Water should be included. Fillers and additives are not used. It's remnants of other chemicals and water that create % of impurity.

Same thing, only different

if that was true they wouldnt state 100% pure while still testing out below that

Could be wrong. Either way whats.2%

While fillers are not used chemical analysis always shows naturally occuring trace elements

Water content, or More Precisely, the lack of Water is given by the Anhydrous Percentage.

I am not a scientist or claim to know one,
I used to own a dairy chemical co., We blended sanitation chemicals from concentrated raw materials. One of the products we blended was Iodine based teat dips.
besides the iodine we used emollients normally packaged in a concentrated blend. I bought glycerin in bulk(275 gallon totes). When bio diesel glycerin came on the market it was touted as a cheap replacement for natural VG, Just as pure Just as good is what they said. In reality the glycerin from bio-fuel is a hazmat problem for fuel manufactures and they would like to dump it on the market to eliminate the problem ($$$$) for themselves.
Long story short. We tried some as a test, the customer agreed in a effort to save money.(BENNTAG was the vendor pushing the product!) The stuff is dirt cheap and abundant. We pressed on before it was restricted.
I do not know the current status of Bio-diesel based glycerin, but at the time,in short order the FDA, USDA stepped in and did not allow the
use of Bio-diesel based glycerin as a additive for sanitizing teats.
It contained impurities(toxic fuel related) that cannot be removed with out some very expensive equipment to purify it. At the time it cost as much to filter it as regular old market priced natural VG. but in the effort to save money.
The stuff we trialed FAILED miserably, was too harsh for the skin of the teat on milk cows. The process to make bio-fuel requires some very nasty chemicals(lye is one of them: a strong caustic!) to separate the fuel from the plant matter. These chemicals leach in to the glycerin, this caused a PH problem in the final product, way to high for
the skin of the cow.
For me I'll pass on any sketchy glycerin that is dirt cheap or has no COA with it .

Yes, I have been reading about this whole situation with the dumping of biodiesel glycerine on the market. Seems a number of years ago the glycerine market was depressed because of it. As you said, some companies were even paying people just to take it off their hands. This is what caused Dow Chemical to close their only American synthetic glycerine plant (where Optim was made). Now it is only made in Germany.

However, as long as it has been refined and purified, I doubt there is a problem with it. Glycerine is glycerine no matter where it comes from (assuming it is of high purity). I really have no issue vaping it as long as it is in accordance with the USP. My only goal with starting this thread was to see if I could find the highest quality VG, but this seems like an impossible effort.

I've never noticed an issue with the VG I bought from any supplier, but I have noticed a huge difference in NIC base, and the best by far came from Nude Nicotine.

You should consider trying their VG - they say it's the same VG as in their Nic, it comes with a COA, and they say it is sourced in the US (although they don't disclose the source) : Vegetable Glycerin (VG) - Nude Nicotine

The only place i buy my nic pg and vg they even send spec sheets from their pre-approval process before they accept a product delivery, they actually turned a nic shipment away as it didnt meet their specs.
