    Somewhere between here and there
Hello again. I’m pleased to be back with another review for lost vape after a little bit of a hiatus. I was scheduled to review the Thelema Solo DNA100C but customs decided to confiscate it and thus I will not be reviewing it unfortunately. Instead, today I’m here to talk about the new Centaurus Quest Q200 kit that was sent to me by Lost Vape to provide you with a fair, honest, and hopefully informative review that will allow you to decide if this might be a good kit for you. I was actually sent two kits for this review because there are two different options for you to choose from. Both kits have the Q200 mod but you can choose whether you want a kit with the Centaurus Sub Ohm tank or the kit with the UB Max Pod tank. Both are nice but preferences can be different from person to person so Lost Vape has decided to offer two choices for you.

    INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for both of the Q200 kits come with the white outer sleeve that most Lost Vape samples arrive in. There is a nice color picture of each device on the front with of course the Lost Vape and Centaurus names. This is where you need to pay attention when ordering so you can choose the version with the correct tank that you want.

The back side of the sleeve has the contents list, a warning, a sticker stating the color version, and an authenticity code. I personally haven’t seen a counterfeit mod in quite a while but I’m sure they are out there.

The sides of the sleeve has the statement “A Modern Demarcation” on one side and a list of features on the other side with icons. Overall very nice packaging in my opinion.

Once the sleeve and box top are removed, you are greeted with the owner’s manual, warranty card and a metal pick attached to an instruction card. I’ll explain that last one a little later. Once the paperwork is removed, then the Q200 mod with the appropriate tank is found in a plastic insert. You might notice that my tank is still wet. That’s because I washed it like I do with every tank I receive before using it. Don’t worry, I took it apart and dried it before using it. If you lift the mod tray then underneath is found two coils, USB-C charging cable, spare glass, and o ring package. Of course there is not a spare glass with the kit containing the UB Max Pod Tank.

Ok, where to start. Please be patient because this might get a little long. I guess the best place is to start with the two different tanks. First let’s take a look at the Centaurus Sub Ohm Tank. Both tanks use the new UB Max coils and both come with the same two coils. The included coils are the UB Max X1 coil with a resistance of .15 ohms and rated at 80-120 watts for DL. The second coil is the UB Max X3 coil with a resistance of .3 ohms and rated at 40-60 watts.

The Centaurus Sub Ohm tank comes with an 810 drip tip, has a ¼ turn bayonet style top cap that is easily removed for filling through the good sized fill port openings, and comes with the bubble glass pre-installed to give a liquid capacity of 5ml and I believe the capacity with the included straight glass is 3ml.

The outside of the center chamber has the Centaurus symbol on it and the Lost Vape name on the airflow control ring above it. This one is a top airflow tank which I like because it makes it more leak proof in my opinion. The tank can be completely disassembled for ease of cleaning. The Centaurus name is also found on the bottom of the base. The coils are a simple push in style like most drop in coils we see these days.

The airflow on the Centaurus tank seems very smooth and is not noisy at all from what I can tell during testing it. I ran the .3 ohm coil at 45 watts and the flavor production was very good using a diy one shot that I use daily. It produces large amounts of vapor if that is something that you like. I had the airflow only open about 1/3 and it was a nice flavorful vape.

Next up is the UB Max Pod Tank. This tank also uses an 810 drip tip like the Centaurus tank but it is narrower and I actually liked it a bit better. This is a pod tank with a 510 base. It also has a 5ml liquid capacity but is filled through the bottom of the pod by removing a rubber plug much like the old UB Pro pod tank. On the top of the tank is the Lost Vape and UB Max names with a series of slanted lines going around the top. The Lost vape name is found near the top edge of the 510 base and is above the airflow adjustment ring. The adjustment ring does not have a stop on it. The pod can easily be removed for filling while leaving the 510 base on the mod.

I ran the .15 coil in the UB Max tank and liked the airflow at about ½ open with the output set at 55 watts. I like at least a little bit of restriction so ran it a little lower than the recommended output range because I don’t like a really warm/hot vapor. I felt like it ran very well at this setting and just like the other coil I ran on the Centaurus tank, it produced a very good flavor profile using the same liquid and an even larger amount of vapor due to the higher setting and different coil.

Hopefully by now you will be able to decide which kit is best for you after seeing the features of each tank. Now let’s go ahead and take a look at the star of the show which is the Centaurus Quest Q200 mod.

