Miracle Taste - I Ordered Some & will post results.

I have known about this stuff for quite some time and am finally getting around to trying it out.

Although the berry itself is not sweet, it contains an active molecular ingredient, a glycoprotein molecule, with some trailing carbohydrate chains, called Miraculin. This molecule masks the tongue’s sour taste buds, causing bitter and sour foods (such as lemons and limes) later consumed to taste sweet. This effect lasts for up to 30 minutes and sometimes as long as two hours. It is not a sweetener, as it’s effects depend on what you eat afterwards, but has been used to sweeten bitter medicines. - It will not however, make sweet foods taste sweeter.
It is called (seriously) The Miracle Fruit. When you eat a berry or tablet it will, for a short duration, make sour and bitter taste sweet, very sweet. Plain lemon juice becomes highly sweet lemonade. I have read that BEER tastes like a milkshake.

I am thinking I could test this with some of the flavors that fit this bill. Lemon comes to mind first but I am going to research and try to find a list of possible fruits that would seemingly be good with this "miracle berry".

I have very limited experience with flavored liquids I thought I would post this and get some suggestions for the test. Lemon comes to mind... but if you guys know of some other types of flavors that have that bitter or sour taste please post here so I can consider getting some.

Here are some informational links.

This is where I bought mine from.

This is the forum where I found American based companies selling the miracle fruits. Scroll down to see the list from the United States. I just picked the first one there... YMMV.

This is the wiki.

If you have tried this stuff before please post your thoughts.

Thanks!

EDIT:

What I plan on doing is before I know I am going to vape I am going to let 1/3 of a pill dissolve in my mouth. Then vape :)

Read this thread on another forum to find out what to try, this is where I am getting ideas.

Neatoooooo and right here in my backyard! (Scottsdale, Arizona).

I'm looking forward to hearing your experience. Could change the way our liquids taste (I'm thinking about what it could do to jazz up the taste of my yucky strawberry and cherry juice!!).

Thought that it making beer tasting like soda sounded kinda fun... LOL!

My initial thoughts are that NONE of our liquids have much of a "sweet flavor" and seems to be something people are looking for. You CANNOT add this to the liquid as the molecule structure WILL break down under any kind of heat. Looking right now for sour or bitter flavorings ONLY.

I happen to have some on me that I ordered from Thinkgeek. I've dissolved one, and I'll vape all the flavors I have in front of me here at work.

I would have brought more bitter or tart flavors, but I didn't ever think about combining miraculin with vaping. All these flavors are either from Johnson's Creek or Vapor4Life. All are being vaped on a VaporKing(KR808D-1) USB passthrough. All flavors are 24mg unless stated otherwise. Johnson's Creek flavors are Reduced PG formula.

V4L Ice Cream sundae(36mg) - This started as a sweet flavor(Chocolate+Vanilla+Cream). With the miracle berry tablet, it is somewhat sweeter, and the flavor is subtly changed, hard to say in what way.

V4L Cherry - This is a traditional cherry flavor with a little bit of tartness. After the miracle berry, the slight tartness is gone, but I don't detect much change in the sweetness. Flavor is still very cherry.

V4L White Chocolate Strawberry - This is a combination of chocolate, cream, and strawberry I think. With the miracle berry, the strawberry flavor comes through a bit more strongly. Tastes sweeter on the tongue.

Johnson's Creek Spiced Apple Cider - This is traditionally a dead on spiced apple cider flavor. After the miracle berry tablet, the spice has been reduced, and the apple flavor comes through more clearly. Quite an effect.

Johnson's Creek J.C. Original - Hard to say what this tastes like to start, and after the miracle berry. Certainly the taste has changed to some degree, mostly for the negative.

Johnson's Creek French Vanilla - Originally this is a very sharp vanilla flavor. Some don't like it, but I appreciate the sharper taste. After the miracle berry, the sharpness has been muted, and the vanilla comes through much more strongly. Quite sweet on the tongue.

