Hi there,

I am pretty new to vaping, my mom and I have been using a greensmoke e cig setup for about a year. Been so great for us to be able to quit smoking analogues. Greensmoke has become so expensive and seems to have lowered the quality, the cartridges last half as long as they use to. Also found out it was bought out by Phillip Morris (big tobacco) and I do not want to support those evil ....'s!!!
So I am looking for a new setup for myself and my mom, she gets a bit of a sore throat at times and she thinks it could be a pg allergy. I have been doing a lot of research into moving on to a better setup.
I saw that (misleading?) study about the high levels of formaldehyde in vapor produced when high voltage was used, that apparently would be burning out the coils etc so would be not normal use. I contacted greensmoke on the voltage of their batteries and they said they didn't know! wtf?!
Does anyone know what a greensmoke battery voltage would be? I have looked everywhere but can't find it.
I wanted to know what would be the best quality, safest vape setup for intermediate users like myself?
I was looking at an ego one starter kit which seems like one of the best choices, but then i read they can heat up so i was concerned about this. They are coming out with the ego one CT and VT - would these solve that issue? I am not sure, I would just want something I can vape at a low voltage.
I would like to get a setup that uses really good quality safe materials i.e. glass and stainless steel that won't be affected by heat/vapor, I don't want to use anything with plastic atomizers.
I was looking at the Aspire range and Kangertek as well, Aspire seems very well made, Kangertek has great reviews but seems to use plastic atomizers in their e pens.
Lastly, in regards to e liquid, is VG safer than PG? Can I use straight VG in these devices?
Thanks so much for your time and help in advance!!!

Wow, that's a lot of questions... :) Possibly more than we can handle here in AtV section where we can't have a conversation with you and ask you questions about yours and your Mom's preferences, likes and dislikes. I suggest you start a thread in New Members forum where you'll likely have a nice conversation with other members.

A few basic facts about vaping:

--Vaping is at least 95% safer than smoking (see Public Health England and tons of other studies; join CASAA and visit their website)

--Per Dr. Farsalinos, formaldehyde is only created in dry puff conditions, when there is no eliquid in the wick and on the coil; nobody vapes dry wicks; It has very little to do with the actual voltage, or rather wattage, of your PV.

also this explanation may be helpful

https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/threads/im-so-lost-please-help.671894/#post-15746118

--most cigalikes output 3.5-3.7v, regulated on unregulated--that includes GreenSmoke, and their cartomizers are usually high resistance (2.5-3Ω), so you're perfectly safe as long as you keep them fully saturated. Never let your cartos dry out--top off early and top off often (they can be refilled)

--true PG allergies are rare; you may be slightly dehydrated or be sensitive to some flavoring in the eliquid

--If you want an eGo-class battery, get one that comes with variable voltage and try to stay at 5.5-7.5 watts

--If you want to really step up, I suggest getting a small box mod like iStick 30, Heatvape Defender 36W or Cool Fire 4. Grreat little mods. My favorite tanks are Eleaf Air (M, MS, GS Tank)--they are glass, very inexpensive and provide great flavor and vapor! If you want to know more about GS Air tanks, visit this thread:

Good luck.

Okay. Too many worries. Don't worry about Phillip Morris. Worry about just finding a nice vape for yourself so that you can stay off the cigs.

Most all the devices are safe, you are not using high end complicated mechanical mods and building your own sub ohm coils......so......NO WORRIES.

Unless you have a bonafide PG allergy, there is no reason not to vape ejuice with some PG in the ratio. It wicks better. I don't like the taste of PG, so I use high VG, usually 70% VG. Most every eliquid vendor gives you ratio choices now. Try out a few ratios and see what works for you, your mom can do the same.

So what you need to decide first:
Do you want a box shape or a tube shaped device?

Tube shaped would be anything from lowly ego type Spinner or Spinner II, Itaste VV4 (variable wattage and variable voltage), Joyetech Ego One, Kanger Emow, Kanger Evod Mega, Aspire CF VV, Aspire premium kit, etc.

Box shaped would be Eleaf istick, Kanger subbox mini kit, Innokin Coolfire 4, Joyetech eGrip, Joyetech evic VT, etc.

Almost every clearomizer has a glass option now, there are too many to name here. :)

Sometimes, a set up somebody else has just catches your eye.........go here and start looking! 366 pages to work backwards thru:
https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/f...r-girly-pretty-decorated-pink.323314/page-365

This is probably best idea......you have to like the look and size of things.

You going save a LOT of money getting off greencig first and buying your own juice then maybe even making your own juice to save even more.

Burning the juice is not good and dry hits are not good. Both these have the similar properties as very high powered vaping.

I wanted to know what would be the best quality, safest vape setup for intermediate users like myself?

For safety in vapor you'll want the new temperature control technology.

Stepping up in size is also really needed if you want to get into more sofisticated devices. Size shape and weight should all be considered.

I would look at trying to get a temperature control small box mod and a tank with replaceable heads.

The evic vt mini should be a solid device and not as big or Heavy as the full size vt that i have. Or something like a clouper mini. These types of mods cost around 40-50

There are also some good tc/ temperature control tanks out on the market that would work for you. They cost around 25-35 probably.