The 510 connection on the Q200 is secured using three torx head screws and has a gold plated and spring loaded center pin like we have gotten used to seeing on most mods these days. I know that this one looks somewhat similar to the Thelema 200 but this one loads the batteries from the bottom by sliding the bottom battery door in the direction of the arrow and flipping it up. Both of the samples I received had battery doors that seemed like they wiggled too much from side to side when open. When closed they were very secure with no issue. It just seemed odd that the hinge allowed so much movement.

    upload_2022-7-4_11-21-59.png

Both of the samples I received are the gold with wood panels. On one side of the gold frame is the Lost Vape name and Centaurus Quest on the other side. The back is wrapped with black carbon fiber but has no noticeable padding. On the Centaurus DNA250C the side panels are screwed on. However, on the quest version the panels are removable. There is a metal pick that resembles a guitar pick that is included in the kit with instructions that show you how to remove the magnetic panels. This I assume is so Lost Vape can offer alternate panels since I doubt people are going to buy more kits just to get side panels.

    upload_2022-7-4_11-23-38.png

The front of the mod is set up much like the Thelema Quest 200 and uses the same Quest 2.0 chipset that was uses on the Thelema 200, Thelema 100, Cyborg, and Ursa and so on. I very much like the Quest chipset and think it is one of the top two on the market. It is very user friendly and in my opinion somewhat resembles a DNA interface.

The front of the mod has a large round fire button near the top followed by the .96” display, the + button, the menu select button, the – button, and the USB-C fast charging port. The display shows the following information.

    - Battery level indicator with numerical percentages

    - Mode of operation

    - Set wattage

    - Coil resistance and user record number

    - Firing mode (Soft, Normal, Hard) and Puff counter

    - Settings

    - Puff counter

Once Settings is selected using the center button the following options are available.

    - Atomizer

    - Screen

    - Color

    - User

    - Reset

    - About

    - Back

With this type of menu there is no need to remember different button combinations besides five presses of the fire button to turn the mod on and off and pressing the + and – button will lock/unlock the adjustment buttons. There are five modes of operation and one of them is TC-SS904 which is good since the .3 ohm coil can be used with that mode. Simply use the + or – buttons to highlight the mode and press the select button. Then you can use the + and – buttons to scroll through the five modes which are

    - VPC

    - Bypass

    - Wattage

    - Voltage

    - Temperature Control (SS904/SS316/Ti/Ni) mode

    FINAL THOUGHTS:

As usual it’s been a pleasure testing another Lost Vape kit. Whether you choose the kit with the Centaurus Sub Ohm tank or the UB Max Pod Tank, I think you’re going to like it.

Everything on each kit seemed to carry the usual feeling of quality. However, the battery doors on both samples seemed a little loose when open. Like I said earlier, I very much like the user interface of the Quest 2.0 chipset. Being able to access the options from the main screen is a big plus in my book.

The Centaurus tank delivered very good flavor with the new Max coils as did the UB Max pod tank. I personally prefer the .3 ohm coil as it was a better fit for me with it hitting my sweet spot at the 40-45 watt mark. The .15 ohm coil was very good also for flavor production but found myself liking it below the recommended operating range in the mid 50 watt range. Despite running a little low, it performed very well. Just once, I’d like to see a kit like this released with an option to get an rta with it. Just an idea.

So, would I recommend the Lost Vape Centaurus Quest Q200 for you? Well, if you’d like a well-built mod with a very good chipset then definitely would recommend it. As far as the tanks go, both performed very well during my testing but if I had to pick then I would personally go for the Centaurus Sub Ohm tank simply because it’s top fill and top airflow. Also, the Centaurus Quest gives more people the opportunity to try one of these great devices that might not otherwise be able to afford the DNA version of this mod.

I’d like to thank Lost Vape and Bella for sending the Lost Vape Centaurus Quest Q200 kits for this review. Also thanks to you the readers for sticking it out until the end of my review. Below is a link to the website for your viewing pleasure.

Good review, but I get confused between tanks and pods. What differentiates a pod from a tank?

What I consider to be a pod is something that doesn’t have a 510 connection as part of the tank that you actually fill. In this case there’s a pod tank where there’s a separate 510 base and the pod attaches to the base with magnets.

Thank you, my Vaporesso Swag PX80 attaches with a magnet. It is a great device, always my out and about device. I now have a more favorable opinion of pods.
FYI: I bought this based off of one of your reviews, again thanks.

I remember that. I still think it’s a good mod.

Nice review Hitt. So the biggest difference between this and the Thelema 200 is the battery door, replaceable side panels, and the Centaurus coil head tank if you were to go with that option?

Also, any thoughts on performance difference between the UB Pro Pod and coils (came in the Thelema, Cyborg, Grus kits) vs. the UB Max Pod and coils?

Yes, those are the differences. Still the same Quest 2.0 chip and interface.

It has been a while since I used the UB Pro coils but always liked them. I don’t know that I really noticed a big difference in flavor. I’d have to get out a pro coil to compare.
