NY bill (S 6562) would ban burning e-cigs that contain tobacco in all workplaces in NY, referred to Health Cmte
Bills

This bill was introduced by Sen. Kemp Hannon, who is the Republican Chair of the NY Senate Health Cmte, where the bill was referred. We need to urge all other Health Cmte members to reject Hannon's bill (and point out that his bill absurdly bans the burning of e-cigs that contain tobacco). Since no e-cigs contain tobacco, and since no e-cigs are burned, his bill is nonsensical, but it poses a threat to vapers throughout NY.

I strongly suspect the NY ACS/AHA/ALA folks will endorse Hannon's bill (and/or urge him to amend it to call e-cigs "electronic smoking devices", and they'll urge the other members of the Health Cmte to approve it.

Please note that two years ago after Linda Rosenthal's bill to ban e-cig sales to minors had passed the Assembly and was about to be approved by the NY Senate, Kemp Hannon introduced a bill to ban the sale of e-cigs to all adults. A week after Hannon introduced his (I hate e-cigs even more than the liberal Dems) bill, the NY Senate approved Rosenthal's bill to ban e-cig sales to minors.

NY legislation works like this ... "I'll give you that if you give me this". Its not about the bill, it's about the deal. Bad bills get buried in fine print within good bills. Stupid way to legislate. There should be "stand alone on its own merit" legislation, but then again I can dream, so far anyway.
