Hello,
My first post here,
Been following the discussions for a long while but havn't posted -(there is so much great info here! )
Perhaps someone can help-
I have a relative who is keen to try eCgs as she really needs to give cigs up - have no problem getting her started and have lots of juice spare, nic, ect- but she is allergic to Peanuts and Shellfish , so when i remembered this i looked at all my surplus juices and wondered about the ingredients and how safe it was to inhale these for someone with these allergies--they are from various vendors
Would it be better for her to just stick with PG/VG and Nic just in case,? or is there any other juice ingredient she would be safe using?
There is a peanutty taste at times with many Juices- but I dont know if thats actually from peanuts!
anyhow, bit nervous about what flavours she may be able to safely vape---
Thanks for any thoughts,

Common sense applies here. Peanut and shellfish allergies are relatively rare. If the person in question has peanut or shellfish allergy that person should contact the e-liquid supplier personally before purchasing or using a product. Don't put yourself into the supply route, or you may be liable for an unfortunate result.

Nut and shellfish allergies aren't that rare. There has actually been such a rise in nut allergens that many schools (including ones my children have gone to) have strict policies about bringing nut products into the schools. Many school nurse stations have walls filled with epi pens. But I'm just echoing everyone else, they should contact whomever they would like to buy from----if the company can't answer then don't buy. I'd actually assume that if they have a true nut allergy, this would already be there first thoughts :)

I can't nor would I disagree with the ability to detect allergens being more prevelant than in the past. School nurses have the ability to use the epi pens in cases of severe allergic reactions (with doctor orders) Most MDs don't do the allergy testing, often referring to the specialists.
Regardless, if there is a product question, one should go to the company. :)
Happy new year's!! =)

Thanks for your thoughts everyone.
Actually it's my Cousin, and to get her started off I was thinking to hand over some of my
old juices that I bought before I started DIY.. Then I remembered about her allergy, rethinking how to proceed now, perhaps just mint flavouring nic and base.to be safe. I think Dormouse had a good idea to go to the flavourers website and see if I can suss out some information on flavourings,

Happy New year to all too.

Hi Turnip and welcome to ECF. Yes as earlier noted nut allergies are on the rise, I myself am allergic to nuts and stay away from all nut related juices. That's another reason I DIY all my juices. I would strongly advise your cousin have an EpiPen on hand just in case. I also found I was allergic to Ethyl Maltol aka Cotton Candy a sweetener that's found in some juices. As dormouse suggested best to contact the vendor, explain the issue and take it from there and I would lean towards ordering my juices from U.S. vendors and, in particular, ECF listed vendors. Be aware also some have found they are slightly reactive to PG. The good news for us is that they are testing a peanut patch that slowly releases peanut into the system thereby allowing our bodies to buildup an immunity to it.
Good Luck, Vapoor.
P.S. just my own personal opinion but it's a far greater risk, for myself, to continue smoking rather than take the risk of a allergic reaction to juice.

Don't let her try ANY of your juices unless you can absolutely confirm with the manufacturer there is not even a TRACE of peanut in the juice. Of course you have to be absolutely sure you haven't cross contaminated the juice either. Peanut allergies are extremely serious. My sister has a peanut allergy, and just smelling peanuts can literally kill her if she doesn't get treated right away. (Of course she carries an epi-kit and wears a allergy bracelet.) It's not something you would ever want to take a chance on. I intend to introduce my sister to ecigs as well, but I will have to get an absolute guarantee from the juice sellers before I will recommend any to her. I can't believe none of the vendors put allergy information on their packaging like the food industry has to.
