New box mod. Hard to breathe.

I started out with the Halo G6 e-cig, then a single battery mod with a protank 2(cant remember the brand) and then to a Sigeli 20w also with the protank 2. After 2 or 3 years of using that mod the drops took their toll and the screen went blank. I just recently went and picked up the smok Alien that comes with a baby beast tank. My first box mod. It was hard to use without coughing but it's gotten better the more I use it. The problem is after hitting it, my breaths become very heavy for about 3 to 4 breaths and I'll get a sharp pain in my lungs shortly after that and then it all goes away.

Is there any reason this is happening? Is it something I just have to get used to or should I go back to the Sigeli?

I think it has more to do with your tank, than your mod. all mods do the same thing pretty much, which it to supply power to your atomizer.

On the Sigeli I only used 7.3 watts but on this mod I'm using 30-35. The sigeli I can hit like a cigarette but the Alien I have to inhale from the start

you should be able to use your protank on your alien. it's not really a mod issue, but a tank issue. if you're dead set on using your baby beast tank, you can try turning the wattage down and closing the airflow.

did it come with different types of coils? if so, try using a higher resistance coil with less power.

You're using a lower resistance coil at much higher wattages, so you're getting an awful lot more vapour in your inhale. Your lungs don't seem to like it, and lungs aren't things you should upset. You can probably fix the problem by backing off a bit as @petrotech says - either turn down the Baby Beast or switch back to the Protank.

What nicotine strength are you using in your juice? That Beast tank will dump a lot more nic into you than a Protank.

If you increased your wattage from 7.3 to 30+, your vape is WAAAAAAAAY hotter now and maybe your lungs don't like that. Also, if you are vaping the same nic strength, that is a no-no for most people with high wattage like that with such hot vapor. That beast tank is also very low resistance (ohms), which needs to be run at higher wattages. It's for people who like direct lung vaping with large clouds. Not even anywhere near the same thing as a protank 2.

I think you need to stop using those cloud chaser clearomizers and get back to normal vaping no higher than 20W and no lower than 1ohm.

You can still use your alien mod. Just get rid of that fog machine tank you bought and get a tank for which you can buy coils that are 1 ohm or higher. That's a cool vape, not hot.

We're smokers, that's why we vape! We don't vape to turn ourselves into human fog machines & enter cloud contests. lol That's for trendy vapers who have nothing better to do with their lungs and lives.

15W at 1.2 ohms suits me fine. And I'm not ashamed of it. Even at 15W, I get way more vapor than I ever got smoke from an analog.

Your nic level might be too high with the Baby Beast.

Also, what % vg/pg juice are you using?

I use an Alien and cloud beast and it's a good vape. Try cutting your e liquid 50/50 with glycerin this will smooth out your vape and give you plenty of vapor should help with the coughing. Good luck .

what you think you pump into your lungs with the baby beast compared to MUCH weaker machines...!

Nic you get is much too much, try 2 mg or 3 mg at the highest.

I know what you are feeling. I came from a 13 watt MTL vape to a Smoke Tfv8 baby. I thought the tank was bad or my nic strength was to strong. Came to find out I was drawing to slow. I was getting a huge throat hit prior. Remember your pulling air in with the vape. Try to pull hard as soon as you press the fire button and keep pulling for a second after you release the button. All oxygen is coming in through the air vents and not after you pull the mod away from your mouth. Trust me your story is just how I felt going to the Smok baby but the issue was me.
