Howdy all, I'm having an issue here, Ive made some diy and haven't ran into this problem because up until now its been easy to measure, I'm very confused now I'm gunna post a pic example of my issues, i thought i knew what i was doing but see I'm wrong, 2.02mls seemed simple until i seen 3.25mls, I'm guessing thats 3 and 1 quarter mls? then theres 5.4mls lol.. I dont want to have this much doubt when making my own ejuice, its not safe. Does anybody know any websites that help with this? Theres gatta be some sort of program i can type in the mls needed and it show me on a sample syringe... All the syringes i have are very simple common ones ranging from 1ml, 5ml and 10mls.. I want to be able to understand this all rather then just change the recipe a bit making it easier to understand if that makes any sense.. Is there syringes that show everything on them to make it easier for ppl not familiar with them? it would be sweet if there was an auto syringe lol, just dial in what you need and it pulls it in automatically, digital syringes haha man i wish.. anyways someone has to know where i can go for help on this.. Thank you in advance.. Cheers
sorry if the pic is too small, i tried to resize it but cant seem to find a good size ECF doesnt say is too big, if you click on it you can see it better, or just pm me and ill email it.THX

I suggest you use this for everything that comes after the "."

So measure out 3mls using a bigger syringe. Now for the .4 ..

So the relationship between the numbers...
To help make sense of it.. Put a ZERO after anything with just one number!
.4 = .40 // .25 = .25 // .02 = .02
That should help make sense of the differences. .02 is VERY VERY small. .4 is bigger than .25
Got it?

Now, look at your 1ml syringe.

You have long lines (with numbers) and 9 short lines in between each number.
The numbers = .1ml .2ml .3ml, etc.
The short lines in between would be .11, .12, .13, etc. Getting it?

So to measure out .4ml or .40ml, draw in liquid to the line that says 0.4

To measure out .25, draw to the .2ml and then 4 more SHORT lines in. There is usually a darker line at the .05 mark. You will be in-between the 0.2 and the 0.3.

Let me know if you have any other questions or if this wasn't clear enough!!!

Yea that seems easy enough except my syringes are too simple, i need some more complex ones, its not easy to get in Canada tho..

With a ruler, a thin marker or sharpie, and some clear tape, you can mark it yourself.

Use the ruler to make the lines as even as possible (I'd say do the math, but depending on how close together the numbers are, it probably won't do any good). Mark with a sharpie. Cover the numbers and lines with clear tape.

Or, this could probably get your marks more accurate... Take a strip of paper that is the length of space between your numbers. If you have a mark in between your numbers (.05 markings), cut it THAT length.

Fanfold your paper evenly, like this:
paper-dolls-2.jpg

(sorry for the strange picture, I picked the first one I saw!)

Make it so there are 5 "sections" (not folds) to your paper if you have mid-way markings. 10 sections if you are going between the numbers themselves. Again, make sure they are even.

Then use THAT as a guide to mark your syringe with a sharpie. Clear tape. Done.

When you're finished, you should have 9 total lines between your numbers. 4 lines in between your number and your halfway mark (I THINK I can see your midway line) and then 4 lines between your midway line and the next number.

Sorry I don't have better answers for you. Your syringe situation sucks!

Unless you are making large quantities might I suggest using 3ml & 1ml for flavorings and nic. When you get to the 1/100 of a ml or .00 you are talking about drops. I pretty much round up if it's greater than .05 or i really like that particular flavor. Nicotine would be a different story especially if you are dealing with 100mg per ml or if using the new flavors that are Highly concentrated and you are using mere drops for a 10 ml bottle to begin with.

I did think about this but id prefer being exact, i now know they have better syringes from Adelines response so ill get better onesI'mim a perfectionist kinda, id rather bexactxt, drops are just approx not exact but thx in the mean time i may try drops

I do DIY with a Graduated Cylinder and Ladder Recipes for PG, VG and Nicotine Base.

I like to make 18mg Unflavored Pre-Mix in Large amounts. Then when I want to Make Flavored e-Liquids, I just add Flavorings.

I don't measure below 1ml. I just adjust the Recipe to use Integer Values. Yeah... my 18mg might actually be 18.3mg or 17.6mg. But since 18mg was just an Arbitrary Number, it really Doesn't Matter. That and some recipes call for more Flavoring that others so the Nicotine mg varies Slightly anyway.

For flavoring, I use Drops. Since the Drops come from the Same Sized Dropper Every Time, the recipes are Completely Repeatable.

Measuring Everything down to the .01ml level seems like Overkill to me. But Everyone is Different.

This may be easier. Get a piece of paper, draw a right angle, measure 10 equal spaces along one leg (i.e. 1cm, 2cm, 3cm...), then draw a line from each mark to a point on the other leg. Now if you drew at an appropriate size, you can divide anything into equal 1/10ths just by lining up the top and bottom like so (keep the thing your dividing up parallel to the leg that your make your measurements along).

    divide.jpg

This method can be used to exactly divide up by any division you like. You could say line up the .1 mark with the 3rd line and make .1/3 = .03333 increments, or line up with the 5th line and make .1/5 = .020 intervals (0.00, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08, 0.10)
