I received both of mine today and upon tossing batteries in them to make sure they operate, I'm slightly concerned about the battery door and how it's going to treat the battery wrapping over long-term use.

Having only opened and closed the battery door a few times, I'm noticing small divots in the wrapping which brings me to the question - why would they put such a small negative connector nipple on this thing with hardly any surface area at all to disperse the door pressure on the battery?

    Any reports for long-term use?

Although I don't own a Deco, I nevertheless feel urged to add my 2 cents.

First of all, as long as the damage is done to the wrap on the negative end of the cell, this should not be a safety issue for the Deco, because the inside of the battery compartment is isolated properly.
I would not use those cells in other mods without isolation or even dual cell devices though, because they might short out when touching another cell or the body of the mod.
Double wrapping the cell with a clear wrap could possibly solve the issue, because those have the tendency to be a bit more durable, but the compartment seems to be a snug fit already, so this option might be unavailable.
Using clear wraps alone might work as well, but I'd advise against it, because then it's a lot harder to notice any damage in the wrap at all.

Secondly, slide over mechanisms like that one always have the tendency to damage the wrap over time, even more so than standard battery doors.
This is the reason I skipped the Deco, although I really enjoy the look and feel of the device.

Unfortunately the issue in the Deco is the vertical compression due to the stiff spring and tiny surface area of the negative connector. Adding an additional wrap is only going to lengthen it ever so slightly. I appreciate the advice.

And yeah, I'm not a fan of side-loading mods either. I always feel like no matter how careful you try to be to get the batteries in and out, there's at least a little battery wrap damage on the ends. When it comes down to the brass tacks however, I'll take mod performance over my flip-top vs. side-loading battery preference. I realize some of the older flip-top battery cap mods have had their durability issues, but newer mods like the Innokin Kroma Z 217 have taken this into consideration and used better materials for the battery door, latch, and hinges.
