I used to have one of these Pontiac Sunbird's...I think it was 1980...but it might have been the 81 model...I am not sure...I got it in the late 80's early 90's...
it was the only Non-Chevy I owned...

I used to have one of these Pontiac Sunbird's...I think it was 1980...but it might have been the 81 model...I am not sure...I got it in the late 80's early 90's...
it was the only Non-Chevy I owned...
It was still a GM car, so it doesn't count as a non Chevy

My wife's first car--and the one she was driving when we met--was a 1984 Ford Thunderbird. The one pictured here is in much better condition than hers was.

It's kind of funny. I had a lot of different cars when I was younger, but I have been driving the same truck for over 20 years. I have a 1991 Suburban with 550,000 miles that's still going strong. My kids are worried they will inherit it!

The 1st time I was stationed in NC I bought Chevy van. Was kind of beat up, had a bed in back and was running a 327. Threw a rod not long after I bought it - had a 400 small block put in. Blew a seal and burned up that motor - speedo was wrapped and guesstimated speed at the time was over 140. Had it rebuilt - with a few high performance parts. Was fun to see the looks on the faces of those guys in their Camaros, vettes and stangs when they got beat by a van.

I remember being jealous of the neighbor who had one of these when I was a kid. Not sure why now, but man did I like these back then!

On one of the episodes of American Pickers they found one in a barn. It seems they VW van is a pretty rare find today.

The first car I test drove was a ford LTD and it ran out of gas & seized the carburetor....needless to say I didn't buy it....but it was almost my first car...

That is correct....Anything but a ford....It was still a GM car, so it doesn't count as a non Chevy

When my wife's (then girlfriend's) T-Bird died, I helped her buy a new car. She wanted something cheap and economical. A used Geo Metro fit the bill.

I had a Camaro Z28 in the early 80's that looked something like the car below. I don't think anyone cared about gas mileage back in those days. That stupid car was always breaking down and needing a repair.
