Dull your needle for safety!
I have not seen this mentioned yet so I thought I might. As hypodermic needles are quite sharp and able to easily give you a shot of E-fluid by accident (Which I don’t think anyone wants.) It occurred to me that a good trick is to round off the tip of the needle with a file. Dulling the needle to enough that an inopportune sneeze doesn’t lead to an accidental injection is a very good idea and lets anyone who wants to inspect your kit know that it is only used for refilling. :thumb:
Also, a curved tip syringe (All plastic tip syringe.) also works and makes a very good statement about your intentions. These are usually found in farm supply stores or your local veterinarian if you ask really nice.

Hi All,

I use a syringe to fill all my carts. In the US syringes are very easy to get. You can buy syringes at any pharmacy. Just say you need a pack of (they usually come in tens) insulin syringes. If they give you a dirty look (...... Addicts) say it is for diabetes.

When they ask what kind you want, say you want either 1/2cc or 1cc

The 1 cc holds twice as much liquid but keep in mind that it is fatter (diameter) so refilling may be harder.

It should cost no more than 2-3 Bucks.

I was very insulted the last time I went to buy syringes for my e-liquid because that ignorant pharmacist slipped a brochure for HIV safety and ...... use and such...
I hope she smokes 2 packs of analogs a day!!!! muahahaha

Insulin needles are usually only 1/2" long (not long enough to reach to the bottom of deep carts) and a small gauge. the one I am using is a SyrVet 3cc/ml with a 20 gauge 1" needle marked for veterinarian use only and it works great. If you measure out how much fluid your cart takes you can draw the exact amount and it makes filling a very fast operation.
I got mine at Coastal Farm and Ranch. I got a slightly strange look but that is because of my appearance. I dress well, in all black and wear a black Fedora. I could have gone in and bought a shovel and received the same look. They still never questioned why I needed the syringe. I have been buying syringes for years from farm stores, for various hobby and shop needs. I have still yet to be questioned.

I got my 2 curved tip monoject 412 syringes(work great) from an oral surgeon, and had a couple of very small 1cc syringes(with needle) left over from when I gave myself allergy shots years ago.

I've also heard you can ask a pharmacist to give you a needleless 5 ml syringe, to assist you in giving your pet medicine.:)

Oh, I didn't mention that I was from New York City, Where drugs are all over the streets. I imagine that others in smaller towns or cities will not get that response I got. But I just had to mention it because it was quit unpleasant. As for the needle being a half inch long. That shouldnt be a problem either because the carts are not that long.

What e-cig are you using that has such a long cart?

Even so it is efficient and good for the refil for me.

Thanks.

Both www.johnsoncreeksmokejuice.com and www.puresmoker.com sell syringes as well as great e-liquid if you are looking to find them--the length of the needle is important to suck the e-liquid out of the bottle as the bottle gets past the halfway mark empty--not so much an issue with filling the cartridge as it is getting the e-liquid out of the bottle--Hope that helps--Sun:)

did a little googling and found some blunt needle 10-packs. Some are $5.65 a 10-pack. Dunno if theyre sterile or not, and dont know anything about the company, but nonetheless...

Blunt needles in Lab Supplies- SmallParts.com Keep in mind that the larger the gauge #, the smaller the diameter of the needle

As for "that look" - I got that look (along with quizzing as to what it was for) from a pharmacist several years back when I went in to get just the syringe portion (no needle). Needed one for administering oral medication to a phelsuma grandis, which is exactly what I told him. Of course he was all "huh? what's that?" :)

Go to Staples and buy the printer ink cartridge syringes if you need a blunt tip--they work great--Sun

Well, I doubt that you would have a local farm store in NYC. I guess make friends with a EMT?

I am using a Janty Dura. The cart is 15/16" deep. It nearly swallows the 1" needle. A nice deep cart.:D

Just ordered a syrings from JC with my last order so I could pre-fill some carts for driving and I am annoyed. I have to fill them all with the same flavor!

When I go to clean the syrings... I suck water in and out until I think it is clean. I pull the back (pusher) off the syrings, disconnect the needle (which I dulled after I read this post cause I am a MEGA klutz!) and then I wait for it to dry. I heard if you get tap water in your juice it can breed bacteria and germs in it... so I don't use it again until it is dry.. but it takes more than an hour to dry inside!!!!! SOOOO frustrating... may have to buy a second one.
