I am actually making an effort not to increase my nicotine dependency. I use smaller PVs that satisfy me and I am not looking for the biggest hit or head buzz or anything like that. I don't let myself vape all the time. I didn't smoke all the time. I actually want to lower my nicotine dependency so I am planning to step down my nicotine (which will also let me vape more without worrying about too much nicotine, because I really enjoy vaping).

Some people seem to arrive here with opposite goals - a more hotrod mindset of wanting the biggest hit, the most vapor, and the highest nicotine they can get.

You are right about yummy flavors - I over-nicced myself one time on a Peach ejuice I couldn't put down. It also had little TH so I never felt done. So I have to avoid vaping flavors like that alone if they have nicotine in them.

But basically people have to be responsible. People abuse nicotine patches too, like wearing them and smoking at the same time.

Well said. It comes down to moderation in my opinion. I don't vape all day anymore even though I truly love certain flavors. I learn to control myself and I feel great :)

I was addicyed to cigarettes, and I am addicted to my pv. With that said, anytime I get THAT feeling of too much nicotine, I put my stick down. I do like to vape pretty constantly, but nicotine poison occurs long after you get that "I've vaped too much" feeling. I do think if there is a bottle of nicotine around, poisoning is possible, but I am not going to drink it, and I am not going to vape until I pass out.

And of course if you have a medical condition or are pregnant or nursing, your doctor should be consulted. Duh!

I have some 8mg of nictoine..I know that is considered low..but after reading about even my full flavored analogs (Pall Mall Reds), have about 1.7 mg of nicotine in EACH cig...which means it takes a WHOLE pack to get about 30mg a DAY (no wonder ppl buy so many packs, or smokes so many--possibly WHY tobacco companies make SO MUCH--by putting only a tiny bit of nicotine in their cigs to make us buy more and more)--which is fine..however, will 4mg of nictotine be ok for me to chain vape? I do know (or read), that 20 drops is about 1ml of nicotine from the actual bottles...so if this is so...I found one of my wonderful vapers (Inferno from Volcano ecigs.com), lasts for about 3 hours with using just 3-4 drops..

Sooooooooooo..(sorry I am a newbie to ecigs..lol)....does this mean that vaping on 4 drops of 4mg nicotine every 5 hours is ok for me?
The bottom line is that you can not do the calculations this way.
In fact, doing those calculations may very well have set you up for that possible panic attack.

We only absorb a fraction of the nicotine from vaping as compared to smoking.

Some studies have shown we may be absorbing as little as 10% of the nicotine from vaping.
And some here find flaws in those studies and think they may be getting as much as 40% of the nicotine from vaping.

So, for example...

If using 3ml per day of 24mg strength liquid, you would get anywhere from 7.2mg to 28.8mg of nicotine.
And that would equal about 7 to 28 cigarettes, depending on what cigarettes we are talking about, and how much we really absorb.

And I believe a milliliter is probably at least 30 drops if not more, but it depends on the size of your drops.
And the size of your drops depends on the size of your bottle, the thickness of your juice, and other factors.

The bottom line is that 4 drops of 4mg nicotine strength wouldn't keep hardly anyone here happy for more than 30 minutes.

For example, I am a very light vaper, going through maybe 1ml per day of 12mg strength.
And I only used to smoke around 3-10 cigarettes per day.

I smoke Pall Mall (red/shorts) for almost 10 years..about a half-to 1 pack a day (never went over a pack in a long time)..and if I did (when I used to work at a nightclub for 11 years--I STILL never got any side effects from "nicotine poisening")..

However, I just started vaping...and got the 510 ecig (from Vapor4life--wonderful cigs)..and thought 11mg would be just fine enough to "chain vape/smoke"...and then about 30 min later (after chain vaping for an hour on 11mg--never finished the cart)..my heart started racing...:( I DID tho--have 2 cups of coffee that morning and 4 analogs before that)..although never got sick or felt sick..that freaked me out...now I'm scared to vape...although I do have some good 0 nicotine)...I am constantly depressed for the past week about wanting to "chain vape" (I stay at home and work online)..and is too darn scared that I will get nic poisening if I do that!!

