And just to be clear, Koolada is not as strong as Menthol and provides a 'cooling' effect while Menthol provides more of a throat hit with less of a cooling effect?
I would not agree with the first part of your question; many people find Koolada quite strong. I have also read posts where DIYers have said that one will cool on the inhale while the other cools on the exhale (I'm sorry but I don't remember which is which).
For me, menthol has a very distinct Vics Vap-O-Rub taste/smell to me which I don't care for, so I don't use it often.
My experience has been that either
can add throat hit when enough is added. Koolada doesn't have any flavor to speak of.
If you want to avoid throat hit I would start either (menthol or Koolada) at 0
.5% and work up from there.
I may just use this bottle of Koolada that I have already if this stuff doesn't go bad or get weaker over time. It is a Koolada 10% from TFA in a glass vial, and it's like 3 or 4 years old.
If you haven't already tried it; by all means do. It won't go "bad." It
may have lost a little of its potency but it shouldn't be spoiled. If it looks like any crystals have formed just put it in a cup of warm water for a bit and then shake the stuffing out of it. The crystals should dissolve back into solution.
So if I pick up a Koolada and Menthol and mix it 50/50 and add a few drops to my juice, I should be good to go right?
I would strongly discourage you from just arbitrarily mixing the two together
until you know that is how you like it. You may find you like it 1:1, 2:1, 1:2, or some other ratio better. Or, like me, not care for one of them at all.
I know it is not what you want to hear, but you need to spend a little time, and find what works best for you. As DannyV previously said work in small amounts until you get a feel for your own sweet spot so you don't ruin all your store-bought. Once you get the idea of where you like it
then you can look for shortcuts to make it easier/faster for you.
