I am using/trying (first ecig) a KGO from Hoosier using a clearomizer. Since my analog choice is (hopefully soon WAS, not is) Swisher Sweets little cigars. So they are pretty harsh compared to most cigarettes. Because of that I got some 24mg juice thinking I would need the higher nicotine. My problem is that it makes me cough a lot. I never really analyzed the way I smoke until now, and I believe now that perhaps the 24mg is too strong for me.

I nearly always have a Swisher burning, and when I draw on it I only inhale MAYBE half of that. So clouds of smoke is one thing I need, and the other is something to play with, you know, always in my hand kind of smoker. But I can't draw enough to get clouds of smoke from the KGO because it makes me cough. Trying to treat it as my analogs isn't working because I can't even inhale half of the draw, not even 25%. Geez, I can barely see the vapor when I get a small enough draw to inhale.

I am thinking I should get some zero nicotine to mix with, and hoping that will make enough of a difference. But since I was SURE I knew what I was doing when I got the 24mg, then feeling sure now doesn't give me a warm fuzzy, you know? Am I on the right track thinking the mg level explains the coughing? Perhaps the brand? I have Dekang Red USA mix. The flavor is not a likely culprit, am I wrong about that?

Is the 2.1-2.4 ohm too high since I desire a lot of vapor? My instinct says no because that may not matter once I get something I can take in since I would be able to draw longer.

Are you taking in vapor as you would a real cig? With an e-cig, you take light draws, not inhale like a cig. That may be what's making you cough. Try a light 4 or 5 second draw, hold the vapor in your mouth for a few seconds, then inhale, then exhale. It won't be as harsh.

The ohms sound decent for a KGO. You're just not getting enough vapor because you aren't taking much in, you are coughing most of it out. The high nic level could be making you cough as well, may be a tad to harsh for you. I wouldn't go from 24 to 0, though, that may be too big of a drop. Maybe drop down to at least 16 or 18.

The challenge with e-cigs is that there is several things going on at once and all of them effect harshness. So it's hard to say. Experienced vapers know their juice and rig and know what is good and what is "wrong". For a newbie, it's hard to tell. Possibilities:

1) Harsh hits come from poor atomization. That can be
...A) Gunked up coil on atty/carto
...B) wrong ohms for battery voltage
...C) Poor/dirty connectoions
2) Harsh hits can also come from the nic and juice
...A) Nic too high
...B) Funky juice flavor
...C) PG is harsher than VG (although shouldn't be that harsh, even vaping pure PG)
3) Too high of voltage for atty/Carto. Will be hot too.
4) Personal opinion on what constitutes TH vs Harsh.

2.1-2.4 ohms should be OK on a 3.7 v device. Add VG for vapor volume and reducing TH. Also nic IS the major factor in TH. Lastly, juice flavors and quality vary a lot too.

Good Luck!
