I boil my cotton, for two reasons. I like the increased density after I boil then squeeze to remove water(helps when twisting up your own cotton rope for wicks)and I read a link to an article that talked about how many pesticides are used to grow things like cotton. The FDA bans pesticides at a rate that is easily outstripped by insects ability to adapt to them/industries need to create new ones. And "organic" farms can be next door and downwind from any nonorganic enterprise. Just sayin.

Those that boil their cotton, do you use distilled water or tap water? If you use tap water, have you had it tested lately for chlorine, fluoride, peroxides, or any other added chemicals or trace mercury or lead? If not, you may be adding more crap to your vape by boiling with tap water than just using the cotton straight out of the bag. Hell, in some places the tap water is flammable due to contamination!
The water where I live has a chlorine taste, when boiled gives off a chlorine and peroxide smell, and likely has fluoride added. I can't even stand to drink it. No way in hell I'm boiling my cotton in it!
The water I use for drinking and cooking is reverse osmosis purified, or distilled water. My cotton is Kroger brand, sterile cotton balls. I let the juice soak the cotton for at least 2-3 min before I vape. No flavor problems.
