Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I'm getting rough hits whenever I start to vape after leaving it away for a period of time.
a period of time meaning after I take a nap, or wake up in the morning, the first few vapes(~4-5) were rough and it becomes smoother eventually,

Is it just me, not getting used to the strength of the vape? Or should I try not to tarlik the first few vapes?

Anyone with such experiences care to share?

Depends on what you mean by "rough". If you are using a tank system, it could be that the coil/wick/polyfil has dried out some. You may want to do a short pull on the tank without firing the unit to bring some eliquid into the wick/polyfil, etc.

I'll just try to define rough as much as i could here: I means that the vapor that I sucked in wasn't pleasant, made me feel like coughing, but after a few more puffs it is smooth as silk.. So I don't quite think is the cotton/wick right?

I'm still new to vaping Im just asking of anyone started off like what I'm experiencing ?

The cotton is still new, I'm using Taifun GT with 28awg coils for about 4/5 turns.

Definitely sounds like the cotton is not wet enough. Be sure to check that it is not burnt. If so you will need to replace the cotton. COtton does not take dry burns like silica does.

I am not familiar with the Taifun to know how the juice gets to the coils. If it is a Genesis style then you will need to tip it before use to get the wicks good and wet.

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I can get this even after 10-15 minutes of not vaping. Actually, now that I think about it, I think it might be the nicotine level. It doesn't happen to me on 6mg nic, but on 12 and 18 it does. It always goes away after a couple minutes. so not a big deal.

It is absolutely NOT a dry hit. It is totally different.

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I can get this even after 10-15 minutes of not vaping. I honestly don't know if it is some sensitivity to the PG or the coil going cold and needing to be heated back up first. It has stopped me from inhaling those first few hits though. Feels "rough" in the back of my throat area, and then dissipates. I lean towards a slight pg sensitivity.

It is absolutely NOT a dry hit. It is totally different.

Yeah I think I also get that kind of effect, and yeah it is at the back or deeper into the throat.. and no it is definitely not a rough hit. Looks like it is normal.. I think I'm a little sensitive to PG, but slowly adapting to the 70/30 mix..

if your still new, your throat is still pretty raw from smoking. once you have been vaping a while the nic kinda deadens the nerves, but when you stop for extended periods the raw tissue is fresh and exposed again.

even after almost 2 years if I chain vape a lot the next morning the first few puffs are a little rough. one trick is to try a softer delivery, if you can turn down the voltage a bit for a few puffs this may cool the vapor enough to get going.

Even after 2 years of vaping that first thing in the morning vape was rough and did bother my throat so I know what you are talking about. Now, I keep a clearo loaded up with some no nic-no flavor 50pg/50vg juice for those first few hits of the day. I also vape it for the last 30 minutes of the day. I seem to sleep better now that I do it this way.

When I was using a cheapo battery with a Protank II I'd get something similar. To me, it'd taste like ammonia. Not pleasant. I think the wicks were well saturated and the coil wasn't getting hot enough fast enough. Before the liquid would vaporize I think some of it would cook and maybe scorch a little. Same tank on a VW and that nastiness is a fading memory.

My theory is that nicotine soothes/numbs the throat a hit.

The first few hits, your lungs and throat were "fresh" without any nic numbing them out. So you feel the full force of the vape. After a few puffs, the nic starts to numb out your lungs/throat, and it gets much smoother.

Which would also explain why the first in the morning hits are always the roughest, as it's probably the longest you've gone without nic absorbing into your tissues.

I'm not sure if science currently backs this up, but I know there are some studies on the analgesic effects of nicotine and all that. I'm just going by personal experience, dipping gives you that tingly numb feeling on your lip, and a cigarette would always sooth my throat after I couldn't stop coughing when smoking tobacco alternatives.

One more thing I noticed, is that a cold wick/coil/atty seems to produce harsher vapor than after it warms up a bit. When chain vaping, after I drip, the first few hits are a bit harsher until the juice warms back up. When the whole device is stone cold it takes a bit longer before the vape smooths out.

I'm gonna jump in on this one too. I've only been at it about a month. Still have a stinky every day or two, but do have the kick in the neck on my first few vapes, I'm menthol, @ 24ml, but hardly coughed at all while using stinkies, but now almost every morning with the vaping. After a few it settles down. I have delayed hitting it sometimes and am suprised I can go a couple hours (at the longest) without the hit, but at some point I gotta hit it. It is harsh, and it usually "tightenes" up my chest for a few minutes. The reason I am quitting is because of my breathing problems, not been to the dr yet, don't need to, just can't breath like I used to and figure it's probably copd to a certain degree since I've smoked for 40+. I can already notice much improvements and am now commited because I know I can do this with this equip (mvpv2 & clearomizers) for now. Just got in some "tanks" but haven't played yet. I just figure many changes to me as I get used to this "new" way of living...... likin it so far and loving the no messy ashtrays (always hated them), stinky smells and can finally use BOTH hands for working instead of holding a cig 1/2 the time.....

It's normal. I do 36mg, but my first vape in the morning is 24mg. Either that, or I have to take shorter drags to let my throat get desensitized to the throat hit.

By evening time, even at 36mg, the throat hit feels lacking. I then have to force myself to stop vaping for say least an hour in order to get the throat hit which I enjoy.
