I keep reading conflicting views. Some people say organic is better. Some say with organic, you have to boil it first or it tastes bad. Others say boil ALL cotton first no matter what. Then there are those who say just buy the cheapest you can find because they are all the same. I'm confused!

Is there any danger to using CVS sterile cotton? Is there anything to the claim that organic is best? Do you really have to boil it?

Help!

 :?:

The cotton does work great I use cotton balls wright from the bag no bad taste very clean no boil needed. I read that organic is better because it is grown with no chemicals makes sense got some. The organic does need to be boiled took some out and smelled it, nasty! Boiling it does get rid of the smell. I did read a article about the the cotton how it's grown and the chemicals used could be bad for you is this true maybe that's why I tried the organic grown with no chemicals.

This may not be what you're looking for... but I've been using my wife's Japanese "Koh Gen Do" brand cotton make-up pads for a few weeks now in RDAs, and even cut some thin strips and tried them in the wife's Kanger bottom coil clearos. They are 100% organic and the packaging says they "have not been chemically treated, bleached, or pigmented" and are "medical grade".

I don't boil them, they don't seem to have a "taste" and are relatively cheap considering you get 60 2X3 in pads for $12.

Hi, I just boil the cheap, white cotton balls that my wife buys to clean our dog's ears and use that. Haven't had any taste issues, I figure that if all the saccharine that I've consumed in my life hasn't killed me yet.... Seriously, I get no taste from it, so I am pretty sure that it's fine. Good luck and have fun!

It's not that I'm concerned about flavor... I've been using CVS sterile rolled cotton, and while I do taste the cotton a tiny bit, it's absolutely fine flavor wise. My concern is chemicals in my lungs.

By the way, if anyone is looking into ordering the Koh Gen Do cotton pads (pesticide and chemical fertilizer free cotton - not bleached - no need to boil), Dermstore.com has them for $12 with free shipping. If you use coupon code BZDISCOUNT, it brings the order down to $10.80.

Not a clue about actually ordering them... as I swipe them from my wife, who I think gets them from a local salon. A few go a long way for wicks. "Good on ya' that you found a seller with free ship. Hope the work out for your needs. If not... they are make-up pads after all. ;-)

Just so you guys know, not just related to ecigs, ORGANIC is NOT necessarily safer or better. Remember that DDT is organic, and its the only organic pesticide they tend to use on organic crops, and it is extremely unsafe. "Organic" stuff is a sham imo, just get some plain old cotton balls from CVS, no need to boil, and youll be just fine

Here is one article

http://www.hcn.org/blogs/goat/would-you-like-some-ddt-with-that-organic-cucumber

Now there is conflicting info all over out there, im just saying, its not proven or necessarily safer either way ;)

I've been using some generic 100% cotton cotton balls for a few weeks and have yet to notice a "weird flavor" I haven't boiled any of them. I think you just need to look out for cotton that has been chemically treated and avoid it, as long as it's 100% cotton and isn't full of chemicals you should be fine.

Sterile 100% cotton balls.

The cheapest ones you can find are just fine.

If you want to boil them, feel free.

Don't worry about what kind of chemical pesticides or fertilizers were used to grow the cotton. Any foolishness spread about the potential dangers of using conventionally grown cotton is a bunch of FUD and is meant only to separate you from your money.

Cotton washed in bleach is not something I'd want to vape. I boil all cotton regardless but when you fire up that coil any little bit of chemicals left behind can be heated up and vaporized.

Call me crazy but I don't want to vape that. Organic cotton is washed with hydrogen peroxide, I still recommend boiling all cotton but to me this gives me much more piece of mind maybe it's in my head but the piece of mind is worth it to me.

I'll call you sane. The possibility of inhaling any chlorine product is crazy. Organic cotton all the way. You use so little a $5 bag on amazon will last forever, I can't see any reason to not use organic cotton that's whitened with peroxide.
