I remember a suggestion someone here said and I am sorry I don't remember who but it has stuck with me and saved me many a time. Well anyway, the advise was to draw slow like on a really thick shake.

Then even after you have it down things come up. Even a change in liquid thickness can make a difference on the draw.

good luck

Well I spent today using only the TW fluid.

I discovered that one of my batteries appears to be bunk. I get about half an hour and then it's dead (after an overnight charge.) I've got three others, so it should be fine.

I learned that to loosen the battery ever so slightly after a snug fit will create a little more flow in the atomizer (I don't understand why -- but it seems to work.)

The TW fluid definitely creates more vapor, about 50% more vapor in this case, but it's still not really very impressive. One out of every 10 drags feels like a "good" one.

JC original tastes much better, but it's all about the vapor for me. I have tried adding a drop or two of VG into the cart and mixing it up. Three drops of JC, two drops of VG and then a couple more drops of JC. But that doesn't make any noticeable difference to me.

I'm going to wait until my replacement atomizers arrive to try cleaning this one.

I'll post more once I've done that.

Thanks everyone!

I have a 901 and use auto batteries and a manual USB passthru.

I get much more vapor with the manual USB passthru, but the auto ones are acceptable to me, even if I'm not blowing out clouds of vapor.

The juice makes a big difference in the amount of vapor, too. I've gotten juice from different vendors, and even different flavors from the same vendor give me different amounts of vapor and different amount of 'throat hit'

So far, one of my favorite juices is from Rocky Mountain Vapor, a capuccino flavor called 'The Art'. (I also like their cherry-limeade flavor.) At the moment, I'm vaping the capuccino that I've topped off with some caramel - mmmm!

I started with a manual 510 and now also have a 901 for the flavor. I was excited to get started and crushed when only little wisps came out and the wisps tasted very burnt. A definite downer and I thought that I had made a major mistake with e-cigs. I was drawing harder and harder on my 510 to try to get the vapor output and nothing but burnt, yucky nothing. Back to the forum and Icame across cleaning 510 attys before using them and, more importantly, the idea of drawing on an e-cig differently than an analog. The trick it said was to draw slowly and gently.

Wow! Heavy vapor. And tasty. Gentle, slow draws were amazing and consistent; when I was collapsing my cheeks and sucking away I got nothing. I also learned to push the button on my manual battery a second or two before I inhaled if I wanted great vapor - about the time it takes my hand to go from my side to my mouth.

When I got my automatic 901 four days ago it worked great with the slow draw at first. Then I topped of a cart and it wouldn't heat up no matter how hard I drew (did it again.) I started cheating by covering the little hole on the side of the atty for less than a second when I began drawing and then uncovering it (it helps that I play many different kinds of wind instruments.) I discovered yesterday that when the battery is weak I have to start covering the hole so, it is low batteries that were giving me the main trouble.

I also noticed that the 510 didn't care whether it was flooded or not - it just sizzled it away. My 901 does not like being flooded and nothing comes out until after I blow it out real good. Now, being a 10-day old pro, I can pull one of them out of my pocket and grab a great heavy vape almost without thinking about it. (Until my next learning experience:)

Another thing I did in the beginning that had me researching was an atty that died after about half an hour. Strangely, sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. It took awhile (and the forum) for me to realize that it happened right after I had demonstrated to my wife how they worked and I had overtightened the battery on an atty. I finally looked inside to find the center wire had snapped off. I have it set aside to resolder. Remember to be careful how much you tighten the battery!

The biggest thing that turned my wisps into clouds of vapor was drawing lightly and slowly. I learned to draw with hardly any pressure. Completely different from analogs. Give it a try.

The whole post is worth a repeat, but here is the bottom line for new users scanning/skimming the advice threads. This is NOT like a cig. You will get your nicotine but you just need to use it differently!

Thank you. I really learned something here!!!

My Joye 510 and two stainless steel 901 atomizers arrived today! Much earlier than I'd expected.

