So I've had this vape for about 2 weeks and today I switched out my coil. Once I got the new coil in, my mod is telling me Atomizer short. So I tried to put my old coil back in and I got the same message. I tried cleaning the tank, I made sure the 510 pin was not protruding too far and I also made sure that there was no metal dust in my mods connection. My tank is the Smok tfv12 prince tank and my mod is the IKuun I200, my problems started when I switched to the x6 coil. Does anyone know whats wrong with my vape?

Maybe your pin is NOT protruding enough.... if the pin is flush or below 510 threads that can result in short and atomizer low reading. Should protrude at least 1mm. More is better than less.

I was thinking the same but I checked and it is protruding at least 1mm.

If you're screwing the coil into the chimney, try screwing it into the base instead and then screwing the whole assembly into the chimney. The contact on the bottom of the coil might not be touching the contact in the base of the atomizer if you're doing it the other way.
I normally screw my coil into the base first.

Did you check the pin in the top of the base? Not in the 510 connector, but where the coil touches it to get power. I'm wondering if it got pushed down and is causing the positive bar on the bottom of the coil to touch the negative base of the atomizer when you screw the coil in. See if you can raise that little brass post up any.

Try putting the empty base on the mod. If it still says short then the issue is going to be in the 510 or the insulator. If it says no atomizer then try adding the coil to the base (but nothing else). Now if it says short the issue is in the coil or how it is connecting to the base. If it reads the resistance properly, then add the top and see what it says.

Sometimes tightening things down TOO tightly can cause problems. If you try the methods outlined by ScottP and discover the problem area, try loosening things up a little to see if the problem corrects itself. I have one mod (the Hohmwrecker G2) that will short with most of my tanks/attys if I don't put a 1mm spacer between the tank and the mod. Also a Billet Box that will cause the coils to short if I get things together too tightly.

I had a similar struggle with some of the joytech clr tanks, and have realized that "too hard" is in many ways worse than "too loose."

If you find yourself in hand to hand combat with your tank, screwdrivers frantically in hand, put it down for awhile and come back to it with fresh eyes. Often, too tight is going to ruin your tank if it's a tank that doesn't take kindly to extreme degrees of force, etc.

Also, sometimes worth trying on another mod, if you can, to at least see if you can get it reading. Different tanks have different tolerances for the 510 connections, and if you can get it reading somewhere... That's progress... and you may eventually be able to move to the mod of your choice and etc.

Best of luck,

Anna

Tghtening it was the problem, thank you. I feel really stupid now :/ my friends told me that I needed to tighten it however, that was the problem.
