Hey all, I know I saw a post a while ago that had a nice guide on using menthol crystals. I got me some in the mail today and can't seem to find that guide, can some one point me in the right direction? Thanks

Sun, you don't have to mic if your using pg just let is set for a hour or two depending on how thick your crystals are. Then shake good.
Taz you are right as the crystals will melt on their own in PG or VG--but I get impatient and what it now as it is so good!!! ---Sun
so im guessing for 2ml of VG i would want just a pinch of crystal, let it melt over a few hours, or nuke it. then take that 2 ml of mentholated VG and mix with my TW juice. I wasnt a menthol smoker but I want to try something I havent yet and I saw crystals were like 1.5$ for 1/4 oz. I snaged some when i bought 60ml of VG. Also trying to change the taste of my 36mg TW camel flavor. Figured I would see how the crystals would do. thanks for the help all
I use the 5 minute method. LOL I take a 4ml glass bottle and fill it half full of unflavored juice or VG. Put 3 chips in it. Seal it and put whole bottle in a larger glass jar and run very hot tap water over it and then let it sit in the hot water. A few minutes it's melted. Works great. Start out minimally like Sun said. It's like too much salt in the soup, you can add, but you can't take out. Find the strength you like. I add it to my carts by the drop to see if I like it. Don't ruin a whole bottle and learn the hard way it was too strong.
I let mine sit in pure VG for a few days and they didn't completely melt. I got impatient and used the microwave method. I'll go with the safer hot water method next time.
I should note that I was also using about 300 crystals in 100ml of VG.

Ya im just starting out small to try it out. right now i got a crystal sitting in 1ml of VG in my little 2ml glass mix jars. once its melted i will add 1 ml of Camel 36mg and give it a go. If crystals are as potent as everyone says this 1/4 oz will last me a good while if I like it and @ 1.5$ for the 1/4 u cant beat that, I will never buy menthol juice again. Just my tobacco flavors mentholated.

My crystals were not melting very fast at all while soaking in the VG. I figured I would try the hot water technique some of you were talking about. Got a paper cup from my washroom and filled it just enough to be below the lip on my 2ml glass bottle, with hot tap water. It melted in a matter of minutes. Thanks for that tip worked really well. I would not see the reason of using a microwave, then again this is my first trial and it is in very low volume. After the crystal was fully dissolved, I added 1ml of TW Camel 36mg. Dripped a few on my atomizer and gave it a go, gonna try other mixtures later.

I tried mixing some in absinthe and they melted cleanly very quickly. I should have read up on them beforehand but crystals are non-soluble in water and glycerin but are very soluble in alcohol.
Anyway...I made it really strong and now just add a very drops to the VG that thins it a bit and also gives it a very clean menthol kick. I used about 30% crystals so I don't think I'd want to be vaping it straight

Nuck--I see you have been enjoying the Crystals---how much are you using in a 30 ml batch as I just tried 10 crystals in a 30 ml batch and seems a little weak with the VG and Alcohol--Thanks in Advance--Sun

I put 5ml of ground crystals with 10ml of absinthe (70% alcohol) and I keep that as my clean mixer.
I then added just 8 drops or so to a dram of VG and it was very strong and just the right consistency for dripping. I didn't even like menthol smokes when I smoked but for some reason, I'm really liking the clean cool taste for vaping.
I found the crystals I bought are all different sizes so trying to count them was too difficult. They do crush up easily though.

Nuck--Thanks!! I too did not like menthol cigarettes, but these crystals give one yeck of a throat hit and that is what I have really been missing--I will give your receipe a go. You might what to post it in the Lab as noone has posted a good one like this to date---Thanks again--Sun
I will when I get all the other supplies in. I'm still waiting on the citric acid and the tobacco absolute and another load of some flavorings. I would LOVE a nice clean VG and tobacco based vape with no or low nic that still gives a nice throat hit.

From his previous post which linked to one specific product, it appears that Nuck ordered the Nicotiana Rustica (Indian Tobacco - Wild Tobacco) instead of the Nicotiana Tabacum (Virginia?) in spite of my discussions concerning it not being the variety used by commercial e-manufacturers. I assume he did it on purpose, and it will be interesting to find out the results.

I'm fine-tuning the blend but for me a subtle essence of menthol is the way to go, not anything overwhelming. I'm mixing mine with tobacco flavored e-liquid and I want it to just stand out over the tobacco flavoring, not overpower it.

I don't get what I'm doing wrong, I tried to melt 2 very small crystals that I crushed up in about 20ml of VG(no nic), I nuked in in the microwave for 10 seconds(5 seconds was not enough but my microwave is old lol), it all melts but after about 30 minutes it starts to crystallize again, what am I doing wrong??
