Finally (took'em long enough), Wismec has seen fit to give us an Update for our Presa 100 TC's. Here's what the change log says: Dated 10/26/2016

TC Software 1.10
Firmware V4.03

"Display interface modified, customo logo and preheat funciton available."

Here's the link:

Wismec TC Software for Upgrading Presa TC100W - Wismec Electronics Co.,Ltd

The Preheat function will be nice, if it works as we expect it to (I use Power mode 100% of the time on mine), with NO surprises. The interface looks really different though, some will like it and others not so much. The Logo, I personally have no use for. I have updated mine and am using it right now, with no ill effects. (There's also an Update for the Presa 75 TC on the Update page dated 10/26/2016)

I made this New thread because when I went to the Old one it was marked "Closed".

Ah ha ! I had to experiment a bit as to whether you did that with the Presa "On" or "Off". I figured it out though, do it while it's "On". Did you just figure that out on you're own, or, did I miss it being written somewhere ? By the Way, Thanks lumberjack, it's appreciated.

I haven't used TC even one time on my Presa 100 TC, but plan to get into it soon, just to see what TC is all about. With that said, what should be a good starting setting for this New "Preheat" function anyway ?? I will use SS of some sort (316L 28g ?) and start off at about 420F wicked with Rayon and 30 watts in a Fev4, but what to initially set the "Preheat" at, just to get going you know.

No, you didn't miss it. Wismec is horrible at documentation! The only way I knew was that the VTC Mini does this the same way (and the changes ARE documented for that device).

I don't use preheat since I build with high gauge wire and I'm almost always under 20 watts, so you're on your own for the rest. :thumb:

I haven't found the TC to be great on the Presa100 using TC, in fact with the update it sucks even more with SS. YMMV
The preheat works fine however in wattage mode for me.
I have pre-heat set at 58 for 2 secs. and my wattage at 45.
Keep in mind the juice and coil will play a huge part.
The .25 Crown coil I'm using is old, I put it in August 28th. Cheers.

Hitmetwice, Your Welcome.

I have (2) Presa 100's and only updated (1) of them so I could have a chance to play with the new software, and see if it would work correctly. So far I like the new display better than the original one, it's bigger and easier for me to see.

I bought both of mine (a Black and a Silver) back when they first came out, I believe in March/April time frame, and have been using both every day since. They are holding up really well (except for the battery door on the Black one, the paint is flaking off, but the body paint looks like new so I am thinking of giving that battery door a coat of Black Krylon paint and call it Good). Mechanically, both are working like the day I bought them, just like they should work. I have been holding off on getting more 26650 mod's as I haven't seen any that are that much better than what I have in my Presa 100's already, with this new updated software I just might buy some more Presa's instead of anything else that's out there now. I mean, for the price and what you get, it's a hard one to pass up.

Thanks for that Hitme. So you set the preheat for higher than your wattage ?? Interesting, it's kind of a "Jump Start" then ?

WoW, That did make a difference with the preheat turned on in wattage mode. I thought it was only for TC mode, but guess not. I have my Fev4 setup with NiChrome 28g/3mm/1.35Ω/ 15 watts, then set my preheat up to 20 watts for 2 sec. and noticed an immediate improvement, Quicker ramp up, almost instantly (.8 sec according to the counter), and it starts popping before I can get it up to my mouth, so I might set it back to 1.5 sec. Sound right to you ??

If you're feeling a little more adventurous you can try a custom firmware that supports the Presas (and several other Joyetech/Wismec devices). I started using ClockSelect's myevic and it's simply amazing.

ClockSelect / myevic

This firmware adds too many features to mention, including the ability to change screen contrast, use different battery discharge curves, customize temperature control algorithms, select animated screen savers/clocks, monitor liquid use... and so on.

You can use Wismec's own update utility to try it out, and revert to their firmware if you don't like it. I know I'm not going back.

I sent Wismec Support a Request about their New "Just Released" Update. Maybe I didn't word it correctly, or the language barrier is coming into play. I noticed that Joyetech came out with (2) different Updates, 1 with a new interface and 1 with the old interface, but both had the added Preheat function and that's what I was aiming at in my request to Wismec ??

Here's the Request:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Message:I have been trying you're new "Latest Version:(TC Software 1.10) Firmware V4.03" and like the preheat very much, but DON'T like the new screen layout. Could you change back to the Original screen layout on the Presa 100 TC but add the preheat function to it ??
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's the Reply I got back from Wismec:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry every version has its own interface.

Where did I mess up ??

I did not know about any Custom Firmware for the Presa. Thanks lumberjack, I'll have a look-see.

I'm still experimenting with Preheat in Power Mode looks like. I have refined it to 25 watts at .2 sec. running at 15 watts on NiChrome 80, 1.35Ω, 3mm, Rayon wicking in a Fev4 with 5ml tank setup on my Presa 100 TC. I sometimes chain vape up to 5-10 times in a row (all MTL), so don't need much time in preheat as after my first draw the coil is warmed up already so any longer time in preheat is a waste of battery, but for the first draw the preheat knocks off about .5 sec. on the response time with the way I have it set up now (above). I am sure that this new preheat was aimed at TC to begin with, but wanted to experiment with NiChrome 80 in Power Mode to see what it might give me. It's fun to experiment anyways.

P.S. I seem to notice that with the preheat as I have it set, I am getting a more flavorful vape :thumb:. Could it be that with the extra 10 watt kick for 0.2 sec. it is bringing out some more flavor ?? This whole preheat function added to the Presa 100, even in Power mode, is something I am liking to play around with, and at my age even the little things "Trip my Trigger". ;)
