Hi all, i'm new to this forum. Little about myself: Used to smoke a pack a day for 15+ years, quit smoking cigarettes on the spot after one puff of vape from Relx (similar system to Juuls). Been using Relx for quite a few months now, however their closed system pods are not really considered cheap, compared to other open systems, which is why i'm trying to look for an alternative to feed my cravings for nic.

Relx:
- pods (2ml) contain 3% salt nic
- Fixed 6w output
- 1.0-1.2 ohm coil (i think?)

I recently bought a smok Nord and of course some e-juice. I'm currently using the 1.4 ohm MTL coil, blueberryish flavored e-juice with 25mg nic salt PG40%/VG60%. I feel that i'm not getting the throat hit and satisfaction that I get from Relx.

Any suggestions on what nic level I might be looking for that is equivalent to 3% salt nic? Preferably something that works on my Nord. I mostly do MTL, guess I'm just more used to it. Salt or freebase doesn't matter. Any suggestions, tips, numbers would be appreciated. Thanks!

Nicky

Hi Nicky and welcome the ECF.

I agree, The RELX is a pretty great disposable.
The 3% nicotine can also be expressed as 30mg/ml. (Your 25mg/ml juice is also 2.5%).

IMO the Nord may be a bit warmer of a vape at 10watts using the 1.4Ω coil compared to the RELX.
I have not tried the SMOK unit, but it should perform well with just a bit more nicotine.
Match the 30mg/ml with salt nic or if you like, mix salt and freebase juice together to get the best of both. Most pods will work well with up to 65-70% VG. I tend to stay in the 50/50 (+/- 5%) range when mixing for pods.

The Nord is designed for 70/30. The lack of throat hit may be due to different nic salt. Depending on which acid is used to neutralize the freebase nic, it can change where the perceived harshness is felt. It could also be something added to that juice to make it smoothe. Trying different brands may help.

Hi and welcome. I'm new here too. We have a very similar story. I went from MyBlu pods to the Smok Nord. Right now I'm vaping Mr. Salt E Tobacco flavor @ 25mg. I think it's ok but I could try ramping it up to a 30mg. The thing I have discovered about the Nord is that when my battery goes below full charge the hit, as well as the flavor seem to get less and less. When I charge it back up to full power it comes back. This is ok for me because I drive a car all day for a living so I can charge my device whenever I want. Also, I don't think the coils last for more than a day or so. I am very careful not to allow my pod to go below half full; toasted the wick once and omg that was awful. I just don't see how a microscopic wick is going to handle my vaping style which is a little more than moderate, while not chain vaping. I really like the Nord because if it's small profile and ease of use but I think it's going to become my backup device as I progress to a more robust system like a 100W box mod and an rta w/big coils that I can wick myself. The Nord is doing it for me right now, but just barley enough to keep me off the smokes. I smoked for almost 50 years. Smoke free since 3/13/19. Good luck!

Welcome to the ecf community.
If it's th you are missing I would suggest trying 18-24mg freebase. If you add your location to your profile we could make suggestions where you can find ejuice.

Agreed if you want throat hit, you can add some freebase. If the nic strength you want is too high for the throat hit you can handle with freebase, you can use whatever mg of freebase you can handle and add nic salt to the rest.

Sorry, I know it gets more complicated. But, there is throat hit and then there is BURNING THROAT HIT OF FIRE.

You may have to do a combo to get what you would like.

Congrats on quitting!!!!
