Hey Everyone,

I'm new to vaping started doing research. I have been a smoker for a while, but quick five years ago, now starting to vape. Lol, I now it does not make much sense but I always liked the sensation was was always able to hold back on cigs due to health concerns.

I started with a cheap pen vape and decided to go up to an Evolve dna 200 from Volcano (just wanted one good purchase rather than small misc one that will break). However, I feel like I got way over my head and have too many questions...

For example, I know everyone's has different vape preferences, but how do I go about testing what works best without breaking my mod? For example, I like the taste at only 20 W but is it okay to set at 20 Watt if my coil says 0.4 Ohms 40-60 Watt (Aspire cleito)? Am I ruining the device if I am not setting it to the 40-60 range as it says on the atomizer?

Also, the Escribe software has a bunch of other settings for this mod that may have dependencies on each other. For example, here are my Current settings:
- Power 20 W
- Preheat Power 40 W
- Preheat Punch 5
- Preheat time limit (1.5)

But when I change the Watts to 40 Watts, do I also need to double the Preheat Power to 80W?

BTW, when I purchased the Volcano, I was suggested to turn off the Temp settings since it does not make much difference to anything and just wastes more battery, so I leave it off.

Thanks for all and any suggestions to a noob trying to use a not-sosnoob toy )

You can use your coil at any power.
Temp control is for coils made of materials (metals) that use TC.
The cleito probably has a selection; just make sure you set the mod to the right 'mode'.
All the rest is tinkering, I guess. Preheat power makes sense to me. Why not, logical. Although I don't like volcano, they do some good online instructions.

You are not going to hurt anything if you vape lower watts.

I use a 200 watt regulated mod (RX200) and rarely vape higher than 30 watts. As long as your vape satisfies YOU, you and your mod will be fine.

Most coils (factory-made) will have a recommended power range (in watts), and you should probably stay within that range. The recommendation will come with the packaging, or actually be engraved on the coil.

I have Temp Control on my mod, but I have never used it. Sorry, no help there.

If you strictly do Power mode (Wattage) you don't have to worry about anything else (preheat, preheat punch, etc etc. Its a simple VV/VW mod that you can just adjust and vape.

Altho you should probably setup your battery Wh correct (assuming volcano ecig didn't do this) and if you want, setup what information you would like appear on your screen both when IDLE + Firing & when charging.

Cool, thanks for all your input.

Now I have to figure out two things, 1) what I did to make spark like juice splats on my tongue when inhaling the vapor and 2) Which is probably related to what @rice721 said about the proper battery Wt correctly, because when I went down to 23%, it no longer let me vape, just a message that batt is low. When I put it on charge it went from 23% to 0% and started charging.

Hello and welcome to the forum @Telmos. Glad to have you here!:)
For example, I know everyone's has different vape preferences, but how do I go about testing what works best without breaking my mod? For example, I like the taste at only 20 W but is it okay to set at 20 Watt if my coil says 0.4 Ohms 40-60 Watt (Aspire Cleito)? The numbers printed on the coil are suggested operating ranges. These are not "hard" numbers. You can vape "lower/higher" if you want. If you go too low you might experience "spit back" where there is more juice in the coil/cotton that you are vaporizing. If this happens try raising your wattage so that you vaporize some of that excess juice.

The rule of thumb for EVERY vape device you'll ever own is the same (when running in power or wattage/voltage mode). Turn your voltage/wattage down, take a few hits, bump it up, couple more hits. Repeat until you find your "sweet spot". If it starts to taste funny, gets too hot or tastes burnt, back it down. Different flavors will have different sweet spots so you just have to experiment.

The sweet spot is somewhere between the "vape is cool but not too cool" or "warm but not too warm". I like my fruits vapes cooler and my desert vapes warmer. Everyone has their own preferences.

If it's set too cool, the vapor droplets can be too large and actually harsher. But you will also need a lower setting if you pull through less air than intended, allowing heat buildup. This also means you will probably get better results with a coil designed for lower power use.

You must use TC for TC coils, with non-TC coils it won't really work but possibly the preheat might help. I don't own any, but theoretically TC should help it adapt to you not hitting it the same way every time.

I'm assuming your mod is a lavabox with the 900mah 3 pack lipo. If it is the Wh if calculated is 9.99Wh, I usually just manually input 10.2wh for my 900mah lipo DNA200 devices.
