I have the aspire Nautalis mini on an iStick mini (variable voltage only), and the coils say 1.8 ohms and 4.2 - 5 volts, however on all the ohms law charts they say the optimal voltage is 3.7 to avoid burning juice and anything over 4.2 volts can burn the coils.

Do those charts only apply to those who are building/rebuilding? I get the best flavor and vapor on one of my favorite juices (100% VG) at around 4.2-4.5 volts.

Can someone give me the cliff notes on the whole ohms law thing. You know, the ohms/voltage for dummies version? Is 4.4 volts too high for my set up?

I use a Nautilus Mini as well and I vape at or around 4 to 4.4 volts all the time. That chart is for more of a suggestion for "optimal atty life". It's cool to use it that high. I've never had any problems. Just make sure to wick the atty really well before using. If I vaped at 3.7 volts I'd hardly get any vapor at all. Plus with the high VG I do believe that a higher voltage is called for, or lower voltage. Not using high VG I may have that part backwards.

I can't address the Ohm's law thing other than regurgitating the mathematical equation.

You're fine at 4.2 volts on that setup. It's within the coil manufacturer's recommendation and the mod's capacity. At 4.5v, however, that tank is drawing over two amps and making over 11 watts, which exceeds eLeaf's spec of 10 watts. Honestly, I don't think that's a serious safety issue. It may shorten the life of the mod's electronics, but it isn't likely to blow up, IMHO (YMMV, at your own risk.) If the mod's not getting uncomfortably hot in your hand at 4.5v, I don't think you have a real issue. Most Li chemistry batteries can handle that kind of discharge rate except for tiny ones; the limit is probably on the electronics board. You might want to upgrade to the iStick 20, or even the MVP 2.0, the latter being an 11 watt mod, and both admittedly being larger than your Mini. Neither are expensive, having been supplanted by newer and more powerful models. And VW is very nice, compared to VV. Just a thought.

EDIT: I'm on my tab, and can't link you, but you'll find a nice calculator at ohmslawcalculator.com
