Ok so I was sitting at the table before with my Tornado next to me doing some work. My two year old runs up and grabs it. I quickly grabbed it out of her hands, told her never to touch it again and that was pretty much it. She had it in her hand no more than 1 second and she grabbed the lower end of the battery.

About a minute after she grabbed it she said that her finger was burning. I checked my Tornado and there was no juice on it anywhere. All my juices are locked away so she couldn't have gotten to them.

I ran her over to the sink and washed her up good. This was about an hour ago and she's totally fine and normal.

My question is, if there was something wrong (Nic poisoning, etc.) wouldn't she have already shown some sort of symptoms? I'm worried because it's almost bed time and I'm wondering if I should keep her up for a while just to make sure shes ok.

I seriously doubt, if she got a whole lot of nic on her, unless you are using a mix that is pretty much pure nic, if it hurt her.
I would advise that you keep your PV out reach for anymore quick grabs.
I'd also advise leaving it up where, even if she climbed, she couldn't get to it when your not around.

Of course you are talking to a grandma who won't even leave a diet soda in reach because of the caffeine and aspartame---don't want my granddaughter ingesting either.

Oh yeah. If she had nic poisoning, it would have shown up within a few minutes.

I suspect she got a very mild chemical burn. Getting nic juice on your lips can burn a little, right? A child that young has very sensitive and delicate skin. What feels soft to you can feel like sandpaper to an infant.

We forget that we all have a tolerance to nicotine, and also that we are much larger than a toddler. What some people vape could make a full-grown adult sick if they don't have a tolerance, or even just a tolerance that isn't as high. But if it's a small child, that effect is magnified.

So, nic juice that doesn't burn our skin could burn hers.

I very much doubt you have anything to worry about at this point. If she had contacted a dangerous level of nicotine, you would definitely know it by now.

Calling a medical professional of some variety (poison control, doctor, etc) certainly couldn't hurt. But don't fret too much.

Hi KenCan98. Did you use to smoke cigarettes and tell her "don't touch; you'll get burned" or something to that effect? She may be remembering that admonition & warning. And, translating it into touching the Tornado. "It burns." Or if she saw "smoke" coming from it/you, interpreting it as, "It burns."

Nic overdose would show up very, very quickly, within a matter minutes. In small children the very first symptoms are feverish, fretful & agitated, runny itchy eyes & nose, light-sensitivity (headache), and tummy grip. And, honestly these symptoms show up within a matter on minutes.

How do I know this? I was a tobacconist (custom-blending, etc.) and had two toddlers in the house and shop. MSDS were my best friends. And, I had a fantastic pediatrician =}.

Glad everything turned out ok, and it's just a reminder that our small children need to be protected from the stuff we have laying around we don't think of as dangerous.

I came home one day when little Igor was two to find this:

tannoy.jpg

Over $5000 worth of Tannoy loudspeakers, three of five 25 micron titanium dome tweeters pushed in. What can you do? Igor never touched my hi fi gear again, but I'd rather something happen to my stuff than happen to him.

LOL Vapenstein, my good friend just had his boy hit his 52 inch LCD because he got scared by one of the characters in the show he was watching. It proceeded to slide down the wall, unjack everything and come to a crashing halt on the floor. His son was fine (aside from being doubly scared now), but there is now an off colored hand print and cracks in the screen!

My 2 year old grandson is always very curious about my Buzz as he was with cigs. He never got ahold of either but even when he was 6 months old ( I still smoked then) he would take his finger or a cylinder shaped toy and put it in his mouth and smoke it like a cig. It was so funny to see him do this. Of course his mom and dad did not see the humor at all. But I think that your 2 yo would definately being showing some signs of illness by now if there were any problems. It is easy for us all to say to keep it out of their reach at all times but accidents do happen so don't beat yourself up too bad over this. I am sure that it is a mistake that you will never make again.

Can't get mad at 'em. When you're an first time expecting father you think "man, I hope my stuff will be ok with a baby running around". Then you get a baby running around and you learn fast what's really important, and it's not your stuff.

Glad that the OP's and your friend's stories didn't have different endings. All that stuff is just stuff, what's really important is the little ones.

It's really important to a) make sure your little ones can't get their hands on your vaping gear, and b) make sure you drill it into them that this stuff is deadly poison and they are to never, ever touch it.

I agree completely. :vapor: couldn't have said it any better.

This was my first thought as well