Again, didn't have any other side effects (not even a headache) after that chain vape..(although my hubby said most likely my heart just raced a bit..but then gave me a panick attack)..but I don't think so..maybe a bit of both (and I never get pannick attacks--the last time I did was when I was taking some diet pills a long time ago--will never do THAT again)...:(

I found myself vaping 0 nicotine..but still reach for the analogs (and really don't WANT to :(...but I want to be able to smoke the way I did before---which (I know, bad)...I chained smoked in the mornings...for a few hours while working online ...but now I'm so scared I won't be able to do that..even tho I have some 8mg of nictoine..I know that is considered low..but after reading about even my full flavored analogs (Pall Mall Reds), have about 1.7 mg of nicotine in EACH cig...which means it takes a WHOLE pack to get about 30mg a DAY (no wonder ppl buy so many packs, or smokes so many--possibly WHY tobacco companies make SO MUCH--by putting only a tiny bit of nicotine in their cigs to make us buy more and more)--which is fine..however, will 4mg of nictotine be ok for me to chain vape? I know you all say it depends on the person, health, and the amount of types of cigs they smoked before vaping (I'm 31, in great shape--I work out about 5-6 times a week and do weight training), and I eat VERY clean too. I'm am a health nut and have no health issues (except yes, smoking cigs for the last 9 years)...

Psychicsmokin I had a similar issue when I started vaping. One evening I was vaping and mixing up some juices-- along with smoking analogs at the time as well. All of sudden my heart was racing and it felt like it was trying to punch through my chest wall. I felt slightly "disconnected" and actually was IN the car ready to have my wife drive me to the ER. I finally calmed myself down and went back in the house and the feeling subsided after about half an hour.

I think it was a nicotine OD and once my heart started racing that brought on the panic attack ("Oh no, am I having a heart attack" is what was going through my head at the time) as I had NEVER experienced a feeling like that before in my life.

I would just take it slow and use the lower nicotine levels when "chain-vaping". I was smoking 1.5-2pks per day of Camel Lights which have .9 mg nicotine per cigarette (so 27 mg a day would be my average intake I guess on analogs). I normally vape liquid which is 12mg-16mg, if I feel the need to chain vape I may bump that level down to avoid the nic OD/ Panic attack.

I understand how you feel, and after that episode it put me off of vaping due to fear for around 10 months.

I just got back on it again 2 weeks ago and have cut my analog consumption by 2/3rds!!!

I decided to go LOW on the nicotine and watch for when / if I start to feel "weird" then I put the PV down for awhile....

I hope this helps you out and if you do a search you will find others on here who have had similar issues from too much nicotine.

Thank you OP. I'm a noob and ive only bought High Strength nicotine and i didn't even smoke that many cigs before this. I'm pretty sure i got nicotine poisoning last night. I still have all these high strength juices and looking for a plausible way to dilute them.

Right now i still have heartburn and haven't vaped all day. Im sure it was from the vaping i did yesterday. Just feel pukey and dumb.

Thanks for your awesome post. Makes me almost want to give it all up for good.

Waaaay back in the mid 70's I went to The Schick Center For The Control Of Smoking in (where else) Los Angeles and bought some "aversion therapy". Basically, you give them a bucket of money and they sit you in a small, unventilated room-ette and watch you chain-smoke through a class partition until you puke. Nausea is one of the first signs of nicotine over-dose, and although it won't cause any serious damage, it is a very effective way for Mother Nature to remind you to slow down.

In case anybody is curious, the longest I went without a cigarette was less than 2 days. I did, however, find it quite easy to permanently abstain from the Schick Center.

PS I just now googled to see if they are still around (found nothing current) and was reminded of the other component: mild electric shocks to the wrist! I guess I was too urpy to pay much attention to the 9-volt part of the "therapy".

LOL. Now they are called Schick Shadel and they do drug and alcohol rehab. It's still aversion therapy. I almost tried it a few years ago.
