I totally agree about getting them even if there is a ban. I personally have family in Pa and considering how cheap everything is (I smoked Marlboro Lights+ New York=OUTRAGEOUS!!) I will just buy bulk and have it shipped there then take a trip!!:p I literally am saving roughly $170 a month going this route and will not be easily deterred!

I live in NJ. I think it's a toss up as to which state is more corrupt or incompetent. E-Cigs here have already been added to the indoor smoking ban. One of our Senators in the US Congress is beating the drum to have them banned nationwide.
I fear it is coming.
I'm doing what I can, but at the same time, I am also starting to stockpile-doubling up on every order when I can afford it. I'm trying to keep a running 2 year supply of Attys and Juice, just in case.

Hi guys,

I just saw this thread, sorry for the late entry. I just wanted to let you guys know that the NY State ban is kind of dead for now. It was sent to the Health Comm. and was not acted on before the session ended. It's possible that it will have to be completely reintroduced next year if they still want to go after it.

The current problems are indoor bans in Albany County NY, the town of Lowell ID, the town of Northhampton MA, the city of Savannah GA (and perhaps that whole county). There also a potential full ban in Seattle and King County WA.

Wander on down to the News and Campaign sections to learn more.

You know, I did those extra recreations for a long time. Been over ten years now and have never looked back. But I have browsed the section for using the ecig in public and can understand why some cops easily make the mistake and pulling people over etc...If you have exp. with the evils of the other side hehe you can easily see that they can be used for certain things not intended with little or no mod. So yea that could play a big part in how the government etc look at them. It shouldnt effect the majority of the responsible but it is a big flag that they may look at...Right or wrong I dont see a way around that. Thats just my :2c:..

what about people modifying PV for ......... use? that kind of scares me because i think it would put the government on a fast track to either ban them, or heavily regulate/tax their use (but then again... look at the deadhead smoke shops.....) any thoughts?
I thought about that also. In addition to that I can see them starting to argue that because the devices are being modified that the safety is even more of an unknown because they aren't being used as designed. If they really want to get a ban through I think they will hit every angle they can.

I live in NY and will be writing a letter to my senator. Even if there are thousands of letters written unfortunately I'm not sure it will matter. Attempting to ban PVs while allowing the sale of cigarettes makes zero sense to me. As a life long NYer I'm aware that many decisions that have been made have made zero sense so that won't stop them.

I'm extremely upset that this could potentially happen. I've only been off cigarettes for 2.5 weeks. Finally, I felt I found something that would work for me and now a ban is possible. :(

I'm not in the U.S. but if I had anything to say about this bill, I would say that decision the assembly has taken was biased in favor for the cigarette manufacturers. Such action is making people pay more tax on cigarettes because smokers are still addicted to nicotine, not because smokers are stubborn and want to continue smoking. The thing I really hated when I was a smoker is that some people think that quitting smoking is something easy and is in the hands of every single smoker.
NY assembly seems to like the fact that their people are getting sick due to smoking cigarettes (not mentioning more taxes, higher insurance costs, and more money pumping into the health sector).

I have also thought about the fact that these could be used for illegal drug use but... if you have matches or a lighter you can still use the illegal drugs without a PV. People are gonna do what they are gonna do.

Thank you for the post I moved to N.Y. about 2 years ago and it amazes me how much this state gets away with completely stripping us of our rights as stated in our constitution. On another note I did get pulled over for my ecig getting mistaken for something else and after a ten minute explanation of what it was and how it worked I think he is now online buying one for himself.

Excellent story! Instead of the cop ruining your day, you may have saved his life. :toast:
