or driving to and from the US.
Your best bet it to buy from a Mexican E-vendor, it's safe and the markup is not as bad as the shipping and risk of sending it from the US.

Putting out a call to @TheMike21 who might have some insight..
Standard post, insured, would probably be the safest. I'm not up on laws regarding bringing/sending vaping materials into Mexico..

Good call! @Bionicunderwear Hope my rant helps. I will be glad to call your friend or email him. I have a standard email for everybody who wishes to Vape in Mexico and it is my mission to personally assist them to stay off cigs.

Thanks for responding. You were the one member I recalled listing Mexico as their locale.

PdC looked nice when we passed through there several years ago on a Caribbean cruise. Another of those "I wouldn't mind coming back just to R&R" places on our list.

@jambi Also lived and vaped in Mexico he can surely fill in anything I missed
You covered it really well in your post above. I'd only add that there's no reason to try to import eliquid when there's excellent Mexican made eliquid already available via internet there, and at prices that rival even crappy budget US vendors. I'm happy to post links upon request. Gear is also available domestically, though prices for gear are generally higher, thanks to grey area laws and insane shipping and importation costs. Also, don't expect to find the latest greatest stuff to hit the market at any price, it takes awhile for stuff to get into the hands of MX vendors, but it does get there eventually. When you see something you want that's in stock, my advice is to grab it while it's available, or risk watching it go out of stock for months.

RE: shipping...even if your internet vendor offers a free "Correos de Mexico" shipping option, pay the 100 pesos and opt for Estefetta or Redpack or whatever private carrier they're offering. Correos de Mexico is, in my experience reliable, but they're also slow. I can't speak for "very rural areas", but that was applicable in Oaxaca City. Maybe Correos is a better bet in remote areas. I can see a scenario where Correos has daily service to a remote area that Estefetta might send a truck to only once a week. Your friend will need to figure that out.

The only problem I can imagine is if your friend is in an area so remote that it doesn't have an Oxxo. The pay in Oxxo option is the fastest, easiest method by far for buying anything via internet in Mexico, and it just flat out works. I've done it dozens of times and never a single glitch. If you can scan and email a copy of your receipt after you make the payment, it'll save a day in processing time for your vendor, though it's not obligatory. The bank transfer thing, where you take your cash to a branch of the vendor's bank and deposit it into their account, is also an option, but it's more of a hassle. In other words, Oxxo es mucho mas rapido than any Mexican bank I've dealt with.

Also pass along to your friend, though all of the MX vendors I bought from had Paypal accounts, they often didn't work. Paypal knows these guys are selling items on their prohibited list, I suspect. The Oxxo thing is by far the fastest.

I have a feeling that if/when the FDA .... hits the fan in the US, Mexico will modify its current position regarding ecigs and become the largest manufacturer, grey-black marketer, and importer-exporter of ecigs to the US in the world. Ecig stores will line the border like pharmacies do now, and all of us will be making runs to Nuevo Laredo for the latest gear. :)

Good luck!

Thanks for jumping in @jambi I hope we do open up our eyes and start exporting to the US one day instead of blindingly following on the steps of the FDA as we sometimes do.
Maybe then our juice will make it into the mainstream reviewers ;)

@Douggro please let me know when you do come to this area, We'll have dinner and I'll let you sample some of my favorite Mexican liquids, if you let me know with time I'll even have some for you to take back Home.

Actually I open the invitation to anybody traveling to Playa del Carmen (Not Cancún unless you are willing to do the 1hr drive.)

Thank you for the gracious invite. :) Not sure if I'll ever be able to take you up on it, but if by chance we get that way again I'll be sure to reach out.

Crossing the border is not a problem as long as what his bringing is for personal use, of when bringing in to sell here what they do is not bring too much and bring different tanks different mods and different flavors so it doesn't look like you are going to resell. A trunk full of toptank kits is a red flag for example
