I really don't do many reviews and I'm not GrimmGreen(Although I have been vaping as long as he has). I have been vaping exclusively on the SB for a few days now and I think I can give my definitive opinion.
There are only two things that I look at with a new mod(Can't believe I'm calling this a "New" mod.....but it is to me), Design and Performance. Anything else is a non-factor(except price)
Design: I have heard some people refer to theis device as a glorified battery holder. It does hold batteries but it is much much more. The style is plain enough, flat on top and flat on the bottom which works well for me as I like to stand my mod up when I am not using it at home. The side switch(button)is just where I want it to be when holding it and using my thumb for activation. The switch itself(Not sure if it's plastic or metal?),is easy to press.Because the switch is recessed there seems to be little chance of any "In pocket" missfires. The two piece construction is what I like best. It screws together towards the center with the batteries resting on the inside spring on the bottom half, very little tension putting the two pieces together. It is a step up from most mods that have that spring loaded cap on the bottom, which are hard to screw on at times. The threads themselves are of the "Fat" variety so no fear of stripping them. Once again, not sure what metal this mod is made of? but it is extremely durable and would take alot of effort to damage it(Other than typical scratches). The fact that the SB is now available in colors should have more much appeal to those who were not fond of Silver(Like me)
The only downside to design may be the weight. This is THE biggest and heaviest mod I have ever held or owned. For me no big issue as I have big hands. It may not appeal to those who like smaller(analog sized)devices. One other downside may lie with the 510 top which is not meant for adapters but for 510 atomizer/cartomizers only. I did try to screw in an 801 adapter, but found some resistance and stopped. Not really a big deal as the 510 is now the style of choice by most who vape.
Performance: I know I am breaking the rules by using stacked batteries with this mod, but I did buy it to use at higher voltages than 3.7. Longer lasting 3.7v batteries with Lr atty/carto's may work for some,but not for me. I am using protected batteries(and always do),and have had no issues so far with batteries overheating. I really have no worries about ventilation as I heard mention that there IS ventilation through the top. I won't mention what batteries I am using, but I am reaching near perfection with the results in regard to vapor production and TH. I did try using a Lr carto with this battery combination and found it to be just a touch warmer than I want my TH to be. The carto never gave out just the same after a couple hours of use.
I have since been using a regular resistance 510 carto and I couldn't be happier with the vapor production and TH. The draw is outstanding with the recessd 510 connector and the carto's snuggly connected,no need to over tighten. For one reason or another battery life has improved using this mod as opposed to using the same batteries on other HV mods. Go figure. No problems with the switch either as there has been prior mention of it sticking from time to time(I have been told a tap or two will solve that problem if it occurs)
Now for the Pro's and Con's
Pros: Durable
Dependable(so far)
Solid Vapor Production
Awesome TH(using as HV device)
Color selection(Cool)
Price($85......That's cheap)
Cons: May be too big,bulky and heavy for some users(Get a BB)
Final opinion: I really wish I would have bought this Mod when it was first released. I really hesitated because I didn't want a silver mod. But it was named the Silverbullet appropriately. The color scheme really helped me make the decission to buy one when I found I needed a new mod. Am I happy with my decission? Hell yes! This is THE best Mod I have ever owned! I give it a 4 out of 5 just because I have only had it a few days........I'm sure that will change. Altsmoke please do not stop making this ok?
I have begun saving my pennies for my next SB.........Only question is what color?
