What mod and settings are you using?

I will pick up a T8 coil for my TFV8 Cloud Beast tomorrow morning, saturate and prime and take close note of the entire process as I do it (to be sure I can give you my whole process and to base on in case there are issues).

Off the top of my head, set your wattage a good bit below what you'll be hitting at, saturate your coil manually rather than filling and waiting (it's fine if you don't mind waiting 20+ minutes and those terrible fresh cotton hits, but I'd sat/prime manually as it doubles for that initial break in and burn-off). Once you are fairly well saturated, do fairly short fire bursts while blowing down into the coil head (very short bursts), then after each one or two bursts, slowly drip directly into the cotton on each coil bore without over saturating (you don't want pooling on the coil itself). This has a few beneficial components, 1 being once you are mostly saturated, it warms what you have already dripped in and aides flow of the rest, 2 its helps with dust and handling contamination burn-off, and 3 all fresh cotton gives you some funky hits for the first few firings. Make sure your mod is not set above the "recommended" range for the coil for this initial process, and for example. my Revenger X has 3 VW modes to select from, HIGH, Normal and Low. Use Normal or Low, not TC settings as I still have yet to come across a tank coil head other than the RBA that can truly support TC. Once you have saturated and primed using the very very short firings, do your first several hits at a lower wattage then go up within the coil head's range to get to your preference. This sounds like a much longer process than it really is, actual process takes about 5 minutes. Again, what mod & batteries & settings are you using?

Clean your connections in the tank (gently, no abrading). Make sure the coil head is threaded down firmly but not over-torqued. That's a .15 coil head so you should not be reading nearly .20 on it. Have you had and juice leaks from the bottom of the tank? Baby Beast would be the tank rather than the mod. What do you happen to have that Baby Beast on top of?

Also clean out the connection at the top of the mod that your tank screws down onto.

Start around 80 and work up. Consistency issues with the Alien may also be part of the problem. I had one I recently gave away, nothing good to say about it. Try the process I outlined earlier, do that at between 70W and 80W to get the fresh coil saturated, primed and ready. Work up from that point in 2W intervals until you reach a satisfying level while hopefully avoiding burning the coil.

I'll pick up a Baby T8 coil in the morning and go from there. I have two tanks, including the TFV8 Baby that can rock that coil and I did order the T8 & T6 coils. You can PM me and as soon as I get up an run over to the shop, we can run through it when it's good for you.

Free, it is like normal, just when i take a pull beyond like 1 second long EVEYRTHING BURNS lol

I'll head to our shop in the morning and pick up a T8. Just to confirm, are you rockin' the TFV8 Baby or Big Baby? Side note, the Vaporesso GT coils and the eLeaf HW coils are also cross compatible with the TFV8 Baby Beast tanks, and vise-versa.

Where I live, i dont think they sell those coils, but I will check next time I go, I will definitely use those since Ive heard Smok coils are bad, and I am using TFV8 Cloud Beast

I have had decent luck with the Smok coils, other than the hit or miss leakage. I have the TFV8 Cloud Beast, Baby, Big Baby and the Vaporesso NRG (purely coincidence that the coils are cross compatible (except for the Cloud Beast) btw (on my end, lol). I've used the Smok T6's with great results but I'm not sure if I have used wthe the T8 or not. I've been in NE for 2.5 months and since the big flop on the Alien most of the shops within reasonable reach to me have almost entirely dropped Smok. I'm kind of fond of Smok myself so when my employers opened a vape shop I did order the range of coils so I am going to check out the issue your describing for myself ( I have the TFV8 Cloud Beast, Baby Beast, Big Baby and the Vaporesso NRG that's compatible with the baby line). So I'm gonna check that out. But I think your break in wattage might just be a bit too high. Generally I break in a new coil (saturating and all) about 10 to 15W lower than the "Best" rating and then move up. The juice you're using can also play into it as well.

Prime lower also juice sitting in a coil overnight doesn't work. You need capillary action (sucking basically) to draw elqiuid into the coil. I start without even FIRING the mod, then work my way up to whatever wattage is comfortable, priming as I go. I start at 5 watts, and even if no visible vapor is produced, you are still wicking liquid into that coil.

Also.... Perhaps your wattage is a TAD high (for your juice, your coil whatever it is). If taking a LONG drag produces burnt, then your wattage is too high (recommended wattage is somewhat meaningless) I have one coil ATM that is rated at 30--90 watts. I'm a MTL vaper so I'm vaping it on the low side, but that is a pretty broad range. The recommended wattage is just that, and depending on your juice and inhales style, your coil just may not be able to handle it without burning almost instantaneously.

Checking out some other manufacturer's coils may be helpful, too.

Best of luck. Lower wattage and increase airflow, then prime correctly. Good luck. You may be surprised you get a decent or even great vape at lower wattages.

If it tastes burnt the head is most likely done for because you've burnt or at least singed the wicking material surrounding the coils.
After a head tastes burnt there is only a very slim chance (like 2%) that it will ever taste right again.

Thoroughly prime a new head by dripping drops of liquid on all exposed wicking material until fully saturated, then install in base, fill tank, thread together. Let it sit upright a few minutes.

Start off at a low power setting like 50w, gradually increase power over at least the first half tank to ensure the head is wicking properly to prevent burning this one too and allowing it to 'break in' without burning.
You may not get a satisfactory vape during this process but it is better than burning up another head.

The easiest way to ruin a new head is to zap it with too much power too soon. Always start low & gradually work up, when you find what you like in vape quality stop.

Your method worked, but it still had a slight hint of the burnt smell/taste, anyway to get rid of that?

@20Stack, since you like high wattage vaping, I think what missing is cooling your coil down not to burn your liquid. Cooling means changing your inhale style.

With air opening halfway, do a hard DL draw for less than a second. A real hard and fast draw should cool your coil down. Draw hard like there's no tomorrow. One second is all it takes to fill an ex-smoker lung.

Hope you're not trying to reuse a burned coil with a horrid taste. Once burned, the coil is done. Take the advice you've gleaned and start with a fresh coil at lower watts and work up as you think you need.

I'm not familiar with your setup and honestly can't offer as good advice as others. But just an observation, that resistance (0.197) sounds low. Curious, what is the coil resistance advertised to be? Wondering if the mod is reading the coil correctly?

Yeah, his wattage is TAD high.... I mean tiny, tiny, tiny TAD too high.... recommended range for that coil is 60-80 watts... so fresh brand new coil vaped at 100 watt is TAD high....:lol::lol:

Can anybody explain me why people need to vape at 100 watt??? From time to time just for fun I do vape on my Smok baby beast tank and I never exceeded 50 watts... higher I go less flavor I am getting and vape is way too hot to be satisfying....
