I am still really new to vaping I have an IPV5 plus a aspire clieto and a kangertech subtank mini but i am looking for something that is great for direct to lung vaping the kangertech is good the clieto is a little harsh because it needs to run higher wattage and that makes the hit a little too hard i like the fact that the clieto is a top fill where the kangertech is not i also have a Smok TFV4 but it is not even close to a low watt tank any ideas on a sub ohm tank that can run low wattage but has good direct to lung vaping?

I've checked many tanks (and mods) and went with the Eleaf TC60W with the Melo 2 tank...

I run at about 45 W, using temp. control on Ni200 (adjusting temp. according to juice)and it's been a very smooth vape experience... so much so that I've yet to see anyone try it and not like it.

It uses vertical coils, so the airflow is great, and I absolutely love the top fill... I'd never buy a tank without it.

Plus the coils are really nice to rebuild.

i am not ready to start rebuilding coils yet just started vaping a few weeks ago really want to find a tank that has coils over the counter at this point still just getting my footing as far as vaping goes but it has allowed me to quit smoking cigarettes which is why i started vaping in the first place

The thing about the Melo 2 is that it takes the Eleaf, Aspire, Vaperasso, and a bunch of other compatible coils... it's a case that many companies went with a common design for the coils, which makes it great to have such a selection.

I mention rebuilding, as I started not really that long ago to do just so, and it's been actually fairly easy to do, and a lot cheaper. If anything I've been finding that my rebuilds (using the Vaperasso shells as they are really nice coils) have been working even better than the originals. It would be something that you could save the used coils for now and if you go that direction, you'd have some.

Have you tried the higher resistance coil with the SubTank? I know you wee asking about subohm, but... If you like the kanger, but want a different hit at a lower wattage it might be worth a try. If you do like it, but want top fill, kanger naked one now.

As a second, you could try the RBA base on the SubTank. Even if you aren't ready to rely in rebuilding (smart move in the the transition stage so you don't leave home with a crappy build), you could try a few different builds to experiment with as you try to find your sweet spot.
Oh, and by the way...
Congrats on kicking.

Like Netop said you can get higher OHM coils for the Subtank as well as the TFV4
You didn't say what wattage you are using, but you can run a .5 ohm as low as 25 watts and get a decent vape on it. The key is airflow, the TFV4 has great airflow and the subtank is decent enough but not great. I posted some coil options for the TFV4

Low Wattage & Clapton Series:

TFV4 TF-T2 Standard Core: Higher resistance dual coil head that will allow the user to use a lower wattage for power efficiency as a cooler vapor. Available in 1.5Ω

TFV4 TF-T2 Air Core: Higher resistance dual coil hed that will allow the user to use a lower wattage for power efficiency as a cooler vaper with two extra airflow holes for an airer draw. Available in 1.5Ω

TFV4 Clapton Coil (TF-CLP2): Patented Clapton dual coil head for the large surface area to provide "in your face" flavor. Available in 0.35Ω

I guess my local vape store doesn't have these other coils for the TFV4 i am running the kangertech at 17.5 and the clieto at 27.5 but the hit from the clieto is too harsh at times not sure why it hits harsh sometimes and not others i was thinking about getting a second Kangertech and now that i know they make a top fill i am pretty sure that is the direction i will go unless someone has a better idea oh and the coil in the kangertech is the .5 ohm occ good for 15 to 60 watts according to kangertech and my TFV4 floods because i can't take the higher wattage hits so the juice just runs out the vents like there is no coil in the thing at all

A lot of things other than watts can affect the harshness of your vape. You could have too high mg nicotine in your juice or too strong or dry of a flavor or too much pg, or you are not ready for direct lung hits and should try just mouth to lung which is more like smoking a cigarette.

Leaking issues could be a loose coil or faulty seal or o rings or high pg juice. Tanks operate best with at least a 70/30 VG/PG, and subohming, your nic should be around 3 mg.

Most B&Ms will only carry the most popular coils for the TFV4, like the triple and the quad, other coils will have to be purchased online.

From what you are saying, you want to subohm but are unable to because it's too harsh, so you need lower watts. You don't have to do direct lung hits to vape, most people are perfectly fine with a tank that is good for mouth to lung. You can always work up to direct lung hits once you have been off cigarettes for a while and you get more used to vaping.
After all everyone has to learn to walk before they can run

I started with the joytech variable voltage pen battery and your standard 1ml clearomizer. Now I'm currently using the Pioneer4You IPV Mini with the Aspire Nautilus Tank. Maybe try the HeavyTaste ModTank-60 for a sub ohm tank. It was highly recommended and my opinion of it is great.