Johnson's Creek Chocolate Truffle - Originally a good chocolate flavor. Flavor even stronger after the miracle berry, and I swear I can taste some mint in there. Sweet on the tongue.

V4L Peanut Butter Cup(Original formula) - The original formulation had little to no chocolate flavor, very strong peanut flavor. After the miracle berry, tastes much like peanut brittle, appreciably sweeter.

V4L Tart Green Apple - Originally a tart green apple flavor, kind of like green apple Jolly Ranchers. Huge difference after the miracle berry, the tartness is completely gone. It is now a much more mellow apple flavor. Very impressive change.

Sorry for the lack of flavors tested and short reviews, I'm supposed to be working right now... :)

It's hard to believe someone that had some miraculin laying around had not thought to test this yet. From what you have posted this seems to have some potential.

I have loranns available locally and plan on getting lots of different flavors in the tart/bitter category. I will post results back later. To note I have read in several places now that coffe and espresso are greatly enhanced (non sweetened) by this miraculin. I love coffee, and from being on the forums for a while I can see many other do as well.

Can't wait to get my shipment of tabs!! Not only for vapeing... there are other uses I am reading as well. Muhahahaha.

Well I ordered it a few months back, and after going crazy for a couple days eating tons of citrus fruits, I kinda burned myself out and forgot about them for a while.

Well in terms of actual drinks, black coffee is pretty amazing with miraculin. The weak brew they make at my work is palatable, and a strong Italian roast becomes one of the most amazing things ever.

Just be careful with it. Most food tastes pretty horrible with it. Well, maybe not horrible, but so foreign you'll think it's gone bad. Unless you are a glutton for punishment, stay away from most savory foods. Plus, once you let the tablet dissolve, you're stuck on the ride for an hour or two. Even water, milk, and soft drinks taste pretty gosh darned different.

I am speaking of extracurricular activities performed with a significant other when everyone is sleeping. I have read it can greatly enhance the experience.

Its too bad that the ingredients are probably no good for vaping in this product.

Tart & Sour Flavor Boost

I am uncertain but i think the ingredients are similar to the following:

Ingredients: citric acid water malic acid and sodium citrate.

if it was ok to vape those ingredients we would have flavoring additives for all flavors :(. I Don't think those are good for vapeing though.

I'm not sure, but I believe Dekang and others already use citric acid and malic acid as flavorings in e-liquids. I swear I can taste both of these in various liquids.

Interesting. I would like to see some more comments on this because IF they are safe to vape, it could radically change the way we are vapeing.

Who wants to dissolve a capsule in their mouth every time they want to vape? Not many. And this is going to be the hitch for many. Personally I would not care, it may make eating healthy a pleasurable experience. By the way its not that difficult to grow these. I am a tinkerer so if this works I will be buying an already producing plant to negate the cost of the fruit completely.

i tried miracle berry tablets a few months ago, it was a fun experience. google search 'flavor tripping' and you can find info on different foods and how they taste after consuming miraculin. sour foods really do taste sweet.

my first hour with this stuff, i spent cutting up lemons and eating them like oranges; they taste like they are covered in sugar, literally! but be careful, just because they don't taste sour anymore, doesnt mean that there is no citric acid. too much citrus can really do damage to your esophagus and stomach lining!! but in moderation, it's fun.

a few others i remember vividly:
lemons/limes/grapefruit - taste great, like they're coated in sugar
guiness beer - tastes like a milkshake
pizza - the tomato sauce tastes sickeningly sweet :(
blue moon beer - (with or without an orange) tastes INCREDIBLY sweet
different cheeses - some taste like frosting, others don't change
sour patch kids candy - VERY SWEET
sugar - lol.....way too sweet
honey - one drop on the tongue was so sweet it almost made me gag
strawberries - AMAZING. try one dipped in sour cream...for real!
bananas - creamy and delicious
hot sauce - very sweet, but still spicy

i ordered the tablets on amazon, you can find fresh/frozen berries from some sellers and have them overnighted. you can even buy the miracle berry plants on ebay, but it takes at least 2-3 years for them to start fruiting. i say, give it a try!
