Replacement for electric tape???

The passthrough that i got a couple weeks ago didnt last long. The top was loose and everytime a carto was put in the wires got twisted a little more each time until they twisted so much they broke. I untwisted both wires (red and black) and stripped them down. I touched them together and they work. The problem is I dont have electric tape and I don't have a car here in college and I dont have the time to go on a 2 hour walking\bus journey to go into town. Any replacements? Would duct tape work? Painters tape? Could I use the adhesive part of a bandaid? I have everything but electric tape

For temporary, my husband tells me duct tape will work until you get some electrical tape. He's knows a lot about that stuff.

Everything you mentioned will work okay.

The bandaid might be the easiest to work with because of its thinness and flexibility, but the adhesive is designed so the bandaid can be removed and might not last very long. I would give this a try first, though. You can always replace it with something else later.

In a bind, I've a wrapped a plastic shopping bag strip tightly around twisted wires and melted it (take care not to overmelt or burn yourself with the molten plastic).. then taped over top for a more permanent solution.

Yes duct tape should work, the others you mentioned will not.

GAHHHH the wire came unsoldered from the circuit board. I am so done with ....ty ego wiring!!!!

If you are at college, there should be an electonics lab on campus. See if you can get one of the electical engineering students to solder it for you.

Man your asking for trouble. Get someone to solder them and put heat shrink on the ends. IF you get a short then your battery could become slag in no time. Would not be fun if it's in your pocket at the time. If it's under warranty send it back. Band-aids, duct tape etc is not a fix.

If you mess about with it you only have yourself to blame if it goes pop, I once saw the result ( photograph) of someone placing a detonator in their mouth where the heat of thier mouth caused it to go bang, I imagine a tampered with ecig would not be too disimilar. You would only do it once.

I'll have to agree with that. If it's under warranty, have it replaced. If it's out of warranty, it's toast.

You don't want to be on the national news as one of those folks that their battery exploded. I'de be willing to bet that many if not most were instances like this. That battery has a low internal resistance. When they short they will get real hot.

When given the opportunity and appropriate, I'll use heat shrink tubing over any type of tape!

Okay I opened the 3 dead ego twist batteries in the room and have come to the realization they all died in the same exact way. The red connector and the black connector wire came off of the main circuit board. To test I manually touched the red and black wires to their respective voltage and ground connection spot. Upon connection the button would fire and the battery showed no signs of problems. I do not have a soldering iron here but I plan to get one (or borrow) and simply touch the iron to the soldered glob and push the wires into the liquid metal to fix all three of them. As far as the passthrough goes I spent an entire day looking for alternatives and realized its not something you want to half .... The passthrough IS covered by warranty so that will be fine.
