I think instead of you worrying about what to say to her, let her do the talking. Ask her why she wants to try it so badly. Tell her you can completely understand her rationalization, though it's not justification, its understandable. But why does she want to use it? Ask her if she has thought of the possible consequences involved. Better yet, make her list the possible consequences for you to read. Communication is key. And it seems nowadays parents are talking more and listening less. See what she has to say.

With that said, I'd would make her a deal. Set a date. A date respectively far away. Lets say her 17th birthday? Or 6-12 months from now? Tell her, if she still wants to try your PV on that date, she can. Kids at that age are extremely impulsive. I know because I'm 24 and still feeling the reminisce of my teen years. Passions change from one week to the next. Chances are that if she waits a couple months, the idea won't seem so hot anymore. And even if she still tries it when you let her, she likely won't have as much enthusiasm as she does now for the thing. My mother used this trick on me all the time. You can have it if you still want it in 6 months. And 90% of the time, I'd forget about the thing in 2 weeks. I'd be harping on about some other gizmo, gadget, or pet animal.

Also, as others have stated, make sure to explain the dangers involved in vaping. While an extremely smart alternative to smoking, it's not healthy by any means. And, with the possibility of PV's being outlawed, anyone who got started on vaping may end up on cigarettes. Very scary indeed!

Good luck. You sound like a great parent with only the best intentions in mind.

Best to think this one over during a fresh vape :D

My honest opinion?

Go for it. She's looking at non-nicotine products. Which are NOT illegal or even regulated, nor will they ever be (probably). I will never understand the whole stance that these products are "only for smokers". That's a bunch of crap. That's my stance with the non-nicotine liquids. Sure, let her get one. Why not?

If she wants to use nicotine after shes of legal age? That's her choice. When so many vapers, vendors and researchers talking about how nicotine is no worse than caffeine, an idea we push HARD, why are we so adamant that NO ONE BUT US should use these? What's the reasoning? Where's the logic?

Sure, inhaling PG/VG and flavorings may not be ideal, but as someone who used to work in an industry that monitored residential air quality as part of his job, I can guarantee you one thing. The inhalation of PG and VG can't be any worse than breathing at all in the average home. Period.

So, to the OP: Get her a starter kit and some no-nic liquids. She'll either like it, or it'll just be another gizmo that starts collecting dust after a couple of weeks. If she moves on to nicotine later on in life, really, who cares? Because having a nic-laced vape is about on par with having a cup of coffee. Or have we been blowing vapor up each others' and everyone elses asses?

Don't do it...

Sure you can use the 0 Nic and think that she will try it and not do it, or that the 0 Nic wont hurt... but if your child likes it, it could and probably WILL lead to them experimenting further. I mean think of smokers, Im sure most people started off with the Light stuff and Ultralights and worked their way up to the hard stuff. (thats what I did)

Its just not a good habit.

HOWEVER!!! if your kids a "rebel" and you think your kids going to start smoking anyway. (I know lots of my friends started smoking at 14 and 15) then I would have to say yes... I would rather have my 16year old using my e-cig then going out and buying illegal cigarettes from John Doe on the street.

Hope this helps :)

Sorry folks, ECF does not support any discussions involving supplying ecigs to minors. With the FDA and antis trying to use the argument 'ecigs will appeal to minors' to get them banned, condoning buying them for minors on the open forum is probably not wise.
