INTRODUCTION
The Frenzy Kit by GeekVape, in my opinion, is one of the nicest looking pod system as compared to their competitors in the market. In my previous review of the Trinity Alpha Kit, the form factor is very similar to the original Orion pod system, so is the Frenzy Kit. But, several tweaks had been made to make me favor more on the looks of the Frenzy Kit, such as the airflow control ring, removal of the refillable pod, the overall texture and aesthetics of it. The title of my review is "I'm digging the looks of it, but..." and I will give the full details of why I chose this title under my "final thoughts" portion.
Let's get into the overview of the Frenzy Kit; It is an 'All-In-One' ( AIO ) kit which comes with 2 different coils, a 0.7 Ω NS Mesh Kanthal coil and a 1.2 Ω NS SS316L coil which both needs to be screwed in directly onto part of the airflow adjustment ring. The pod itself is refillable and washable and has a 2 ml e-liquid capacity. The Frenzy Kit offers 2 different types of output power, one of which is the voltage output for the 0.7 Ω coil and another is the temperature control for the 1.2 Ω coil. It also offers a good enough battery capacity of 950 mAh, with 1A charging.

OPERATION OF THE FRENZY
ATTACHING / DETACHING POD TO DEVICE
- Unlike on both the Orion and Trinity Alpha, the Frenzy does not have a lever to attach or detach the pod. There is some grooves at the side of the pod and the device and when they fit nicely onto one another, it will slide down or down to attach or detach the pod respectively. If you are worried that the sliding feature isn't enough, you can have a peace of mind because there is a magnet that attracts the bottom airflow control ring to the device itself for a more secured attachment. The magnet itself feels weak but it does its job pretty well if you don't try to flick the pod out of the device intentionally, although I feel that the magnet can be a little stronger. Taking it the frenzy out of my bag or pocket doesn't have the pod detaching out of the device unless you are wearing a really tight pants.
INSTALLING / CHANGING COILS
- The Frenzy doesn't need to dispose the whole pre-installed pod and replace with a new one nor has press-fitted coil feature. It has that old school "screw into the base design" just like how it works on your normal sub-ohm tank. The coil itself is EXTREMELY small so always keep an eye on it and try not to lose it. To remove the base of the knurled airflow control, simply twist the thread-less airflow control with just a quarter turn anti-clockwise, with the pod facing downwards, and pull it out. Screw the coil into the protruding deck on airflow control, make sure to screw it tight, and do a quarter turn clockwise to lock the airflow control into the pod.
- It is IMPORTANT to note that you should at least finish all your e-liquid in the pod or drain out all of them into the sink before changing to a new coil, because if you don't, the e-liquid will make its way out from the drip tip once you unscrew the deck out of the pod, leaving a gap on the inside. I mean, you could possibly switch your coil while still having e-liquid inside the pod if only your tilt the pod sideways with the drip tip at the top. I personally don't like this feature as it could cause a potential mess to you and your work space. Also, I would also love the press-fitted coil feature as it is more convenient that way.
- On a side note, the coils on the Frenzy Kit are compatible with the Flint Kit.
FILLING / REFILLING
- The filling method for the Frenzy is different from the Orion and Trinity Alpha; instead of making it top-filled, GeekVape decided to shift the fill port to the bottom and for convenience's sake, it is not very ideal. Since the fill port has been located to the bottom of the pod, I have to slide the pod out from the device every time I want to refill. A white silicon plug is used to cover the dual hole fill port, in which GeekVape advertised it as "easy access bottom fill with anti-leak technology". I don't really agree with the term "easy access" as the easiest way to get access to the fill port is by having a top-fill method, but the "anti-leak technology" is at least, true, as I have not had any e-liquid leaking through the silicon plug. The silicon plug has a very tiny lip at the side for the easy removal, if not you will have a hard time removing the silicon plug with short nails. It also sits in place nice and snug without getting loose or making its way out randomly.
- The fill port is not very big and it fits just nice with a nic salt bottle tip. Anything larger than that, I'm afraid it might not fit.
