Depending on how much burntness there is, that may be too late for some coils.... Usually, when I get even a *hint* of burntness, my coil is done. I just figured out that with my Kabuki tank, the coils seem to go dead on flavor completely before burning out. I really thought there was something going on with my dentures and taste issues, but there was not. I did up my flavorings in response, thinking I had less surface area in my mouth... But nope, it was my coil!

That being said, different coils can tolerate different things, so you may be able to figure out the "sweet spot" wattage wise for your juice after turning it up extremely slowly, and then seeing where that taste occurs, it will give you a better idea of what wattage(s) work for your juice and coils, and extend coil life if you are keeping the vape cooler. This kind of makes sense *to me*.

Best of luck,

Anna

I use the Baby Beast Tanks and chain vape and these coils last me a good 3 or 4 weeks. Even then I never get the burnt taste. I usually have to change the coil because it starts flooding or leaking. I DIY my juices, and the only sweetener I add is 1-2% Ethyl Maltol (Cotton Candy). Like everyone has said it is probably the juice you are using that is gunking up your coils. If you don't want to change Juice, you could try diluting the flavor a bit by adding some VG. Most juices are over flavored anyway. You can buy the juice at a higher Nic level and then half it with some VG and see if that helps. You can purchase VG in the 1st aid section of your local Wally World. Other than that get a good RTA and some premade coils and cotton from your local vape shop. They should show you how to install the coils and wick them. Hope that helps.

Another consideration on your coils is to make sure you are priming them good, put some drops on the coils and the airflows and then after filling your tank, close the airflow and take some deep draws without firing your mod. Like sucking a thick milkshake thru a straw. This draws juice into the coil. Now let your tank sit 5-10 minutes so the coil gets saturated. Coils also have a little break in period, so start your wattage off low and then gradually up the wattage until you find your sweet spot. Good Luck.

I have the big baby, coils in the box didn't even last a whole month for me lol burned one in about 3-4 days the other managed to last about 1-2 weeks. Smok has shaddy Quality on their coils imo. And before you ask i know how to prime and use the tank and my juices are pretty much clear all around. Coil life is completely subjective, barely anyone gets the same life out of the same type of coils. I even managed to burn a triton 2 coil in less than a week whilst chain vaping, that one was a bit hilarious to me though.

So what coils do you use that last longer than the Smok coils?

I haven't used a factory coil in years, but I went through my share of frustration with them. Most of that was just bad workmanship in Protank coils (Yeah, old tech, but those and the Nautilus were what made me start building my own).

I do have a friend that says his Smok TFV4 gives him about a month of coil use blowing medium sized clouds at 60W. Others say two weeks and they are shot. Juices vary and coil life dies with the speed of the crud accumulation that different juices create.

Yes, that is the same result I have at around 60-70 watts on the factory Smok Coils. I enjoy building my own coils mostly but like the ease of prebuilts for work and traveling

I must be the luckiest stock coil user on the planet, because my Baby Beast coils last me on average about 70ml before they get swapped and get the boil-clean treatment. TBH, they would probably last longer but they get swapped when my Subtank OCC's finally gunk up at about 70ml.

I don't use heavy, sweet liquids--I use mostly my own DIY liquids. I have tanks from Kanger, Smok, Vaporesso, Kamry, Eleaf and Joyetech. My tanks are in a 10-deep rotation. I don't chain vape any one flavor, but there are three or four that get vaped more than the others. I do both MTL and DL, depending on the flavor, nic strength and hardware setup.

Maybe I'm holding my lips on the drip tip just right and/or the Vape Ghods have blessed me. Or maybe the mini Buddha statue over there are the library table really does give me good luck (the little Asian lady I bought it from said it would).

I was perplexed until I read the part about the juice. My cheap suggestion would be to cut the juice strength in half. Buy a bottle of unflavored, mostly VG, in your nic strength and adding it to the juice and see if you still like the flavor. I have found most companies are using between 8-15% flavorings. We all know the sweet ones really gunk up the works.
I use the .5Ω coil in my nano and they last me about 4 weeks. I do make my own juice an 80vg/20pg with a 4%caramel flavor. I vape at 18W and blow clouds of lovely vapor.
Give it a try, at least you won't have to learn to build coils. (That being said I do know how to build coils and have had some good luck. I am just a tad busy/lazy these days and with coils lasting me so long I take the easy way out.)

