Common harsh juice causes:
1) The nic (but 8 mg is nowhere near too high so that's probably not it).
2) BAD VAPORIZATION (more on this below)
3) PG/VG/Flavoring reaction.
4) VV e-cig voltage too high for the ohms.
Did you mention what ohms the cartomizer is? Do you happen to know or have a link? I think the volcano is 3.7 volts but it may differ depending on model.
Now, as to BAD VAPORIZATION.... When the e-cig doesn't work right, for a myriad of reasons...it won't vaporize the liquid properly. When that happens, the vapor is either too hot OR it's kinda too cold ...like "too big of drops" like heavy steam...and it's irritating because it isn't smooth. Add to that the fact that the flavoring may be more...um...irritating that way too particularly menthol (YUCK! menthol! lol)
A lot of things go wrong with an e-cig. Voltage/ohms mismatch. Poor wicking/dry carto. Underpowered stuff. Bad connections. Bad air flow.
Add to all that the possibility of irritation due to being sensitive to ingreadients and...hard to tell. You need to get some other juice, maybe from a diff vendor just to double check (nothing against that vendor tho). Get some simple flavors like ...IDK...grape or vanilla or one of my favorites...lime. Something that you'd hope has a simple recipe.
You can try different PG/VG combinations and different nic levels and different flavors. If they all give you problems we'll double check the hardware.
The super-mini e-cig (that looks like a cig) will likely vaporize poorer than the volcano. Maybe that will be a good thing for you, but for most it isn't.
