Hi all. I've not been able to find a specific cleaning thread for the Prodigy so I thought I'd start one. If there is one (mods) please feel free to delete this one or combine the two.

The Prodigy like any other piece of equipment has to be cleaned from time to time and here are my techniques and questions about it:

Take it apart and clean everything you can get to.

1. Unscrew and remove the atty and clean the threads with a soft non lint bearing cloth. I use a paper towel but non lint bearing cloth sounds so much better. Vinegar works well for me to get the 'tarnish' off the brass.

2. Wipe down the top of the adapter with vinegar and use a plastic coffee stirrer wrapped in a paper towel to clean the top and threads

3. Unscrew the adapter and clean the underside the same way as above. Contacts and threads.

4. Clean the top contact of the switch AND the threads in the same manner.

5. Unscrew the bottom connector and clean the threads in the same manner. (on the cap and the body) You'll get some black gunk off them.

6. The connector on the underside of the switch I have not yet been able to get to as I really don't know how to remove and replace the switch but it looks like brass and could probably use the same polishing.

Any other ideas or suggestions?

I noticed poor performance on my Prodigy, then it would intermittently not work at all sometimes. I tried new batteries, atomizers, nothing seemed to work well.
Knowing that brass tarnishes, I went to Walmart and purchased a tube of MAAS brand metal polishing cream. I used a Q-Tip to apply and wipe off all of the brass contacts. I was amazed on the amount of black tarnish that came off of the contacts. I mean, it was a lot! Now my contacts are bright and have a "chrome-like" shine. My Prodigy was only about a month old. The performance is up to par again... love my Prodigy.
No doubt basic maintenance is needed for a smooth running vaporizer.