My Smok Q2 (0.6 ohm) coils used at 32 watts usually last at least two weeks before tasting unacceptable. I get through 10 ml of home-made juice per day, so about 140 ml minimum per coil.

My typical draw is 2-3 seconds in length. I tend to take five to ten draws in quick succession, then put it down for a bit.

My main juice is 63% VG, 1% water, 36% PG flavouring - mostly raspberry flavours with a bit of menthol. I do not add any sweetener.

I use the Smok TFV8 Baby and TFV8 Big Baby tanks, mostly the latter, almost always with the air flow wide open.

I prefer these coils because of the lower power requirements, extended battery life and cooler vape:
V8 Baby-Q2 (*0.6* ohm version) 20 - 50W (best used at 30 - 40W)
V8 Baby X4 Core (0.15 ohm) 30 - 70W (best used at 45 - 60W)

I could really use some help here. I've been vaping for 7 years and lately I'm burning through .5 ohm kanger coils for my nano in 1 to 2 days. Went down to the local brick and mortar shop and they said try a smok stick v8 with the baby tank --.25 ohm coil. Coil lasted one day!!!
Is there a setup I can purchase that won't do this? I've read about the temp controlled devices being better options for chain vapers. What about the smok alien tc?

Background:
1) Yes, I prime the coil, let sit for 10 min, and pull the liquid through a few times prior to firing the mod up.
2) No, the coils aren't bad. My husband uses them too and has no issues, but doesn't vape as much as I do.
3) Yes, my eliquid is sweet
4) No, VG isn't too high
5) I'm waiting 40 sec between pulls (which is super tough by the way) and the coils are still burning in a day.

Others have made similar suggestions, so I am just adding my own voice to that.

First, invest in some cleaner burning e liquid, try provari fuel ProVari Fuel E-Liquid or Heathers Heavenly Vapes E-Liquid Flavors : Heather’s Heavenly Vapes, Top Quality Custom E-Liquids Both have good juice that doesn't junk up coils so badly as other places.

Second is not to put too much wattage on your coils, just turn it down some from where you are now.. vape the lower end of whatever wattage range your coils fire.

Third is to build your own coils.. go ahead and get one of those coils building kits, and try your hand at it giving yourself plenty of time to learn. It's easier than it looks, I would recommend staring with a tank like this one here to learn on, it's cheap and so very easy to build its unbelievable, plus the flavor it produces is great.. then once you have the hang of it, you can graduate to something a little more difficult.

$8.54 Nectar Styled Genesis RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer - stainless steel + POM / 22mm diameter at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

That way, even if you don't build all the time, you have the knowledge to fall back on. I'm a woman who kills plants and I can build with no problems, so you can learn too! It's easier than it looks!

Mini Buddhas have always been good to me. The ones from Ehpro, at least!

Very hard to predict where you're going to end up or why in someone else's multi-wire, multi-coil concept of what a great vape is.

In the most basic terms, you must have adequate juice flow to chain effectively. A few hit on your problem citing too much power. Yes, too much power for the flow. A few others the solution, rebuild.

The latter is on point. You know the power level (heat) you enjoy with that particular recipe. Keep it by building the wind that gives it adequate juice flow (for the temp target, watts) and you'll be a happy camper.

Sometimes just slightly upping the coil diameter can be just the ticket. Or a slight modification to juice channels or ports. Likewise with airflow to augment vaporization. The tools needed are simple and effective. You may even have them…like common drill bits or nail buffers. Maybe even the following.

Can't emphasize enough that there is a method of winding that invariably affords you that kind of precision. I've written a few things about it.

Don't give up on your juice! :D

Always ready to help if you are.

Good luck. :)

Like @MacTechVpr said, it sounds like to much power for the amount of juice flow.
If you don't want to get into rebuilding, then you could try adding a little distilled water to the juice (5%) or some PG. (maybe 20-25%) Both will thin the juice and allow better juice flow through the wick material to the coil. Both will also lower the boiling point of the juice so you can use less power. If you decide to try this add a little of the PG or water at a time to your tank as you can't take it out again but you can always add a little more...

I found that the farther I was from my last cigarette the better the vape tasted and the less flavoring I needed. Once I started DIY I began to mix even lower flavor percentages than store juices and my coil life rose significantly.

Vaping unflavored nic also contributes to longer wick and coil life. About half of any given day I'm vaping unflavored nic mix. Clearer juice = less gunk on the coil.