- Be careful when refilling the pod because the pod's window has a black coating over it and it will be difficult to see the e-liquid capacity inside. I overfilled the first time and had made a mess all over the pod because it was too difficult to have a visual sensing of how fast I am filling up. I wouldn't mind if GeekVape made the pod a little less darker and they should have made it easier to refill in darker conditions, and not just in brighter conditions.
CHANGING / SWITCHING DIFFERENT MODES
- As I have mentioned in my introduction that the Frenzy offers 2 different modes which are the voltage and temperature control modes. You can't change these mode back and forth manually as it will automatically change it for you, depending on the type of coil you used. For example, the pre-installed 0.7 Ω NS Mesh Kanthal coil will provide you with the voltage mode with 3 different output powers; 2.5 V / 2.7 V / 2.9 V. Once you change to the 1.2 Ω NS SS316L coil, the Frenzy will detect it and automatically switch it to temperature control mode with again, 3 different temperatures; 420 °F / 440 °F / 460 °F.
- Click the power button 3 times and it will increase the power in ascending order, which is your typical Soft, Norm, Hard mode, and then round robins back to the lowest power setting; white ( 2.5 V / 420 °F ), blue ( 2.7 V / 440 °F ), green ( 2.9 V / 460 °F ).
CHECKING OF BATTERY LEVEL
- To check how much battery is left on the Frenzy, simply press the power button 2 times and the color code will indicate the battery level; green ( > 70 % ), blue ( 31 - 69 % ), red ( < 30 % ).
CHARGING THE FRENZY
- The Frenzy has 3 colors light indicator to indicate the charging process of the device; red ( 0 - 30 % ), blue ( 31 - 69 % ) and green ( 70 - 100 % ). During this process, the lights will be pulsing and once it is fully charged ( 100 % ), the green light will stop pulsing and will show a solid green light.
- Like many other pod devices, you won't have to worry about waiting an hour or so for the Frenzy to be fully charged before starting to vape as this device is capable of pass-through vaping, meaning that you are able to vape while charging the device. But remember to bring a power bank and micro-USB cable along!
- As you all know that Type-C cables are in high demand now and is requested by many of us. If you don't know what a Type-C cable is, one of the main features is that a USB-C cable that is capable of connecting into the device in reversible directions instead of only able to connect in one direction. It is just disappointed to see GeekVape not including a Type-C port on this device.
This is the summary of all the color indications you should know :
- Green Light Flashes 3 Times ( Press Button 5 Times ) - Power On / Off the device
- Solid White Light ( Press & Hold Button While Vaping ) - Voltage mode ( 2.5 V ) / Temperature Control ( 420 °F )

PERFORMANCE OF THE FRENZY
WICKING
- If you are wondering what e-liquid I use, all my nic salts are 50 / 50, 35mg because all the nic salts e-liquids in my local vape shops are only limited to 50 / 50.
- Both the 0.7 and 1.2 Ω coil wicks pretty well with both normal usage and chain vaping. How I normally wick up my new coil is by letting the coil soak for around 5 - 10 minutes before starting to vape on it. They keep up pretty well at the maximum power settings.
- As far as leaking and spit backs, I could not find any issues with both coils but there is a little bit of gurgling and spit back on the 1.2 Ω coil. My speculation for it is that the temperature control for the SS316L coil is too weak and is not hot enough to vaporize the e-liquid.
AIRFLOW
- There are knurling around the airflow control ring and the restriction for it, in my opinion, is not enough. It is not loose, and not restrictive enough, right in the middle of these two. The airflow control ring will adjust in my pocket sometimes due to the slight protrusion of the airflow control ring, but it didn't leak in my pocket, at least. It is not a big deal for me but it might be for some people.
- Its easy accessibility and ability to change the restrictiveness of the airflow is a huge plus for me and it doesn't look ugly, at least to me. There are 2 small airflow holes at the sides and choosing to close / open how much airflow sometimes can be annoying as I need to find a good lighting conditions to adjust it. This is because the airflow slots and the airflow ring are both dark in colors and it is really hard to see how much I need to adjust the airflow. I wish that GeekVape had made the surrounding airflow slots in a more contrasting color so that it will be easier to adjust the airflow.
