Welcome to ECF! My take is that quitting with e-cigs is 1 part decent gear and 3 parts a bit of motivation. That kit should help get you motivated in the right direction, but you'll still have to apply a little will power to get there.

From my experience, I had cravings for a smoke that were inexplicable. It had nothing to do with the nicotine, maybe a desire for a little more throat hit and whatever it is that a smoke actually magically does somehow. You can just plow through it, a few vapor puffs at a time, and you'll get through it easy enough. It helps if you don't buy more smokes, actually, that's sort of critical in my eye. It took me about 3 days of explicitly using a vaporizer until I wanted to vape instead of smoke. After about 2 weeks, though, those cravings subsided and now rarely hit me. At this point, I smell the smoke on others and wonder how I ever did that...apparently on my way to being a hoity-toity ex-smoker or something.

Welcome to ECF and good luck on your quit!

Hey everyone! I started smoking cigarettes about 5-6 years ago. I have been interested in trying an e-cig for a while now, but lack of research always kept me from buying a disposable unit at the gas station from brands I had never heard of. A week back a good friend of mine brought over his to let me try and I ended up buying it from him. By "it" I mean pretty much his whole kit. Right now I have a Krave 301 and 1001 battery with charger, case, and a handful of 14mg menthol cartridges. He was a light smoker and the Krave helped him quit.

It’s been a week now and the money I’ve saved on cigarettes has already paid off my investment and then some. With that being said, I haven’t quit smoking completely. My 7 pack/week habit has dropped down to 1.5. I love vaping, but the Krave’s throat hit, nicotine content, and flavor all fell just a little short of what could be a full time Marlboro Smooth replacement.

Finally I did my research and decided not to prolong the inevitable. I ordered the Halo G6 starter kit along with a couple mini tanks. To get me started I chose the subzero, mystic, and gourmet sampler on their site, which all should arrive by tomorrow. Very excited to be an ex-smoker soon and help contribute to the forum!:D

try your favorite food or candy flavors.

welcome!
whatever you use that helps you quit smoking is a great device! I'm almost 3 years in and I am still using joye 510s and egos. they work great for me. I ignore people who badmouth what I like :) people seem to forget "to each his own". I have a mod, but I believe in backups so I am using up what I have cause I am not rich lol.

as vapors I don't think we should be badmouthing or discouraging....we have the govern. and the judgmental general public to do that!

small devices are a great way to start the learning process... one can always upgrade when/if they feel ready

awesome! Congratulations on your journey that is just beginning. it is worth it for your health, but also the money you'll save. Although at this point the amount of money I spent on mods, tanks, and everything else that's probably what I would have spent on cigarettes. But this is a much healthier habit.

Congrats on taking the first steps, MosinMan. And like others have said, whatever works for you, works for you.:) There are so many different types of equipment available for sure. I just wanted to GET STARTED vaping, and STOP SMOKING cigarettes. I'm happy with the little beginner ego kit I got, and it's working well for me so far.

One bit of advice from a newbie: I was a smoker for many, many years. I knew how to smoke. I had to learn how to vape. It is a little different. Very satisfactory overall, but definitely different.

30ml of Mystic on the way with my order!
I've also learned these Krave batteries last longer than I was expecting. The USB charger makes battery life almost a non issue though.

Welcome to ECF and your vaping journey!!!!

If I can give you just one piece of advice: Have a bottle of higher nic on hand, JUST IN CASE.

Doesn't matter how far any of us are into our vaping adventure, we all get those cravings for cigs, whether from stress, boredom, habit, whatever. Might not get them for weeks, months, maybe even years, but CYA, CYA.:2c: A higher nic juice can get you through them.

:)

Congrats on your decision to quit, I quit a pack a day habit 5 months ago with ecigs and haven't regretted it a minute! Being fairly new to vaping, I started out with V2 with the cartridges which worked but was expensive. I then went with an Evod and juices which is great, I'm now using a vision spinner which is even better. As for juices well that's a personal choice what one may love you may hate, I was a menthol smoker and so far the only menthol I really like (after spending tons trying I out different companies) is Menthandy from aqua vapor. One more thing I realized is you will never find one which tastes exactly like a real cig, once I accepted that and found my fav juice I was good to go. Good luck and hang in there if I can do it anyone can!

My last cigarette was Monday night. My G6 and supplies came in a tad late that day. I rolled out yesterday morning with just the trick looking 78mm manual battery, one of the Belgian Cocoa cartomizers that came with the kit, and a mini tank w/ sub zero for good measure. This e cig really works great! That extra nicotine must have done the trick. The vapor production and unique flavors must be lending a hand in it, too.

I wanted to give a better report, but apparently my state is in the crosshairs of another winter storm and I need to go buy my bread and vodka. Went ahead and ordered some more mini-tanks and the 102mm battery so that I could get some more e juice sampling done. :)

Too many baffling things on the market especially for a newb like me:laugh:

Totally concur. Don't know yet if I want a kit, but was looking at halo earlier. I'm a light smoker, and waiting for a 5 pack of fling lights from white cloud. After posting tonight, braved the frigid Seattle air via bus, and picked up a couple of blus (that meet with the 20 to 24 mg thing?). Took two puffs when got home, that was enough. I find those give a stronger throat feel than I am used to (must be the way I puff :2c: ). I can see this going well, especially with it so cold outside right now, my nocturnal habits, etc.

I still have almost two packs of cigs left. The others should arrive the beginning of next week. IF I decide to keep vaping, my hope is flavored 0mg units, with only vegetable glycerin, don,t know where to get those.

Used to be dog food, and cigarettes here. Now it's just dog food.
