Hey guys. First off, sorry if this is the wrong subforum for asking questions. Mods please move it if necessary.

Alright, so, I need a little help figuring out how to calculate resistance when doing a build like this. Even better, if someone could help me out and give me some advice on how many wraps around [x]mm diameter I would need to do to achieve something in the range of my goal resistance. I normally use steam-engine to double check myself, but their website doesn't offer any settings for doing a parallel wrap that consists of wrapping different sized wires. I will be using Kanthal 26ga and 28ga side-by-side (to where one full wrap is just 26ga & 28ga and the coil would essentially be alternating 26-28-26-28-26-28)

I planned on doing dual coil and aiming for around .2-.25 ohms with this build, and they will need to be micro coils, I could use either .2mm or .3mm diameter.
If anyone has suggestions on whether a build like this would be better dual or single coil, I'd like to hear it! I'm used to using DC, but have built singles before and I enjoy them as well.

This build is going to be put into an authentic Atomic by MCV Philippines.

Thanks for any help, and I apologize if this is in the wrong place. If I need to move it or you think I would have better luck posting elsewhere, please let me know. I'm really trying to get started on this ASAP as I'm a bit limited on time this evening. But I could always just do it tomorrow, I'll just be annoyed by my current coils needing replaced while vaping tonight.

Much appreciated ECF :)

I could be totally wrong, but this would technically run the same as a quad-coil build right? So you would want each individual coil to be around 0.8Ω to get to 0.2Ω, right? Try wrapping 5 wraps each on a 3mm coil, see where that gets you. It will likely be a bit higher than 0.2Ω, how much? I'm not sure. President Not Sure.

ETA: You do mean wrapping both the 28 and 26g at the same time correct? To make one coil? Not twisting them or anything. Also, you mean two of these parallel coils right? Just clarifying.

I actually have no idea if it would run the same as a quad coil build to be honest.

For clarification, you mean 5 wraps on a 3mm inner diameter, right? Yes, I will be wrapping the 28 and 26 next to each other at the same time, not twisting. I will be holding a strand of 26 and 28 together, parallel, and will then proceed to wrap them around the [suggested] 3mm ID tool 5 times (a total of 10 wraps, 5 of each gauge, alternating size.) I will most likely go ahead and attach this coil into the RDA and stick it on the ohm reader to see what kind of resistance it reads. If it reads, say, .4Ω, adding a second coil wrapped exactly the same is going to net me .2Ω resistance?

P.S. I like money

In parallel the resulting resistance will be approx. .177 per inch, on a 5.64 drill bit that would be 6 wraps of 28/26 per coil. Oh I used Steamengine to calculate this so it could be a bit off. I'm usually within 1/2 a wrap when working at 1.5-2ohm. What I do is adjust the wire diameter on the para tab, to be the average of 26 and 28 gauges, so .363mm. making the calculator think I am working 2 wires at .363mm..
