Maybe... e-gel instead of e-liquid?

eliquid, egel, epowder, ecapsule, so much idea! Or since we only need the nicotine maybe we could find a plant that produces it, extract the leaves and smoke it right away, we won't need batteries and chargers anymore, that would be an improvement!

You're right; to the tobacco plantations! \o/

Maybe one with some kind of removable baseplate that can be cleaned/reused or something.

THIS idea is probably perfect. Someone once had a thread about using brass pipe screens to modify carts or make a bigger bridge in an atty with...

Rip out the bridge of the atty, put a couple of those sized screens directly over the heating element, and stick a glob of nicogel on top of it. The brass would conduct heat great, and when the glob has been used up take out the screens and wash off any residue or carbon buildup.

I'm with you on that one! Somebody came up with that plant thing a few hundred years ago. Just pick the leaves, let it dry, put fire to it and viola! It worked great. So great, it was considered sacred by some people. Other people discovered it and built an entire economy on it, and a whole country was born because of this wonderful plant.

But then governments started regulating it, and companies started putting dangerous additives in it, and then taxes upon taxes upon taxes, and finally social stigmas against it and laws that forbid its use in most places.

Then an enterprising person came up with a way to put the active ingredient (nicotine) into an electronic gizmo to get around all of that. Basically, re-invented the wheel. But it still has a lot of kinks to be worked out. So, here we are.

I travelled this road back in November last year.

Here's my concept for a solid-fuel e-cig (with cartridge)...

gel2.jpg

Here's my first attempt to create a solid - mixing pure gelatine with tobacco juice (set in a straw)...

And here is a blob of the stuff vaporising in a regular CE2 atty...

It vaporised very well - but was a bit smelly. :(

Guess why I am not surprised a bit. You should've tried heating gelatin alone. This is a typical protein product derived mainly from pig skin or bones, therefore it would smell (or rather stink), if heated.
My question is: why complicate otherwise simple things? Why would you like to inhale a dozen of extra chemicals? Just for fun?

What you are looking for is the ploom. Costs $40. Uses butane to vaporize tobacco so you get the WTA.

Our own Tropical Bob did a review and shows how he refills the pods that the ploom uses with snuff.

So what's in the Pods?

BTW - WTA?

It's tobacco.

WTA stands for whole tobacco alkaloids. Some people who have tried vaping feel like something is missing. There are other alkaloids in tobacco besides nicotine. E-juice does not have them and the lack of these are what keeps e-cigs from being a good alternative for these people.

To get them some have turned to whole tobacco products like snuff, snus, stonewalls.

Interesting OP, & I enjoy reading everyone's ideas.
xanthan gum is out..........this is nasty even as an additive in food. It's in a lot of ice creams.
just the thought of gelatin makes me nauseated..........thinking of the fatty tissue hanging around horse/cow hooves & then eating it, let alone vaping it....yuck (yes, i'm vegetarian)

I don't have any ideas regarding e-gel. However, what if it was a gel that was applied topically. (I guess this would be like the nicotine patch) There are already many pharmaceutical companies that make their medications in gel form so that they can be applied topically, (immediate and time released absorbtion at the same time).

agar is an interesting theory......

I look forward to reading more in this thread. I posted here so that I can follow it.