I have the batteries charging up, so I haven't had a chance to try the 510 yet.

But the new atomizer for my 901 has really opened my eyes.

First:
I went back to my M401 for a day and bit the bullet and boiled my only working 901 atomizer yesterday. I set it into cold water and let the water boil up for about 3 minutes. There wasn't really anything visible in the water after, but I blew it out, and then let it dry.

While using the 401 with it's replacement atomizer I was delighted with the vapor on it. Also the TW tobacco e-liquid I'd found to be throaty and salty in the 901 was smooth and really sweet in the 401. I was surprised, and really liked it. I thought I'd be challenged while waiting for the atomizer to dry, but instead I forgot all about it and just enjoyed the 401. I found myself thinking that every starter kit should really come with 2 atomizers -- one to flood, gunk up and break, and the second to actually use once you get the hang of a device.

I was really surprised at how much water came out of the atomizer after I cleaned it. Even after 8 hours of drying, the atomizer worked, produced vapor, but it was wet, warm, and watery tasting. So I tried to blow it out and quite a bit more water came out, so I let it sit until morning.

Second:
This morning I put the clean 901 atomizer onto a freshly charged battery, and connected a re filled cartridge and fired it up. It was a serious improvement, but it still didn't make much vapor.

When the 510 and replacement 901 atomizers arrived, I got completely distracted unpacking the 510, and setting up the charger, and reading the instructions. When I got to it, I connected one of the new atomizers to another freshly charged battery, and a re filled cartridge. All I can say is "Wow!" It's night and day. There's almost too much throat hit, and so much lovely vapor. Skeptical, I've stayed on this all day -- puffing quite a bit -- and have remained totally amazed at the difference.

Again, I really can't stress enough to someone new how important the learning curve is, and the importance of having a second atomizer.

As I prepared for bed, the second 510 battery is connected to the charger, and I'm pretty excited to put it together and give it a try...

I'll write more tomorrow with my impressions of the 510.

I'm delighted with the 401 and the 901 tonight. Thank you to everyone here for your thoughtful input, and for your many other threads. I haven't had a cigarette in quite some time, and today was the first stress-free and temptation free day of vaporizing since this all started a couple months ago. Really, thank you.

I spent all day today with the 510.

Wow... You guys weren't kidding. What a lovely device.

The praise
Beautiful plumes of glorious vapor. I've been looking for e-liquid that's not quite so sweet, but somehow the 510 seems to diffuse the "sweet" flavor and mixes the vapor and the flavor into a lovely blend.

I love the manual button. What a treat to feel a little crackling in my mouth before I begin my drag. So easy to draw the vapor into my mouth. This is what I'd always hoped vaping would be like. I'm delighted.

The down side:
The batteries, as everyone has said, really don't last long enough.
I was out, with both batteries charged, and ran through them both. Panic. Ran home to recharge, and picked up my 901 in the meantime. The sweetness of the tobacco flavor was thick and sticky in my 901 and I brushed my teeth and waited an hour or so for the 510 to charge up instead.

I ordered two of the larger batteries, and some more e-liquid too. Hopefully that will help out.

Now that I'm delighted with a model, and seem to more or less know what I'm doing, I think I have a little too much gear on my hands...

5 901 atomizers
4 901 automatic batteries
2 901 manual batteries
2 901 battery adapters
2 901 chargers

1 401 atomizer
2 401 atomizers
2 401 chargers

I'm thinking that there's gotta be some method to my madness, and all this buying excitement.

The main thing is that I'm totally delighted with the 510, and feel like it's working as well as I'd hoped it would. No analog smokes in months, and finally... vapor!

Now I need to live up to my forum nick name!

: )

Thanks you guys for your everything.

I'm glad that everything is working out for you and your 510! I've heard of people with much more equipment than you have, some with TONS of it. Believe me, if I had the money, I'd have tons of it too!
