I got some delrin drip tips in today with some new boge cartos and the drip tips have a terrible plastic taste. I tried washing them under hot water and then rinsing and I still get the plastic taste. I also tried using a dab of dish soap on them...no luck. These drip tips look and feel nice but make everything taste like plastic.

Any tips for getting rid of the plastic odor on these? :?:

Firstly, i see two probabilities here.

1. Drip tips have plastic taste. Soak them in any mouth wash for 1 hour and rinse or use a low taste alcohol like say vodka.
2. Boge carto have plastic taste. Since u mentioned its new, it might well be the cartos themselves. Some primer might have gotten stuck inside which usually isn't a problem. Grab some paper napkins and cover the connector end of the carto, Blow hard thru the dripping end untill nothing comes out, drip a few drops of juice and let it settle, connect to ur batt and prime vape by short drawing and exhale the vapor without inhaling a few times say.. 5-6times then fill ur cartos again to the "max" (not overflooding) and vape.

Let us know the result~

I have never gotten any plastic taste from delrin or plastic drip tips on cartomizers - I am using ones from LiteCigUSA.net (plain clear colored and black delrin), Gotvapes (marble vase - may be acrylic). Are you using them on a hot atomizer or worse a hot atomizer with a tall bridge?

If there is any mold release on them I would think dishwashing liquid and a Qtip for the middle would work. You could also try clear edible alcohol (grain or vodka).

Are you positive it's not atomizer primer? New atomizers have machine-oil taste/smell primer on them.

umm...boge cartos have primer? I thought it was just the low resistance that was making Boba's Bounty taste different. :?:

Ok...I have two shot glasses filled with baking soda slurry and will let them soak for an hour or so.

In the meantime I am going to open another one of the boge cartos and see if there is a primer smell. I knew this about the attys, blow out the new ones and re-prime them with juice before I use them but this news to me about the cartos having a primer.

actually most of the attys have primer to prevent them from accidently drying out from new user first time firing. primer themselves has no taste but when the primer comes into contact with whatever juice and gets heated up, the pungent taste come out as a reaction.

(by attys, i meant atomizer and cartomizer since they're built into one)

And of cuz, ur juice might taste a lil different from switching the resistance of the atty/carto basically lets take 3.7v for example (a standard eGo batt voltage reading) a hr atty on it = lower cooler n not much taste vapor. a lr atty on it = more, warmer n stronger taste vapor. (base on the assumption that frying the atty n atty not working is out of the equation)

Unless ur juice has plastic taste when heated up at slightly higher temperature o.0

hope this helps.

It appears that the baking soda worked! The nasty plastic taste/odor on the drip tips is gone. I left them soaking in the baking soda for a couple hours and they seem very clean with no aftertaste.

I also tried blowing out one of the new cartos before I filled it. I did not notice any primer come out of the carto. I definitely got some off of the new attys when I got my eGo kit but nothing from this carto? Hmm?

I picked up my eGo today and the plastic taste on the drip tips is back. The baking soda seemed to work but may taste/smell may have been masked by the beer I was drinking last night? :toast:

I am going to try the vinegar dip and then the lemon juice idea if the vinegar doesn't work. These tips are brand new so I am guessing this taste will wear off eventually?
