Hey All,after looking at a million threads on menthol crystals, I am still confused,I am going to mix up 500ml of menthol juice,this is my first go at it. how much crystals shouild I use to make a meduim strong juice. I will be mixing 250ml. 48mg. nic with 250ml pg to get 500ml of 24mg juice.I have read about mixing crystals with pg to make menthol flavor to use as a flavoring,but how much to use is confusing.what would recomend on how much crystals to mix into the 250ml of pg to get what I want. thank you for any info. edsmith

I suggest you make a very small nic free batch to get your flavor ratio down first.
you are right, I need to start small.any idea on how much of the menthol crystals I should add to 10ml of pg. I need to have a consitant flavor juice to use.how much to use to start with making 10ml.
I just made menthol drops, from a recipe i found here, start with a table spoon or so of crystals and crush them up into a powder, i put them in folded printer paper and went over it with a marble rolling pin on a marble cutting board, any hard surface will do.
and then put the powder in a 10ml bottle, you are looking to fill the bottle about 3/4 full or a little more, then fill the rest with PG, after an hour or so the crystals will be dissolved, you now have menthol flavor drops, they are very strong, 10 ml of drops will make months of e-liquid, i am still playing with how much to put in but it is very strong, one drop of the menthol drops to 1ml of finished juice is where I would start, adjust to taste,
make small batches of finished e liquid, 3 to 5 ml, give it a day to steep before you decide to make more the taste is more mellow the next day and probably changes more with time, play with small batches for a while.

my third attempt for a minty menthol was a winner for me, I like the cool tingle form menthol but too much of it gets to be a halls like flavor that i don't like, I prefer a tradition minty as the main.
40/50 pg/vg,
8% wintergreen (pg based flavor so really 50/50 pg/vg)
one drop per ml menthol drops from above.
menthol tingle is light but there, best vape i have made yet (not saying much as I am a noob) others looking for more menthol would not like it.
edit I am thinking a sweetener may let it carry more menthol for me bu unfortunately I don't have any yet, next order.

Everyone has a different method and I'll share what I did:
10ml bottle with a little less than half (closer to 3/8's) the bottle filled with crushed up Menthol crystals as described above.
Instead of PG (nothing wrong with using PG) I used Everclear pure grain alcohol and added 'till it was flush with the top of the crushed menthol. Once it all became a slush, I added about a half milliliter more of the PGA and shook the hell out of it. It then became a clear liquid and IMMEDIATELY wafted through the whole house! Everyone could smell it in a 2400 sq. ft. house, I kid you not! lol. It's that strong!
I quickly put the cap on and the smell dissipated.
I made up a 10ml batch of tobacco flavored e-juice in another bottle and added 5 drops...WAAAAY too strong! I dumped it and made another attempt, this time only using 3 drops...dam near perfect! I am not/was not a menthol cigarette smoker when I smoked but, I actually liked vaping this! It certainly is not an all day vape for me but is nice once in a while. As others have stated, menthol made from crystals is by default SUPER CONCENTRATED AND STRONG STRONG STRONG!! Also, careful handling it!! Getting it on your fingers and then rubbing an eye would make CS Gas feel like visine comparatively!
Just use the baker's mantra of "You can always add but you can't take away" and you'll be on the right track!

I use 1/2 the bottle full of crushed crystals, then fill it full of PG or PGA or Vodka. A more dilute solution of menthol allows better control when mixing juice. For example, I use 2 or 3 drops per ml for my juices. Also, the choice of diluting fluid makes a difference. PG gives less throat hit and alcohol gives greater throat hit. I detest throat hit so I use PG,. Next batch, I'm going to try VG.

BTW, if you could weigh the crystals, you would get a more repeatable result. Crushing the crystals is for repeatability purposes. Whole crystals dissolve well too.
Ditto. Get 10 ml correct before you mix a quantity 50 times as large. Don't forget to keep detailed notes if you make any adjustments.
This is pretty much the standard for making the flavor concentrate. How you mix it after that is dependent upon your personal taste. Very few people like it as strong as what I prefer. I like my menthol & koolada at a level just short of choking.
I make a menthol for a girl...who is totally NUTS!! about menthol...the first one I made her I made from a recipe...she PACKED menthol crystals in her tank (don't ask how it worked or how she did it, i didn't ask questions) but now I just fill a 10 ml bottle 1/2 w/ the crystals and 1/2 pg and then let it soak in some hot water...add some nic and a bit more pg/vg mix...she loves it. I can't even vape it. its like 32490872396 halls cough drops in ur mouth at one time...
I crush up menthol crystals and fill a bottle approx 3/4 the way up. Then I top it off with PG and shake.

lol, yeah she won't vape anything that isn't menthol. i made her apple menthol

.5ml menthol for a "normal" batch (10mL bottle)
she said she wanted more menthol less apple, but loved it.
If she's like me, she'd prefer 2ml menthol and .5ml apple. Of course, that's using my menthol which is 66% concentrate of menthol crystals.
