Hey so I bought a nitecore charger today the new i2 and I think it might be fake. I bought it from a local vape shop and I've used it once tonight and worked ok but I checked the validation code and it said it had already been validated. Could this have been done by the vape shop or is it a fake?. If unfortunately it is a fake does that mean it is unsafe to use. My biggest worry is my vape (smok alien) blowing up and if i use the fake will it cause this.

I'd bring it back to the vape shop and explain the situation. Maybe it's a unit returned from a prior sale and the validation already occurred. As to danger, it's to the battery, not the mod. Is hold on using it until you clarify it with the store that sold you an already validated item.

Yes but could the damaged battery cause it to damage the vape and blow up?

@Dan165 – As mentioned, authenticity codes are not always 100% reliable. However, there is usually something that identifies the unit is a fake. Compare yours’s to pictures on the net and look for small details such as the Nitecore branding around the power cord socket.
Oh wait holdup I received this email from nitecore does this mean it is real?

It's the fact that the charger might be fake

About the only way a charger can damage a cell is by overcharging voltage or charging at too high rate.

You did check battery voltage after charging, right?
Between 4.1v - 4.2v?
Do the cells get hot while charging?
Hot, not warm.

What cells are you using?

My Efest Luc 4 is finally wearing out. The spring in one of the chambers isn't functional. I'm tempted to try to repair it, but it's more than five years old. I have certainly gotten my money's worth from the thing. I'm eyeballing the Ntecore i8. I like the form and function. I currently use 18650's, 26650's, and AA's in my devices. So for about $35 (USD) plus shipping from imrbatteries.com I think I've made my decision. Can anyone argue me out of this before I throw my hard earned monies at my computer screen?

I have no comment on the i8, have you seen this review?

After some furious searching, I like the Nitecore SC4. The i8 charges AA NiMH to 1.48V and I need 1.2V for my NiMH AA's. So I step down to 4 bays but get the right cutoff Voltage and save $5. OK. Convince me I'm wrong before I spend my money.

Did you catch this review?

I don't think you answered your question quite correctly. The charger is indeed, real. It is not imaginary (in which case it would not be charging (or destroying) your batteries.

If you think it's authentic that is fine. But it needs to be both (real AND authentic) and if you are confident it is, great.