- The airflow ranges from a medium restrictive MTL at wide open to a tight MTL at the smallest airflow opening. The 1.2 Ω coil has a tad bit more of MTL restrictiveness than the 0.7 Ω coil. Both coils are smooth all across the board, no turbulence nor whistling whatsoever, but I wouldn't say it is a quiet vape. It does produces a fair bit of sound and it can be heard if you are trying to stealth vape.
CHARGING
- The its 1 Amp charging speed, is quite impressive as it is able to charged from a fully flat battery up to a fully charged battery in just 1 hour. Although it charges a little slower than the Orion, but it is still faster than the Trinity Alpha which charges close to 2 hours with just 50 mAh more battery capacity.
- I know this sounds rather odd, but I tried charging the Frenzy with a Samsung plug and the LED did started to pulse but it did not charge a single bit of battery after leaving it there for 1 hour. As for Apple plug, it charges normally. I am not sure what was happening, but it is what it is.
REPLACEABLE COIL & BATTERY LIFE
- Both the 0.7 and 1.2 Ω coils had lasted me for about 6 refills which in my opinion, is not bad.
- The battery life using the 0.7 Ω coil lasted about 1.5 pods ( 3 ml ) whereas the 1.2 Ω coil lasted about nearly 1 pod ( ~ 1.8 - 1.9 ml ). During this testing period, I used all 3 power settings at random depending on my needs.
FLAVOR & VAPOR PRODUCTION
- The flavor produced by the 0.7 Ω coil is really pretty average, to be honest. For the first few hits after wicking the brand new coil, it is quite good, but it started to drop in flavor after taking more hits. Don't get me wrong, it isn't muted in any way, but the flavor is not as dense as compared when I first wick up the brand new coil.
- The same goes for the 1.2 Ω coil but this time round, the flavor is a tad better than on the 0.7 Ω coil.
- The easiest way for me to explain the flavor of the Frenzy is by comparing it between the Orion and the Caliburn. The Frenzy is in between the both of them in which Orion flavor is kinda meh and the Caliburn flavor is really good. That is where the Frenzy's flavor stands, right in the middle, not meh, not good, just average.
- The airflow and power settings will directly impact on the flavor on both coils. I found that the more airflow I close, the more the flavor is going to suffer. So I normally would vape it with a wide open airflow. As for power settings, I find that the Frenzy doesn't provide enough power to vape, especially on the temperature control; it hits extremely weak even at 460 °F, which is also the maximum it offers. I wish GeekVape had made the Frenzy a more powerful device; offer a higher voltage and temperature control settings.
- Vapor production on both coils are quite decent for a pod system.
THROAT HIT
- Throat hit on both coils are pretty average, not hard nor soft. Throat hit lovers out there, you won't be happy with how it packs a punch to your throat unless you are using a 50 mg nic salt.
FINAL THOUGHTS
So what do I think of the Frenzy Kit by GeekVape? First off, my subtitle is "I'm digging the looks of it, but...", and the reason I said that is because I really do like the looks of the Frenzy, but, I expected the performance and flavor of it to be better. When I say performance, I mean the power modes, both the voltage mode and temperature control mode. The latter is really poor in its performance as it hits really weak. If it had increased its temperature, I am sure the flavor would be much better and the gurgling and spitting would be minimized, or even better, eliminated. As for voltage mode, it hits pretty decent at maximum mode, but can still be improved by increasing the voltage output.
For the exterior performance, such as the buttons, is not bad as the placement of it is at the perfect location; easily reachable. Button is very nice and clicky but is unresponsive sometimes when I try to power on / off the device, it doesn't do what it is supposed to do. The Frenzy has some weight to it and it feels really good in the hands from the metal part of the body to the resin panels. I love how it is nicely built and has some good build quality to it. The drip tip feels good in the mouth but it isn't removable so if you are trying to customize the looks of your Frenzy, you are unable to do it.
If GeekVape were to make a version 1.5 or version 2 of the Frenzy, I would highly recommend them to look into these few main factors:
- USB-C compatible
- Increase its power modes
- Able to change coils when there are still e-liquid in the pod
- Make the pods more visible
Would I recommend the Frenzy? I would recommend this to those who are looking to pick up vaping to stop smoking but to those who are looking for a pod system that packs with more power, this isn't the one I would recommend you to buy.
